I honestly think the popularity and love given to the W could’ve easily been double at this point.
Poor marketing, poor Olympic Selection, lack of rule enforcement for clear actions which broke clearly stated rules, etc. dramatically reduced the potential to hold and generate new viewers.

As for the 'mania' surrounding Caitlin Clark dissipating after her rookie season, it is a reasonable assumption when in sport there is such a thing as _'second-year syndrome'_ when rookies no longer fly under the radar and tend to come back to the field as the entire competition makes the necessary adjustments to account for their level of skill. However, this standard is hard to apply to a generational talent like Caitlin Clark. Given the fact that there is so much hype around her due to her stellar rookie season where she broke *62 records,* including setting the WNBA assist record and becoming the FIRST rookie to score a triple-double (TWICE) and then go on to win the Time 'Athlete of the Year and 'AP Female Athlete of the Year' awards. The Clark phenomenon is only going to grow exponentially from here, IMO.
Good points. Plus, CC had such insane defensive attention on her last year that it is not like they can ramp up defense on her any more, and she has a better coach and teammates this year, so I think she will be even better in year 2 in the "W".

Mick, sometimes the simplest explanation is the best. CC is special, and people are naturally drawn to her because of that reason. I've never seen a female player like her, and millions of others haven't either.
