- It's the 44th Annual Greek Festival in San Jose! We take part in the celebration by enjoying live music, traditional dances, and trying out various Greek dishes from Moussaka to Stuffed Bell Peppers to Gianniotiko. Watch to see the action unfold :)

I am Turk and i recognized nearly every food, and named them like you do little difference in Turkish , Lokma, Dolma, Musakka, Kuskus, Kadayıf, Baklava, Nazar Boncuğu(Evil Eye), Simit(Big Bagel), Döner/Gyro , Even Gift looking same in Turkey. But you olive oil is better quality i give you that and Turks are not that interested in Navy Seal and Ships like you do so there is the difference between communities.

"Opa!" What a cool happenin'! I went to a Greek infant baptism, one time, for twin girls. The Greeks are cool people. Your vlog made me hungry. Looking over your shoulder, at the menu, I would've tried the 'Chicken Reganati' ; 'Herb Chicken w/ Orzo' & the 'Baklava' for desert. Thanks for another story in San Jose! ♥

My grandfather is Greek. I love going to the Greek festival's for the food, but my grandfather is often disappointed by the quality lol It's hard to produce mass quantities of food and maintain that home cooking taste. Can't beat the desserts though IMO!!
I like your mom and she pronounced the food well. Greek festivals do not use the best ingredients and recipes and the food is not as fresh as it should be but it's still fun. We have a decent festival in my city but parking is horrid and I might use Uber this year...

You should have tried the pita (the original "kebab") and the loukoumades! They are delicious!!!
Kebab and Lokma are Turkish food. not Greek. Lokma means "piece of meal" in Turkish.

The greek food in Greece is better because is not the type of food/name of the plate but the greek ingredients that makes it tasteful. All these weren't looking good at all and if a greek was in a restaurant in Greece probably would never order them and he would go to another place to order a proper plate of mousaka or gemista or mpaklava, gianniotiko etc
Btw greeks who live in greece rarely using the word Opa or breaking plates when they are dancing at least after the '60s.
I just writing this because non greeks who came to greece to live sometimes asking why the same food tastes much better here or why we dont say opa
This is a year late, but as for the "opa" and breaking plates thing, I disagree. I'm 17 yet I've broken so many plates when others dance, and keep hearing opa while dancing (not only while dancing of course) but probably mostly from the people who watch the dancer, and that to cheer them on. I'm a Greek who lives in Greece, by the way.

in israel we also have musaka. when i make it im using chicken and not beef, and roll it with eggplants and bake it all with tomato souce. the flavors are so gentle and its really delicious!!!

well we have many recipes in common. I have also heard of others that were similar. just with a few differences. each people make it their way.

next time that you will try stuffed pepper or γεμιστά (gemista) as we call them in Greece try eat them with rice only and not having meat inside,or try eat all of it not only the inside part most of Greek they don't eat all of it and missing the pest part in gemista... aaa and an other think prefer tomatoes and eggplants are more juicy and soft than pepper!!!!!

Ειναι πιο πολυ τα υλικα που πουλουν στα σουπερ μαρκετ οπως λιντλ και τετοια ,δηλαδη δεν το προμηθευονται απο καποια ελληνικη βιομηχανια οπως κανουν στην Ελλαδα.

did you see the name Elaine well pronounced the E as elementary Ελληνη [Ellene ] means unity . when our skools and libraries were burned by gypsi priests they started using the word griecke . the letter C was a mistake in their alphabet and left this way . Ελλαδα [Ellada] is the orinal word for the derogatory gypsi word Greece. that was the dark ages . now we are in the info age. leave darkness and be light .
