    Picked up my Rolex 124060 last week after a 5 month wait from AD 😁
    Similar story to you, l purchased a Tudor Black Bay Bronze, then a couple of years later l purchased an Omega Speedmaster. I decided that I wanted to add a Non Date Submariner so expressed my interest for this piece back in June. Popped into my dealer a couple of times for a chat and my sales rep gave me the call to let me know the Sub41 was ready for me to collect!

    I can’t believe people are actually happy that a retail store allowed them to spend their own money….and at retail! Wow! So nice of them.

      he is a pawn, I was just thinking the same thing. This is why I will never buy a Rolex and I will continue to buy and perfect my Chinese replicas; they get better every year, and they cost a fraction of the price; with 3d printing and 3d scanners the parts are now all exactly the same; if you know watchmaking you can refine the finish of the parts yourself, change the hair and mainspring for more advanced replacement parts and you have yourself a Rolex quality watch made in China(or pay someone like me to do it and still save your hard earned money). I get to say fuck Rolex and keep my money for a bespoke suit and oxfords from artisans and family owned shops.

      The power of marketing:
      They create a desire.
      They create an artificial shortage.
      They create "opportunities" to buy.

      @@jameswilson8820 no he’s smart. All these clowns who wait in line to get an extremely overvalued clock are fools. You have to practically beg them to take YOUR money lmao that’s not an ethical business model. But the wannabe rich guys eat it up and love waiting for a watch that the Chinese have almost perfected at a fraction of the price. In 10 years, replicas will be indistinguishable from authenticas and will dominate the overpriced luxury watch market. 3 things will happen.
      1. Rolex will continue to sky rocket their prices
      2. They will have to come down on their prices and ridiculous wait times in order to stay afloat.
      3. They will stop yanking people’s chains and start supplying their stores with the actual watches so that way you can just walk in and buy same day.
      But their current business model is designed to make shmucks believe the watches are worth more than they really are. Do you honestly believe it takes them 2 damn years to make your watch and you receive it? If I walk in a store with 20k and decide to buy 2 GMTs what damn difference does it make if I have purchase history or not? 20k is 20k no matter where it comes from. But the whole design is snaky. It’s brilliant in the sense it has people believing the watches are more premium than they really are. But it’s a slimy way to get people to shell out vehicle MSRP prices. You can buy a brand new bmw for the price of some of those watches. It’s absolutely absurd. But it’ll continue like that because morons love displaying their “wealth” on their wrist. I’ll stick to my reps. Oh! And before you say I’m broke I make enough to buy 5 plus Rolexes a year. But I refuse to get finessed out of my money when you can get a seiko or citizen that is mechanically far superior. Cheers 🍻

      @@MisterMaster4life exactly!!! The whole waitlist is designed to scam people. It creates the illusion that it takes that long to make the watch. It’s all lies and marketing. They “created” this shortage to make the watches seem so luxurious that it justifies their prices. Yet, most people cant see this. The sheet is pulled far over their heads and even if you explain this to them they think your a conspiracy theorist. Yet, almost every other watch brand you walk in their store and walk out with a watch same day. And people think the watches are worth their price but time and time again there are countless videos explaining how other luxury watch brands who have much cheaper retail prices have better quality control, movements, and overall finishing. And the whole practically begging them to take your money is another scam. But most people can’t see it and it’s really unfortunate.

    being from surrey i mailed the shop you used to try and get on the wait list and after congratulating me on my interest in the subs and showing pics of how great they are, they say they are not adding anyone to the wait list for any sub to manage their existing customers, i also said i'd have an explorer 2 in black that never got mentioned in reply, which tells me they don't really care, basically said i want a sub and the explorer and i'll pay cash for both, in what other company could you offer around 16k in cash and get blanked lol personally i think half the watches on ebay are from main dealers doing the dirty!

    I live in HK and was on a lookout for the 126610 black Sub. I went to dealers around the city and they specifically mentioned that I can get the watch "guaranteed" if I also buy 2 other half gold "less-popular" models. In this case, there was no such thing as a waiting list hahahaha. I feel that they have no reason to sell to us individual collectors and would rather sell to resellers who don't mind stocking these less-popular models in high quantities. It's good that you are able to get one without all the non-sense! Cheers!

    I have another thought. We should not buy watch from grey martkets, if you do so, eventually you sponsor those flippers, bcos when you buy from grey markets meaning you buy from those flippers and so they will continue go back to their AD to get new watches, and consequently the AD will not have any leftover pieces for those sincerely waiting for a piece from the AD. And it's on and on. Hence, just be patient and sit back and there should have an opporrunity later to get from the AD. 😊

You’re not a personal friend of these merchants..... regardless of the bullshit. Remember it’s business and the supply shortage is a strategy to support the people that flip watches. Not for the average persons interests. If you want to buy a Rolex of any model, just get on there stupid list. It’s all another failed model of a company that’s truly lost its way. It’s no different in why these same vintage watches that are twenty years old sell above the average cost of any newer upgraded model. Think about it.......if supply wasn’t an issue there should be sufficient stock on hand, Oh and BTW....there’s no line ups out side any Rolex dealer I’ve ever seen.

They’re making everyone believe the watches are so premium that it takes years to get one to its customers. It’s brilliant in the sense that they’ve made this whole unethical business model to get as much money as possible from their customers by created artificial shortages and wait times. I want a Rolex but I’ve seen to much now to give them my money. I can’t by from a company who tells you whether or not you’re worthy of a specific watch based on how much you’ve already spent at the ADs and the fact that they’ve artificially created these shortages to con people out of more money than they’re worth. Honestly I don’t see why people wait for these they’re pretty bland I think a santos de Cartier looks 100 times better getting the SS large but if I had the money I’d also buy one in rose and yellow gold and call it a day Rolex seems a little played out

    The 41mm no one wants that size. It’s too big for my Asian wrist. The old 40mm was perfect size or better yet the BB58 at 39mm is more suitable for my wrist size.

    • @AnIndianAbroad
      @AnIndianAbroad  3 роки тому +1

      Have you seen one in person? the 41mm actually wears smaller and thinner than the old 40mm. But you are right, it is never going to be as small as the BB58 but then you are comparing 2 entirely different watches made for entirely different customer type/wrist sizes.

      @@AnIndianAbroad The 41mm, the clasp is oversize and it looks so big on my Asian wrist. What was Rolex thinking, it looks so big and unappealing. Rolex needs to go back to 40mm for the Sub.
      The market especially in Hong Kong is gravitating towards smaller size.

      @@Thankyou_3 I have 16 cm wrist. I love the size. Rolex was thinking that the watch should last not one lifetime but perhaps a few. Bigger more robust case watch will survive more polishing over the decades.

      @Thankyou_3 3 роки тому

      @@skg5 If the size increase was due to polishing needs then it was a wrong decision by Rolex, the BB58 is perfect in size. The 41mm Sub is the clasp and lug size they miserable failed, so BIG and ugly proportions. What the heck were they thinking. Any sports watch should not go over 40mm. That is just my theory for my small Asian wrist size.

      @@Thankyou_3 You realize the 40mm actually measures around 40.2-40.3 and the 41mm measures 40.5-40.6. The lugs are also slimmer and although the clasp is larger overall it wears smaller. Try them both on at the same time and you'll see it isn't as bad as you think it is.
