    I enjoyed your video very much and I just found it two hours ago. And guess what? I followed along and made an apron out of one my dad’s old flannel shirts. It’s a gift for my 26 year old daughter who was very close to my dad (her Peepaw). He died four years ago just before Christmas. This apron is going to be treasured and I thank you for your excellent tutorial. Merry Christmas and God bless you!

    I like to make my ties from the sleeves and make them long enough to bring around and tie in the front. I use the back for a pocket all the way across the front dividing the pocket in thirds. I also use my serger.

      I also use the sleeves to make the ties! I have used the last few inches of the sleeve including the cuff to make pockets. Cute!

    I have used the sleeves for 7”pockets. Using the cuff as the top of the pocket. Cute. Thanks for the tutorial.

    Nice upcycle! I think one thing I would add is to sew up the button placket on the front

    I love your instructions! I have made a few of these aprons from shirts. Your apron is very much like the ones I have made in the past. I did learn a few things from you and will incorporate in my next apron. I wear one whenever cooking. They are great as a part of a fund raiser, especially when the shirts did not cost you anything! I think making the apron from a loved ones shirt is a great gift. It’s like a memory apron vs a memory bear!

    I made 6 of these for Christmas Gifts. So cute! Easy. I like to use binding instead of hemming, to me it looks more finished. Plenty of fabric using sleeves or back of shirt.

    I would do Rick rack down the front or lace or some pretty additions to the apron. Thanks for your ideas

    I like to use the back to cut a circle for a matching chef's hat, the band of which can be cut from the sleeves. This pairing makes for an unbeatable set! Very popular.

    It's only bias binding if it is cut on the bias from yardage and then folded pressed and sewn. Using just any length of fabric risks uneven stretching and uneven wear.

    • @deborahstarrett7524
      @deborahstarrett7524 4 дні тому

      I came here to say this. You can use bias tape for ties, but you can't make a strip of fabric into bias unless you cut it at an angle on the bias.

    There are several videos showing the apron coming from front fabric; would like to see a video using the BACK of the shirt, using the shoulder area/yoke as the top. (The only missing thing I saw in other videos was the front button down was permanently stitched closed with buttons not functioning anymore.)

    Great tutorial! I just subscribed. Your hands look so young.....I've spent so much time on my face and neck but have neglected my hands; now they look much older than the rest of me. Yours are beautiful. Thanks for this tutorial. I saw some of these aprons at a craft show and wanted to make them. I'll have a hoot going through your previous videos. Blessings from WV!

    I saw another video where she cut up the side on the back part close to the seam so you don't have to hem that section.

    • @lindamasson3094
      @lindamasson3094 10 місяців тому

      That's the way I've made a couple. I just don't know how they come through the wash. There is still a raw edge next to the seam. Bias binding is a good idea.

    Your camera is out of focus, maybe it has to do with the pattern of your fabric, I couldn’t even watch, it hurt my eyes. Too bad, you have an interesting project
