Just FYI... the inside microphone wire button hole is extremely useful for people who use the insulin pumps that have tubing. I use a tubeless type now but have modified clothing in a similar manner in the past.

The leaf pocket❤❤❤❤ I cannot with how cute and useful these are! I love everything about these overalls. As a preschool teacher, I feel a need to make some of these for work😊
Different colours, different themes like lego, geometrics, animal shapes. Planning several means that scraps from one turn into pockets on another. Loose fitting T shaped tops would go underneath and be comfortable for working in a warm, messy environment where freedom of movement is essential.
I have been wishing a batman-like utility belt for teaching but overalls would be even better! I want 7 of them, each a color of the rainbow with different themes. A red one with an apple shaped pocket? A blue one with clouds?! I am completely obsessed.
As I was growing up,these types of clothes were called "play clothes". I had many overalls and other clothes. A full 2 drawers of play clothes. When I was wearing them there was no need to worry about using a sandbox as a boat and getting soaked, climbing trees and ripping them, making mudpies, playing ball and getting grass stains, crawling under the house to get a litter of kittens out the duct work. You just DO in play clothes. Anyways. So cute! Great job on these. It looks great!
this idea of not being precious with handmade clothes is so damn smart!! I need to make myself some gremlin overalls. these turned out SO CHARMING and seeing the process was really helpful!!
I really enjoyed this video and will make myself a pair for when I’m in the greenhouse tending to my chillies I’m nearly 80 but reckon I’ll look cute in them!!! Thank you so much.❤
This is the most inspiring sewing project I’ve watched in a while. As a sewer, I get stuck in making items that look like RTW things from the shops. This has reminded me that the beauty of making your own clothes is to make them as personalised and whimsical as possible, and not to the detriment of practicality. I loved every second of this.
As a person who has made three pairs of my own overalls, (I'm 5' 1" and not thin as a post) the seam that doesn't really have a name - the crotch one. I call it the Saddle Seam. Because when one gets measured for a Saddle that is what gets measured. I actually keep a template for myself so that any legged bottoms I make fits perfectly. Keep on creating Morgan, you are an inspiration to us all.
After googling "measure crotch for saddles" I still don't know for sure if your saddle measurement guy is a perv or if you're actually supposed to measure that part 😂 I'm invested.
This has really inspired me to be less precious with my clothes and give myself permission to mess them up. To give a little context, I work in agriculture, and in summer that means field season and dedicated work-wear for comfort/safety. But the rest of the year, I work primarily in the greenhouse, so things always have the risk of getting a bit dirty. Because of this, I often just wear old t-shirts, men's work pants, etc. The issue here is that I LOVE dressing up. After watching this, I feel inspired to just wear what I want and feel happy and confident in the way I look, regardless of whether or not it'll get dirty. I spend 5 out of 7 days of every week hating what I'm wearing, but no more!
Honestly, at this point in my life, I keep a few items set aside for event wear and everything else is fair game to get messy. I do art, keep houseplants and aquariums, and it's just way nicer to be comfy and happy in what I wear than fret about it getting ruined!
I know what you mean. I have horses and was sad to realise I spent most of my time in old unflattering clothes because of how grotty I'd get and the risk of ripping/destroying my clothes. I did end up wearing my favourite pants most days last summer anyway and now they are close to worn out 😅😭 Am in the process of copying them to make another pair for next summer! Life is too short isn't it 💜
I have something like this- Nothing so cute, but I call them Shop Clothes. I even have a flattering tee shirt that says I Make Things on it that I used to wear to the workshop on my job. "Yes I am wearing paint on purpose" is a Lewk. It's always good to have a few things that are meant to get messy. This project came out so cute!!
Yep, I've got a whole laundry basket of clean tshirts, sweatshirts and work pants with paint and caulking etc. all over them. No point in getting new unblemished work clothes when they're just gonna get wrecked anyways. Been practicing patching techniques on them too, reinforced a pocket I clip a knife to with buttonhole stitches, have a bunny print flannel patch in the butt of one pair and the bunny peeking out of the knee of another... trying out new to me vintage sewing machine's fancy stitches on another...
you have no idea how timely this video is. i've started wearing overalls again after i finished altering a store-purchased pair to better fit my weird creature body. and now that i realize how comfortable they are, i realize how much i would like a pair for less heavy/messy work. i purchased some mushroom-patterned denim this past winter for jeans but got overwhelmed with the complexity of the project and now it's sitting in storage collecting dust. but now... with this video as a guide... ohhhohohoho!
Super cute! Funny thing is that I'm watching this right after having scored a couple of major yardages at Goodwill this morning and had a jumper or overalls in mind for this heavy, drapey eggplant-colored cotton blend. Love this idea!
I love that you gave yourself permission to be messy in it! One of the things I love most about being able to make something myself is NOT being precious with it--because I know how to make it myself, it's okay if I mess it up! Having the skills means you can always make another.
I consider the customization bits from different projects on my clothes like a functional scrapbook. I can look back at the spot of paint on my jeans and remember the fun I had creating. You nailed cute + functional + comfy with these overalls!
Morgan, you're such an inspiration! I often get overwhelmed at the design stage, thinking of the "perfect" design before cutting, to an extent that sometimes I end up just never doing it. Your enthusiastic approach of "let's experiment and we'll figure it out on the way, it's fun!" is SO motivational! It's like you're the Miss Frizzle of sewing. And the end result it always so dang cute 💚 (as it happens, I've been paralyzed for months on starting my dream pair of overalls - when I end up doing it, I'll add a little leaf motif in your honor!🌿)
Yes, this! Same as Rachel Maksy. I just love their approach of just going for it and figuring it out on the way. I stall on projects because I’m worried I won’t do something perfectly or I’ll do it wrong, but really everything can be fixed. If you make a mistake, you can alter something, you can do it again, or just start the entire project over! Sometimes just starting is the hardest part.
So much fun to have play clothes. We all need something that we don’t worry about getting them dirty or muddy or paint and stains. I use a lot of glues and have messed up some of my good clothes. I need these
So much joy! My first big pandemic project was combining a Japanese cross back apron with my favorite pj pants to make overalls. I’m up to 3 pairs now. After watching you- may make #4 😍
That design idea is genius. No bother with finding strap ends and buttons and not twisting anything etc. Minimal lines and shaping, maximum potential as a blank canvas to decorate in lots of ways.
Every time you do these off the cuff designs I desperately want to make them too! Give me the bravery to copy you 🙏 I have a yellow linen that would be so cute with sun motifs instead of leaves 😍
I gave up sewing for myself almost 20 years ago, but I’m inspired to try again. I think the problem was using patterns. Thank you for demystifying the process of creating a custom garment. I can’t wait to try!!
I love this idea and how practical it is! I would make a different one for each season- orange/pumpkin for fall, forest green for winter, and cute pink one with flowers or hearts for spring. You can do different fabrics for each season, shorts or a skirt, back pockets. It’s so adaptable and useful.
first thought was 'nice, off the cuff, happy little mistakes' but in a Bob Ross video there's usually a moment that makes me go uhhh (even though it turns out great anyway )- but there was none of that here; just immaculate cuteness from beginning to end! this is probably the most adorable piece of clothing I've ever seen, especially with the leave details 😍not only cute and unique but also practical ❤ if it wasn't for my habit of starting 99 projects without finishing one, I'd make one of them for all my friends' kids. and the moms. and me.
One of the many reasons I buy antique furniture is because I don't have to be careful with it -- it's already dinged up. So I absolutely understand wanting to mess up your overalls first thing.
I am VERY MUCH an overalls kind of person. Whenever I do not feel like exerting effort into thinking about my outfits, I just throw on one of my several pairs of overalls and be done. They are my signature piece of clothing and I thank you for giving me an idea how to sew one for myself
Overalls are already cute, but you found a way to make them even CUTER!! I actually work at fabric store with a woman who loves dressing in overalls. I believe hers are from a Burda pattern, but she makes them out of super cute fabrics with loads of vintage appeal. Between the two of you, I’m getting an itch to make a pair…
Ok, I don’t use a mic but that idea is perfect for my tens unit when I’ve got the electrodes on my back! And I love all the leaves and smocking and how you cinched it.
I'm getting a tinker bell at work vibe from the overalls! And every time you started speed talking through aspects of the project i was thinking "this is me with any project! 😅"
So flipping cute! The smocking and leaf pockets are just so phenomenal. It looks so good with the red jewelry and bandanna. Definitely one of your best projects!
It’s very strange how frequently a creator I’m subscribed to is working on a project very similar to my own. I love seeing everyone’s unique processes! Currently ive been making an overall style dress out of fabric I impulsively bought months ago.
What you did with the ties is genius! I am also impressed with how lovely the smocking came out without doing any markings first. It is just so dang adorable!
Ooo! You should totally make a leaf bandana! Vincent Briggs has a really good leafkerchief tutorial that I mostly enjoy watching because at the end he goes into the woods and camouflages himself with the foilage and there's nothing quite so delightful as watching a guy in a 1700s waistcoat pretend to be a dead leaf and anyways! I love your overalls. They are very adorable. I have a pair I made for myself last year and I've been procrastinating putting the last two pockets on, but now I'm all inspired to go do that!
This is such a great stash busting project! I can only imagine patched together fabrics to make the pant legs wider and add pockets. I love it! I definitely need to make my own "get messy in" overalls!
This has actually inspired me to go for a Viking apron dress but using the top gathering/smocking situation plus fabric belt of your original plan because I think it will make The Cutest and Most Comfortable Everyday Pinafore Dress ever. Thanks for your enthusiasm!
Thank you for giving us your measurements and the measurements of your garment! That makes it so much easier to adapt to our own bodies accordingly. Thanks!
Thank you for stopping to show us all the different stages and options that you passed up on. This was like a choose-your-adventure tutorial. We got to see so many ways that it could turn out! This was great!
I am in LOVE with this garment! The costume community focuses so much on “pretty” (which isn’t bad - I love pretty too!), it’s just delightful to see something made to be used. I might need to make some myself… ❤
I am so glad I found your channel. Not gonna lie: I found this while trying to make clown pants. Whatever. You are hilarious, and your attitude makes me feel much more comfortable about sewing clothing. Thanks!
OMG those overalls are fricking cute! I'm not an overalls/jumpsuit person myself, but that utility leaf pocket is definitely going on an apron or pinafore when I get around to making one.
I love how simple these are, minus the smocking which I have zero idea how to do. I may take a look at some fabrics next time I'm in the craft store and make myself a pair. They remind me of one of my favorite "fit everyone" garments, thai fisherman's pants. As a big girl, 48-49" hip, I have to buy the "jumbo" size, there's also sizes for thinner individuals, but you fold the extra fabric width in a single pleat across the tummy, pull a tie around from the back, tie it at the waist, then fold down whatever is above the waist tie. It's meant to have a number of extra inches of fabric at the top to fold down and it's usually in a nice contrasting color, but you can pull the front of the pants up or down under the tie to adjust the fit. The big ones are 72" circumference, but again, that leaves plenty of room to give you a nice, thick, front pleat which adds to the styling. The ingenious thing is that by pulling and pleating the fabric to the front, the extra fabric tucks between the legs and you don't notice it unless you pull the leg out to the side to show someone. The nurses at my gynob thought they were fantastic and actually asked where to buy them. That's usually the response I get while wearing them out and about. My mom calls them my samurai pants. 😅 I feel like I was kind of a mix of you and Rachel Maxie before I became disabled. Watching you both lets me relive those lost, or perhaps just buried, parts of myself and stirs the sleeping dragon of creativity that has been hidden for so long.
I love the whole process of how you developed your garment. All the iterations were adorable. You are truly inspiring and a whole lot more brave than I am!
These are SO cute and UNIQUE and I totally get the idea of „I‘m gonna mess them up on purpose so I won’t worry about them!“. Thing with clothes that are „allowed“ to get messy is they are often so simple and plain and only only practical. So you don’t worry about them but also you do not feel good in them. With these that’s not the case 😍
I litterally keep gasping when I see the next feature you add to these overalls. The leaf pocket is so adorable and I Loce the smocking on the back. And the gathered leg was not something I expected but I'm feeling it.
I have a pile of heavy weight red linen and i'm highly considering making some overalls with heart style pockets!! super cute and looks to be pretty simple
I saw the thumbnail and clicked SO FAST, these are so cute!! On top of the Korok resemblance, you totally give off Animal Crossing villager vibes with the mushroom-y accessories and crafting and joy 😍 The front pocket is like the leafy tree saplings in the games!
this looks like both a beginner and advanced sewing project (i'm more of a repair sewer/amateur and i want to make similar overalls now). like this project can be as complex or simple as you want!
I love it!!! I'm super unexperienced when it comes to making your own patterns and this looks so approachable. The smocking detail in the back is also gorgeous. For someone who has started wearing overalls as a baby and never stopped, this is perfect.
I would love to have a pattern for this outfit. It is cute. It is functional. It is practical. It is linen. That overs -all the reasons to make it. Lol
A roll of heavy lining paper from the wallpaper shop or greaseproof paper from the kitchen are cheap for making your own paper patterns. Taping both sides along the edges of additional sheets for extra width works. You can chalk or pencil your lines and erase any mistakes. Fold them up and label a large envelope to store for reuse.
I see you having multiple of these in different colors each with a different planty type theme. Like a red one with apple pockets, a light brown one covered in branches w/ redcap mushrooms to match your pilkadot headscarf.....
I have been delaying drafting a paper pattern to get it perfect before I cut out fabric. Watching you I realise years ago they didn't use dress making patters they cut simple shape and fitted them by trying on. Yours Is a much quicker way. Thank you for sharing your knowledge of clothes construction. I might never get my drafting a paper pattern done. Thank you 💖
i sooo feel u about preemptively dirtying stuff that u plan to get messy in anyways. i tend to do that with my sneakers because the stress of trying to keep ur shoes pristine is too much for me so might as well get it over with.
Thanks for including your height and hip measurements for reference! The vast majority of people sharing patterns or tutorials don't consider their bodies are not universal and their patterns may not fit a lot of people.
I love it! I love it messy because all those jobs -crafts, gardening, projects- are messy! Nothing is nicer than knowing what you have on is cute, but functional, and it won’t matter if it gets stains! It’s a win, win, win!!! I do love this outfit!!
I adore your dialogue because I've never seen a more accurate demonstration of what it's like to plan and problem solve sewing a garment. You talk through exactly what goes through my brain when I'm doing any project 😂
I have two pairs of overalls in a similar cut, and I have been wearing them all the time since it’s been so very hot. Mine have pockets in the side seams and loose, slightly high-water legs. They are wonderfully comfortable and I think they look pretty decent for everyday wear. I’m delighted to get your diagram, because I’ve been wanting to make another pair.
This is So cute! I haven't pulled out my beloved sewing machine in years and this has inspired me reignite my love for sewing! I let it stew in my mind for a few days and fought with myself over how frustrating it is to pull out an old machine and get the tension correct, but the desire to start learning (again) to make my own clothes won over in part thanks to you! 😁 Thanks for being your fun self and allowing us to hang out with you and learn new things. 🤗
I love these kind of 'happiness projects' 😍🎉 things that bring you joy, while also fulfilling a purpose. And if it ends up this cute (looks like something my animal crossing character would wear) that's a huge plus 🙌🎉
14:13 -- "In case this inspires you..." -- Yup. I am inspired! Looks so comfy. Perfect attire to curl up and read a great book, or binge watch a favorite UA-camr.😉🎉
I absolutely love the overalls! I wish I could make a pair right now, but I’m still a newbie sewer. I completely understand what you mean about getting your overalls messy as permission to do something that would get them messy. I used to be a perfectionist to the point that it often hindered me from actually doing anything. Something or everything ha to be perfect before I would start. I spent so much time doing and buying things that made the starting point of a project "perfect" that I never actually did anything. One day my intuition told me to do the opposite: wreck everything, then start. It worked. I had to consciously do it for a while but it cured me of the curse of perfectionism.
Absolutely cute, especially with the red bandana. I looked at this video because I was going to make overalls for myself, but I planned to use denim. When you said how heavy your linen was, it made me wonder whether it was heavy enough to stand up to gathering berries from thorn bushes. We have a farm, so mine would absolutely be getting a heavy duty workout.
This is possibly the cutest thing I have ever seen. All those lovely little details! I've never been one for overalls myself, but having a dedicated "messy crafts" outfit is inspired. I was so glad to see that you decided to go with smocking in the back, because that's exactly where my mind went, too.
I wonder if in 70 or 80 years someone will thrift those overalls and wonder what a button whole in a pocket is for? It's history in the making!!! This just makes me happy!
This turned out so cute! Love all the details you added. 🍄 Thanks for providing the measurements!! Totally going to recreate this for a friend that loves koroks!! 🌿🍃
I just... this project is SO YOU and I LOVE IT. I love the idea of having something that's adorable but also useful. I smiled through the entire video :)
Just FYI... the inside microphone wire button hole is extremely useful for people who use the insulin pumps that have tubing. I use a tubeless type now but have modified clothing in a similar manner in the past.
Was just thinking this! I have a port for infusions and having holes in clothing is so nice!
I learned something today! Thank you :)
I am slowly adding button holes to all my clothes for my pump line 😊 it is so nice to have
This is a really good idea. I've always had to worry about reaching under my clothes to access my pump. Thank you for the tip!
I literally came to the comments just to say this. I wear a patch pump now, but 10 years of a tubed pump left a lot of holes in my pockets. (Also, everything MUST have pockets if you wear a pump.)

Wonderful idea! That was my thought: "I wonder if that would work for a medical device?"
Read that as butthole 😭

first thought was 'nice, off the cuff, happy little mistakes' but in a Bob Ross video there's usually a moment that makes me go uhhh (even though it turns out great anyway )- but there was none of that here; just immaculate cuteness from beginning to end! this is probably the most adorable piece of clothing I've ever seen, especially with the leave details 😍not only cute and unique but also practical ❤ if it wasn't for my habit of starting 99 projects without finishing one, I'd make one of them for all my friends' kids. and the moms.
15:31 The mention of smocking made me smile.
Also, what's the belt hardware you ended up using?
Ok, I don’t use a mic but that idea is perfect for my tens unit when I’ve got the electrodes on my back! And I love all the leaves and smocking and how you cinched it.
I was pleased enough by the leaves everywhere else but when you brought out the back ties... AH! i passed away 😍
These are precious!!! Also, a Korok costume would be splendiferous - you could make mushroom maracas for the inventory expansion dance 😚
It’s very strange how frequently a creator I’m subscribed to is working on a project very similar to my own. I love seeing everyone’s unique processes!
Currently ive been making an overall style dress out of fabric I impulsively bought months ago.
Love the Gumby pants stage 💚. Your makes are always so interesting since so few makers use medieval aesthetics as their inspiration.
I have a pair I made for myself last year and I've been procrastinating putting the last two pockets on, but now I'm all inspired to go do that!
the "it's fine. it's fine" i felt so deep in my soul lol - these came out so cute, and you're so cute, and now I want a pair so we can be twins. 😍
TWINSIES HELL YEAH
These turned out so cute! I LOVE the smocking in the back, it really worked perfectly. And the leaf pockets... 🥰 I just adore your style.
I might need to make some myself… ❤
that pocket is so stinkin' cute
I feel like I was kind of a mix of you and Rachel Maxie before I became disabled.
It's so nice to see a patternless sewing video like this. Very much my vibes
Watching this wearing a pair of fun yellow overalls. Fate. 😄
I made overall shorts set when I was pregnant they were so comfy . I hope I kept the pattern . It had a yolk top and the square neck straps … loved it
I love this haircut and colours on you! It suits you sunny personality 💛
I need to add overalls to my project list. This is adorable.
This is filled with such whimsy! I love the details, especially the pocket's vertical leaf veins as utensil holders. Golly so cute.
Best and sweetest supervisor making sure you did the best job 🐈⬛ 💜
this looks like both a beginner and advanced sewing project (i'm more of a repair sewer/amateur and i want to make similar overalls now). like this project can be as complex or simple as you want!
I love it!!! I'm super unexperienced when it comes to making your own patterns and this looks so approachable. The smocking detail in the back is also gorgeous. For someone who has started wearing overalls as a baby and never stopped, this is perfect.
I always wondered what Mrs. Greenjeans wore!❤
I love them! And you made me feel like I could possibly even make some myself with maybe red and white polka dot fabric and toadstool 🍄 pockets xx
So kind of the little cat to support you whilst sewing.
They're so cute!!! This green is perfect.
The leaf pockets are so CUUUUUTE!!!! Using the vein details for little pockets is GENIUS
Oh my goodness! Your kitty!! ❤ so cute!!
You're so creative, but OH MY GOODNESS! Those front pockets for pens/paintbrushes between the veins of the leaf...Cutest. Overalls. Ever.
Thank you 💖
Now I may have to make that first version for myself. That was adorable.
i sooo feel u about preemptively dirtying stuff that u plan to get messy in anyways. i tend to do that with my sneakers because the stress of trying to keep ur shoes pristine is too much for me so might as well get it over with.
I love the direction your channel has taken. Thank you for keeping us informed and entertained!
I can't remember the last time I clicked a notification that quickly 😂 so jazzed for a new upload!! I love this already, just from the thumbnail ❤
This is one of my favourite projects you've ever done! The practicality! The experimenting! The whimsy! I really want to make something like this
I love these kind of 'happiness projects' 😍🎉 things that bring you joy, while also fulfilling a purpose.
Cute. Go with your heart on your projects.
These are absolutley adorable!!! Ive been wanting some more 'fantasy' utility clothes and this will be perfect!
I wonder if in 70 or 80 years someone will thrift those overalls and wonder what a button whole in a pocket is for? It's history in the making!!! This just makes me happy!
This turned out so cute! Love all the details you added. 🍄
Thanks for providing the measurements!! Totally going to recreate this for a friend that loves koroks!! 🌿🍃
Tis the overalls of The Fellowship 🍃 it's precious
I just... this project is SO YOU and I LOVE IT. I love the idea of having something that's adorable but also useful. I smiled through the entire video :)
Really enjoying this "stream of consciousness" project!
Oh my gosh, they’re so cute. 😭 I’m not one for overalls but so cute!
The leaf pocket is genius! 💖
OMG you look like an adorable forest sprite in them! I love them so much, those leaf details are so darned CUTE!
