Definitely want to explore some of the above treeline stuff on Mount Mansfield later this winter! Check out our channel for weekly backcountry ski videos in Vermont!
ahah i rode February 28/29 when we got 35 inches in 48 hours. this is on march 3rd, as i remember, the snow changed so quickly that week. was spring skiing the week after. i took a video on my ascent to the peak and it was a completely different experience, mansfield can be brutal with wind
Treeline on Mansfield is about 4,050'. Treeline at 69 degrees North latitude in Norway is about 1,600'. Treeline in the Himalayas is about 13,500'. Treeline has varying elevation based on multiple factors.
Western skier here. Thoroughly sick of creamy powder, knee deep, caressing your skis as you turn effortlessly in the fall line. This is much more invigorating.
ha its not great - I'm hoping to find an easier way out this year but for now this is it. The exit in this video is via the long trail hiking trail. Bring your short skis...
I remember seeing people go up to that "trail" while i worked there for the end of the season......its out of the boundaries of the resort. when you get off the gondola there are signs that say to ski it at your own risk its out of bounds of the resort but i think ski patrol might be able to get you if needed
Painful. We get amazing days & big average snowfalls in the "snow corner" of VT. This was terrible. Also, use those pole straps(provided you do it correctly to avoid hand/arm injuries). Still, props for getting out there & earning your turns. ✌🏽
The sounds of Eastern skiing! The death rattle of frozen crust!
You mean the sound of skiing in New England, not in the East since here in Québec we always have plenty of fluffy powder all winter 😅

The hills are alive with the sound of frozen crud.
crust mag
You make it look so appealing.
Dude. You ripped that! That was a mess! Lol...awesome. We are heading up there this morning.

I was there that weekend too - have to get it while its good because it can be gone in days
Stowe's woods are gnarly, I see some best tree skiers there.
it keeps me guessing
First watched it with the sound muted. Then watched it again with it unmuted. Yep. Sounds about right for the east.
Is there a more east coast sound?
Come ride in the Cascades of Washington. This video makes me not want to ever ride anywhere that sounds like this video
would love to
sweet shots with the drone.
drone flew successfully in -10 with 30mph winds, impressive tech
hearing treeline, was like, there are 11,000 + ft mountains in vT?

Look at sugar loaf sticker
Wow. Waiting for the powder dump to do that one.
Beautiful view but ice and rocks no thanks😊
Sounds like the east coast
eyo, that tree at 2:29 looking kinda sus, think he vented.

@@FilipLunt oh yeah now I see lol
Great Video!
thanks!
looks fun.
How long of a hike? Headed up next week and hoping to hit profanity. Want to plan accordingly!
Hats off for making the best of some nasty snow. Is it every nice?
Western skier here. Thoroughly sick of creamy powder, knee deep, caressing your skis as you turn effortlessly in the fall line. This is much more invigorating.
Why? To hike that for what we see in this video makes us curious as to where the fun is this. It’s about having fur right?
yep
Jesus the top of that was frozen rock hard ice! That didn't look like fun.
Yeah, it looked awful
Atris! Love mine too.
Profanity Chute. Must be the rocks
My god, that exit looks awful. Absolute luge track to get out of there, haha.

Loud pow thats the good stuff n shiz
classic New England crud!
That looked rough, hopefully some powder next time
How long of a hike to the top from the gondola? Did u say 2 hours?
Hey - from gondola is probably 20 mins, Easy to do. 2 hours from parking lot
Sick

I see why it's called "Profanity Chute"
Well on a high note if u can ski that u can ski just about anything else

you don't use pole straps while skiing
Shoulda been there yesterday
Noisy Edges! lol
Attempting this in a month. Any tips?
That was brutal. Much respect but I would have taken a hall pass on those two days.
ive skied better lol but now I know where to go for when it is good
@@looselybound1715 We have all been there. Looks like it would be epic on a good day. Thanks for sharing.
Sounds like vermont
Sounds like a bunch of tin cans being dragged behind a car on a wedding day. Or a normal day of East coast sking!!!
no matter what
Why?
Indeed
your upper body would not rotate so much if you used your pole straps..
ha - probably, it was really cold so I rushed to get out of the wind
People told me if I ever ski in the woods and your poles get snagged you will wrench your shoulder or arm if you have the straps on?
@@Roderic66 use releasable straps....
@@Bushwackerinpa Thank you

That does not look fun. "It was better last week" it would almost have to be.

yep snow sucked, got up there to a nice crust layer
So. Noisy. Yuck.
