You NEED to try Shazans on lozells road- their shepur is donner is absolutely amazing, really spicy and flavourful and unique- a absolute hidden treasure . My husband is from Manchester and everytime we visit my mums in Birmingham he doesn’t leave without having one and sometimes takes one back up with him! An absolute must try and right up your street and you cannot leave brum without trying it!
For some great afghan food, visit Kabul Darbar in Alum Rock, best chapli kebabs around. For shawarma, Istanbul shawarma in cape hill Smethwick, is a fantastic place, the prices are also more reasonable there.
Great review as always! on a side note I don't think anyone in Birmingham eats in city centre unless they have to. A lot better alternatives in Birmingham :)
My recommendations are: 1. Mouchak Street Ltd, Coventry Rd. They do amazing platters & reasonably priced 2. Old Damascus, Coventry Rd - half grilled chicken off bone with rice and salad 3. Aziz pizza 4. Sheereen Kadah- 11am visit Sat or Sunday- Halva puri with chana and best katlamas in UK with amazing red chilli sauce 5. Dixy- Nechells- original owner from Alum Rock Rd... 11:30am visit anyday when everything is fresh, mega mix spicy chicken burger.
Whoa Mr "worth every single penny" Ali back again with a quick in and out HD Shawarma video. Love that you put the receipt on display (really nice feature) Surely with a Shawarma, you have to have it with Garlic sauce. Isn't that an unwritten rule?.. Very bold of you going for the Falafel, early days you didn't like them, are they growing on you? This one clearly didn't to justice.
Al Badrs on Ladypool Rd will definatley get a heyy mann. Personally I get 2 shawarma wraps (1 chicken, 1 lamb) I can not get enough of it. Especially with their home made garlic and home made chilli sauce.
You need to go to Damascena in B'ham. Shawarma city is kinda a dirty kebab-ish shawarma (taste amazing) but Damascena is more authentic in taste and ingredients (Khubz, tahini, kabees etc)
@@tonysoprano4086 yeah I agree the shawarma wasnt anything amazing and plus its tiny compared to this place. Although last time I went I'm pretty sure I paid 6 or 6.50 for shawarma chips and a drink so a shame its going up in price
I'm going to vouch for Al bader although I'm not too sure about their shawarma, Theres a place in small heath, just off Coventry road that specialises in lamb dishes. It's called Momo's, definitely would recommend it
Try burger and sauce in Birmingham when you're down again, they do fairly priced chicken and beef burgers. Beef burger I got was good but slightly overdone, but the chicken one was really nice.
Check out Fuuegos on Warwick Road in Tyseley. Its a hidden gem, their burgers are amazing and their creamy naga chips are the best around. Trust me you will not regret it
Dixy in Nechells is the best dixy around not your average dixy they use there own spices in the sizzler chicken, there niblets are a must try and chill sauce is 🔥
smaller good takeaways are in my opinion: Kebabish portland road - recently tried their pizzas which are really good and the lamb donner is always good. Hassan kebabhouse I recommend the COD masala fish in naan and maybe their chicken fillet burger (which is massive). Best pizza place I know is toppings in cape hill Smethwick or Caspian's again on Dudley rd.
Yes bro! Them 2 plates looked TASTY! Need to come up north man.. So many different spots plus the overall vibe up north is different to London. Fair priced too! Keep it up akhi 👊🏿☝🏿
The best shawarma in Birmingham is Erbil shawarma on soho rd handsworth. It has a tropical salad/fruit section with so many pickle variations to chose from for your toppings on your shawarma sandwich.Even the lamb shawarma is 100% Lean lamb with 15% fat ration so it’s juicy and succulent. No place like this in Birmingham even though all shawarma places are same and bock standard
chicken is amazing when its the first cut. because you got there early, you got the best, crispy on outside and juicy inside cut. after then it goes downhill. lamb on the other hand is consistent.
It's hard to suggest to suggest that tourists venture out to suburbs like Lozells, Erdington and other areas though - yes, they're only 3-4 miles outside of the centre, but they are quite dangerous if you don't understand the landscape.
Hayman, you should try the pizza place next door. There is another Shawarma place literally across the street from Shawarma City called MAKAN. I think it's much better.
A good sharwama place Is izmir restaurant ( 18 alum rock road ) By the way alum rock road is very busy so it isn't the best place to use a camera as there are a lot of people there
You went to tge wrong place ! Makan is around the corner there shawarma wraps are soo good. Btw i work on union street so have eaten at all the places in town and makan is better than shawarma city i find them too greasy
