      They've already got the technology to clone these animals. Extinction isn't the problem. The real threat to these animals comes from global warming. If things continue the way they are, much of the African continent (as too many parts of the world) will be uninhabitable for mammals in another 20 years.

    • @opheliabawles9646
      @opheliabawles9646 6 років тому +1

    • @Dave-rm1mb
      @Dave-rm1mb 6 років тому

      @@zebrazxx No need to apologise although I thank you and accept it. Well its not so much about worrying as one way or another, those animals are going to be going bye bye as too most large mammals there including humans within the next century. The problem with humans is that they've become so arrogant they actually think they can beat nature. They actually believe for example, that global warming is all down to humans and that there's no such thing as cycles which is essentially saying they don' believe there's been ice ages/hot periods in the past..
      I could reverse this and claim that liberals are this way but there goes hehe. If mankind along with the animal kingdom is to survive in the long term then it will be by cloning mate.

    These guys seem to really do a good job here. They recognise that they need to be humble and show respect and understanding towards the local people, making it clear that they realise that they are guests in their lands and want to listen and learn from them. That they are not just trying to come in and run things.
    Also explaining to them how while yes poaching might feed their family today, but in the long run, it will destroy their childrens livelihood and chances to succeed because without these animals, nobody will come to their communities. Their wildlife is the key to their success, and that what poachers are doing is killing the goose that lays the golden eggs. I'm so glad that the person at 11:15 was able to understand this, and i have nothing but respect for that person for revealing other poachers. He was able to see that what he was doing was destroying the livelihoods of his children and grandchildren. Good for him for admitting the error of his ways, and to the man who made him see it.

When you offer a starving man the equivalent of 3 years salary (could he even find a job) - he is willing to lose his life to feed his family. Stop the buyers - and you stop the poaching. In order to fix poaching in Africa, there needs to be a structural reform across the continent. As long as there are a mass desperate people in Africa, poaching and many other crimes will be eternity.

    There is a way of stopping poachers - have the supply far exceed the demand. Scientists need to find a way of growing keratin horns, then make them look like rhino horns and sell them en masse on the market. Rhino horns are about $50,000 a kilo, so if people can produce perfect replicas for like $500, poaching will stop being profitable.
