This is an old video because I know Sudan has since died. I had the privilege of seeing the last three northern white rhinos in existence. A few months after a pregnant female was murdered and her horn cut off. It was so sad to witness the man made extinction of a subspecies. All the gentle giants that I saw were all related and so could not breed, the females also had difficulty conceiving and couldn’t be impregnated with frozen sperm. Although the end is here for the northern whites, the southern whites and the black rhino live on and we need to do what we can to stop those species from going extinct as well. They still have time. Whether it is from new or old sources - never buy Ivory or horns - don’t feed the industry.

Growing up my favorite animal was the white rhino , I remember being in 2nd grade , drawing them and looking for animal books in the library. This is heartbreaking 😢
The root cause of this are the superstitious and ignorant people mainly in Asian countries who believe that a rhino horn has some kind of medicinal or healing properties. So, they are willing to pay exorbitant sums to get it. The poachers in Africa are also responsible, but there would be no market for the horns if the buyers in Asia were a little better educated and lot less selfish. Tigers are facing the same problem.
Sudan looks content, there’s a melancholy I see in his eyes Perhaps it’s human interpretation but I do feel he died knowing he and others around him tried And he died an old man, knowing he tried That’s more than most humans die with
Fun fact: extinct rhinos 1. Southern black rhino (1850) 2. Western black rhino (2011) 3. Vietnamese rhino (2010) 4. Indian Javan rhino (1920) 5. Northern Sumatran rhino (unknown) 6. North-east black rhino (early 20th century) All extinct because of poaching
So when he passes their will be zero white rhinos left? Oh wow. Hope they will be able to save the species. They are def the best out of the 3. I can’t believe it’s not more of a bigger deal to be honest. They should have started a breeding process when they’re were like 10 or 15 left not just a couple
It’s too late even when there’s a few thousand left, largely because of a lack of genetic diversity. Genetic testing recently showed that while conservation programmes for the North American mountain lion have been somewhat successful, they are sadly quite inbred and probably don’t have a great future long term.

he died in 2018 :(
@@mintyvin7038 Then I hope he's in heaven having fun with his family
This makes me so angry that poachers do this and never regret it. This inspired me to become a conservationist no matter what happens. I’ll help protect endangered species even if they attack me.
That’s it I’m taking action and I’m not gonna see another animal go towards extinction I want to help all the animals that are at risk of becoming extinct because without animals our world would fall apart rhinos are such gentle giants and we’re killing them just for money greed so take action and help endangered species today thank you ❤️👍
Sorry just watched that they are doing some very important work, thank you from my heart.
And now it’s official .. very sad day
Bad news: Sudan died, meaning the species is now functionally extinct as there are no males.
We can thank despicable humans for the loss of these beautiful rhinos and many other animals in our world.
“For these men who are small they can never stand tall while giants still walk in the light”
-George RR Martin’s “last of the giants”
Growing up my favorite animal was the white rhino , I remember being in 2nd grade , drawing them and looking for animal books in the library. This is heartbreaking 😢
Yeah. I used to crawl on all fours and ram the bottom of our couch with my head pretending I was one.
Fantastic film, not sure when filmed? Sudan died in 2018
It was filmed in 2016
The root cause of this are the superstitious and ignorant people mainly in Asian countries who believe that a rhino horn has some kind of medicinal or healing properties. So, they are willing to pay exorbitant sums to get it. The poachers in Africa are also responsible, but there would be no market for the horns if the buyers in Asia were a little better educated and lot less selfish. Tigers are facing the same problem.
They're going to eat money when they've killed of everything including trees
Paneling also suffer, their scales are also keratin but they are also the world's most trafficked animal
Capitalism is the reason. That's why this was never stopped. That's why money spoke loud enough, the greed of a view was more important.
Apparently a lot of the rich Chinese who buy rhino horn don’t even ‘use’ it, it’s just a status symbol.
i never thought id tear up over a rhino before
Poachers that knowingly hunt for near extinct animals are some of the only human beings I wish death upon.
How these beautiful creatures lived for millions of years but couldn't survive a few millenia of humans sickens me...
Sudan looks content, there’s a melancholy I see in his eyes
Perhaps it’s human interpretation but I do feel he died knowing he and others around him tried
And he died an old man, knowing he tried
That’s more than most humans die with
"As long as people believe in absurdities, people will commit atrocities." -- Voltaire
This rhino looks so depressed 😭
Beautiful Rhino 🦏🦏🦏 guys 👏🥰😍
Fun fact: extinct rhinos
1. Southern black rhino (1850)
2. Western black rhino (2011)
3. Vietnamese rhino (2010)
4. Indian Javan rhino (1920)
5. Northern Sumatran rhino (unknown)
6. North-east black rhino (early 20th century)
All extinct because of poaching
That’s not a FUN fact.
That’s a morbidly depressing one.
No one cares
What a remarkable young man.
Need to save that species all things well change for everyone
Thank you so much for taking care of those too I really appreciate that I love those animals I love animals
So when he passes their will be zero white rhinos left? Oh wow. Hope they will be able to save the species. They are def the best out of the 3. I can’t believe it’s not more of a bigger deal to be honest. They should have started a breeding process when they’re were like 10 or 15 left not just a couple
Sudan is the last male. He died in 2018 though in the description it says this film is from 2016. There are two females left only.
Sudan already died in 2018
There will be no Northern White Rhinos left but there is still a relatively large number of Southern White Rhinos which are the other sub species.
The breeding program has been going on for about 100 years.
It’s too late even when there’s a few thousand left, largely because of a lack of genetic diversity. Genetic testing recently showed that while conservation programmes for the North American mountain lion have been somewhat successful, they are sadly quite inbred and probably don’t have a great future long term.
Notice how it starts off very very sad with Sudan's story. Then ends with a hopeful happy ending with baby Rhinos survival story. Thats Hollywood psychology.
