@1:46:40 at the left bottom you can see his shadow holding a stick with camera on it. So it probably full frame camera that record 4k60fps hdr with a gimbal to improve stability. I am amazed how he record with those heavy setup for 3 hour straight.

Depends on the time of year. Japan has a distinct rainy/monsoon season in the Summer. I was there for a week and a half at the end of September and it was overcast almost the entire time, though it only really rained hard once. The Winter is drier on average.
