  • Our communities are in dire need, even while more than a trillion dollars in charitable “gifts” are locked up in private foundations and donor-advised funds (DAFs), rather than being used to support our nation’s nonprofit sector.
Join us as we address the pressing issue of philanthropic reform, sponsored by the Oregon Food Bank, NonprofitAF, CalNonprofits, and the Institute for Policy Studies.

Vu, it's not just hoarding! It's the naming of buildings and programs for those giving a mere fraction so that they might claim a right to be lauded.

Thank you for an excellent conversation and for some actionable items we can all take to move this conversation and action forward. Just imagine all of the amazing and critical work that could get done in our country we even just a 5% difference in payouts etc... Nonprofit folks are incredibly creative and impactful with funds and the time is past overdue to invest in the changes we need. thank you

In my perfect world, this Chuck Collins and my past YMCA colleague and friend Chuck Collins (now retired CEO of the San Francisco Y) would be chosen together to refine the interface between nonprofits and donors!

I have no idea what your main point is? If organizations want to donate and save taxes simultaneously, so be it. It is their money. Without wealth, many of us would be out of jobs. If you force payouts, then the money will go elsewhere. Maybe this is simplistic thinking, but you do not want to alienate those with the money.
