The thing that sold this for me was the trunk in the bed , being on a volunteer fire department and having to keep my gear in my Subaru hatchback gets old especially when my gear is dirty from a fire so being able to just stow my dirty gear in that trunk would be a blessing, and being higher off the ground will be a nice change
castlem0re I couldn’t agree more. I had the first generation and absolutely loved it. I moved on to a tundra purely for my towing needs but that ridgeline was great. I’m not a fan of the front end styling on this new one though b
castlem0re no it's not. F150 drivers bought pickups cause they need something that the ridgeline doesn't have: a frame and solid axles. Ridgeline isn not a truck. It's a car with a plastic bed.
I definitely wouldn't compare it to an F150. Still, this is a vehicle thats more usable. People always buy what they don't need. Most trucks are city vehicles and never tow once. The Ridgeline will hold a pallet of mulch and supplies from the hardware store and is easily the best riding truck in its class. Can tow light trailers as well. These SHOULD sell better but people want to compare penises instead.
I currently own 2017 F-350 dually. But I have always been a honda fanatic. My first car was a 1997 Honda accord, Second Car was a 1998 Honda Civic. Third car was a 2007 Acura TL. First motorcycle was CBR 600, 2nd motorcycle was CBR 1000RR. Take this from me people, Honda is the definition of reliability and dependability. I've never ever went to a mechanic shop while owning any of these except for oil changes. I once didn't change the oil on my CBR 600 for like a year and a half and there was no water in the radiator the whole time and it still worked like a champ even in the crazy summer heat of Florida.
We recently bought a Ridgeline for my wife. What sold us was the ride, the trunk, and the fact that Consumers Report recommends this as a buy. We haven’t regretted our decision. Great vehicle!
I have the 2006 Ridgeline, I have more leg room in the back plus I love how you can't see in my truck bed. Must say love the out side speaks awesome add up!
I own a Silverado, but I used to subcontract for a guy with a Ridgeline and he absolutely loved it. It’s not meant to be a heavy use commercial truck though, so I don’t understand why people are criticizing it like that’s Honda’s claim. The Ridgeline in my opinion is good for a weekend do it yourselfer that may need a truck here and there but doesn’t want to get 12 mpg.
Lol idk whos truck gets 12mpg, i daily drive a 9yr old silverado with a V8 and get 17-19avg MPG, AND it looks like a real truck and has real truck capabilities
Same here. Every reviewer complains about modern Hondas ditching the volume knob, but having actually lived with one, it hasn’t been an issue. I just use the steering wheel controls. I never touched the volume knob in my old car either.
My Chevy Malibu 1LT has radio controls on the steering wheel as well as a volume knob in the radio. Doesn't make sense having two volume controls in the vehicle.
Want to update from my 06. I, personally, wouldn't worry about no volume nob for the radio because I would use the volume control on the steering wheel. That's pretty much what I do on my 06.
Also when you need to get in the bed instead of hopping on tailgate to get in you open up the bed with the latch and use the bumper as your step it works great because it lets you get close to bumper so it acts as a step
Probably the dumbest statement ive heard today... it has storage, actual trucks have tons of storage. It looks terrible, no ground clearance, looks terrible, no hauling capacity, looks terrible, etc
I've always been impressed with the Ridgeline, going all the way back to the beginning. Honda tends to make good vehicles, which is why we have 2 Hondas. I personally prefer a truck with a bit more, such as an F150/F250, but the Ridgeline has a lot of cool features that would actually suit my needs better, since I don't often have need for a truck. Excellent review!
This truck is basically a Honda Pilot with a truck bed instead of third row And also the trunk has added in 2017 has a drain plug for ice if you want to put drinks in there
Not bad. I have a Honda fit for every day driving(looks similar to this inside) , then my 06 Duramax for play. Wish I had some of these options in my truck.
This thing is fast af for a "truck" or ute as what we call it. I want to imagine the Ridgeline Type R, if it ever will exist, that will be the ute of my next buy, if the Ridgelines are even ever gonna be available for sale here. Closest I ever had was a Subaru Baja and I miss it
Yep, for 99% of the time I keep mine in "Econ" mode. It just makes sense when driving in the city. I love just about everything about this truck except the lack of knobs for the radio and not being able to lock the tailgate. Yes, for $80 you can get a kit and add the tailgate to the rest of the power locks system, but I see this as a big oversight by Honda and honestly I'm surprised! You'd never think about locking the tailgate until you're looking at tonneau covers. Other than that, I love the ride, the quietness, the fuel economy and the perfect size that it is for me since it fits in my garage just fine.
Honda Ridgeline is very need vehicle. I like the traditional volume knob on the radio also. And driving element even though I have volume controls on the steering wheel actually use the knob more often.
If you would like to adjust the volume at a drive-thru. The volume knob is on the left side of the steering wheel up or down can't miss it. At a drive-through the person would be on your left anyway so going all the way back to the right to find a volume num probably wouldn't make much sense. This comment is meant in the most positive way so if taking in a negative way you got the wrong interpretation.
Have had mine for 2 months. The radio volume can be adjusted on the steering wheel with left thumb. all it really lacks is a locking tailgate. I have a cover on my bed and a locking tailgate would improve security. Also the inbed trunk does lock. Only regret is not buying sooner.
6:00 thats the only part I didn't like about the Ridgeline. otherwise am 99.9% sure am buying this when I get a better job or save up in 5 years. I love the SUV feel of it.
That trunk would be super cool with a 12 volt refrigerator/freezer in it. I didn't catch if you said it was offered on 4x4 or not? And is it front wheel drive?
Gerard Arciga first off it does not have a CVT transmission and secondly I think it was Roman he’s an idiot the way he drives you could get any vehicle to overheat.
The lack of a volume knob is something that's mentioned as a negative in every review. I haven't personally touched a volume knob in my own vehicles since 2003, and I'm sure I'm not alone. Otherwise, solid review.
But will it tow my 14,000 lb Fifth Wheel??? Seriously, though... I actually saw someone post that in a Ridgeline forum. When you showed the shots of the bed, though, it kinda looks like it has the fifth wheel puck plugs in the floor of the bed, right over the rear "axle." Great review. I wouldn't trade it for my Ram 1-ton to tow with, but it's a very nice vehicle.
According to Ford, no. Depending on configuration, loading and options, a current F150 will tow up to 13,200 lbs.: www.ford.com/trucks/f150/features/Capability/f150-towing-capacity/ I would recommend at least a 3/4-ton or 1-ton to tow anything over 10,000 lbs. Only part of that is about the engine/transmission/driveline and suspension. The real question is, "Can you STOP it?" The guy towing a fifth-wheel with his Ridgeline is really pushing things with his home-grown engineering, but he is towing a VERY light trailer. Under 4000 lbs, or so.
Ah too bad. Where I live the law says any trailer above 1000 lbs much have electronic brakes. So really as equipped from factory if it doenst have a brake controller it cant pull 5000. When I was buying my f150 the salesman said it could tow 8000 lbs no problem.. just as we were finalizing the deal it occured to me to say wait a sec it has no brake controller. He never would have even brought it up if I hadnt, but he covered the cost to have the ford factory one installed in the deal. I know most people dont even tow but its annoying having a 3rd party stick under the dash install.
Oh hello there again Big Truck! Ok let’s me get this out right away, I feel the Ridgeline is a very fine well out together and designed minivan with a bed, this is not a truck in the traditional sense. But is a great family vehicle for the home owner that loves to do projects around the house/yard. Maybe even for towing toys, to the lake/water or small camper, all in style that while not for everyone ( my tastes run with my Colorado Z71,4x4,V6 Ext Cab.). But I can see quality when I see it and the Ridgeline is a high quality piece, that I can see me migrating to in a few more years. See at 63, I’ve retired and moved to sunny Florida, so no more snow and ice for me! But seeing as how we have always owned a 4x4AWD truck or SUV, my needs for a serious off road toy has changed. I’m now looking at getting a ZR2 Ext Cab for my utility needs and towing our travel trailer that I’m sure will never weight too much for a ZR2 to handle. But I also love the Chevy Volt, for our go to go out vehicle to save and on fuel. Or just keep the Colorado we now have, seeing as how we’ve owned that for 2.5 years without any issues. So maybe we will keep that and get a loaded Volt.
A ridgeline? Really? Basically an odyssey with a bed and no third row. Great review though. I do appreciate that. And the bed was impressive. Thank you.
Completely different vehicles. If you want a truck or off road vehicle get tacoma, if you want an SUV with little to no tow/haul capacity but a bed, ridgeline
A "truck" has always been body on frame. I would still take a Colorado or Canyon over this Honda any day. But Honda built a vehicle for a niche segment of the market. I'm waiting to see what the new Ford ranger will offer.
lance ripplinger cars were all body on frame as well..... so were horse drawn carriages. Technology changes and improves. Frame based trucks have advantages but also draw backs. Depends what you need it for.
The truck side, rear and interior look good but that front looks like a suv, if the front was a bit more aggressive/ stylish then I’ll probably consider it. Still a good truck though.
I currently drive a 2017 Accord coupe and I love the feel of the car and the look of it. But the rattles are horrendous. It seems like the whole passenger side rattles. Also, the paint quality is quite awful. The worst I've seen on any car.
David Schlueter Actually, I've owned 4 Fords, 2 Chevys, a Jeep, 3 Toyotas, and a Hyundai. Honda takes the cake for the worst paint by far. Very disappointing. Also, most professional detailers would agree that Honda has amazingly soft clearcoat that comes off very quickly. That's not very good for a daily driver
I thought I would just comment back I’ve got an 07 fit an 08 Honda fit they’re both really old and the paint still looks awesome on both cars. Probably just don’t take care of your car not to mention looks like you have own a lot of cars I drive my cars like 15 years to 20 years
Hard to call the bed useful and resourceful with that spare tire location. Blow a tire? take EVERYTHING out of the bed and trunk in order to get the spare out. That's my only real complaint against the ridgeline... that and the inability to comfortably sit a family of 4 if the driver is over 6ft.
Allen Brennan, I’m pretty sure the range isn’t just an explorer... It’s like saying the truck community will except the Tesla pickup truck when it come out as a truck. Don’t get me wrong I love Tesla but it’s not going to be a real truck!
Big Truck Big RV, I don’t know what you mean. What is the truck version of the expedition? I guess the Tahoe has that weird avalanche or whatever it was called. And you lost me with the Yukon
Nope definitely not a truck. Nothing about that is a truck. Monobody, no haul capacity/very low tow capacity, no ground clearance, looks like a shitty SUV, lower than a Canyon, etc etc. Not a truck.

damn...did you just convince me to buy a Honda ridgline... gotta get the wife to approve but I'm sold
Ridgeline interior space is best in class with the most rear seat leg room.
Honda Ridgeline is very need vehicle. I like the traditional volume knob on the radio also. And driving element even though I have volume controls on the steering wheel actually use the knob more often.
look at the hood on the Canyon, is that open or just a poor adjustment. wow thats bad
That's awesome that they r comeing out with a truck that has spicker in the bed of the truck. But I like the lay out of it. Which it was a 3/4 ton tho
The trunk is a golfing trunk owners dream
The width of the bed!!! You can put full sheets of drywall in it. You CANT do that with a Tacoma!

Im in love with this truck
Very informative, like every video!!
The bed audio uses “sound exciters” which vibrate the 3 bed panels to produce the sound. It doesn’t have traditional speakers mounted in there.
The Ridgeline reminds me of the Chevy El Camino / Ford Ranchero from the 60's-70's. Cars with a truck bed. They were real popular back in the day.
Well the secret trunk is no longer secret.

The RTL-E and Black editions are only AWD. The base model is only available in 2WD. The mid-range models give you the option of either one.
The walls and front of the bed are the speakers.
Don’t forget to mention that it overheats going up gold mine hill in Colorado with that CVT transmission
Gerard Arciga first off it does not have a CVT transmission and secondly I think it was Roman he’s an idiot the way he drives you could get any vehicle to overheat.
Ugly looks gone with new features. That's awesome
Is there not a volume control on the steering wheel? Is there a camper cover for this truck yet? Also, you may catch heck over that purse remark😜
Is Honda only having extra boxes?
As a tall guy, I worry about being able to fit . . . would a 6'4" body fit in there?

Why do u need a volume knob as a driver when there is controls on the wheel to do that?
It's basically the Avalanche bed 7 year's later with added features.
In a vehicle that gets twice the mileage
Would love to see those bed features in a body-on-frame truck. Something I can legitimately use off road. Preferably in a Half ton.
So what is the bed made of? Some kind of plastic?
Am I seeing provisions for a fifth wheel hitch in that bed?
Wish they would bring over the 10 speed as it would provide extra acceleration and a bit better gas mileage.
But will it tow my 14,000 lb Fifth Wheel??? Seriously, though... I actually saw someone post that in a Ridgeline forum. That's my only real complaint against the ridgeline... that and the inability to comfortably sit a family of 4 if the driver is over 6ft.

I love all of the features this truck has but it’s just so ugly.
Pickup for house wives
A rigline is not a truck
you're right. I don't even know what a Rigline is at all.
I agree, if it's not a Peterbilt or a Kenworth it isn't a real truck!
The ridgeline is basically a Honda Pilot that they chopped the back end off of. It’s not a truck...
Could you not technically say the same for a Tahoe, Expedition, and Yukon?
1259bogs ..... a dakota is just a durango with the back cut off and a box instead...... Ranger is just a explorer ........etc etc
Not a truck. It's a heavy duty car with a plastic bed. Honda duped you all !!
lol. strongest bed there is.
It's not a truck
This thing is not a truck.
Not a truck....almost unsubscribed 😉
By definition, it's a truck. You're just simply being a truck snob.
Yo mama think it's a truck.
Sarcasm, people, sarcasm. I'm a proud Honda owner....but my truck is a F350 lol
Nope definitely not a truck. Nothing about that is a truck. Monobody, no haul capacity/very low tow capacity, no ground clearance, looks like a shitty SUV, lower than a Canyon, etc etc. Not a truck.
