Poets of the Fall deserve so much greater name recognition. That song came out in what, 2006? I’ve listened to it hundreds of times. It never loses its flavor.
Marko Saaresto is one of the most amazing vocalist that ever exists. I was very lucky to have a chance to make a song with Marko. A dream come true. And I'm very thankful to these guys. If you guys are interested about hearing this song, feel free to check out here: ua-cam.com/video/vbBByd5UgzQ/v-deo.html
I've loved their music ever since I heard "Lift" in the end of the Futuremark 3D Benchmark test software (essentially, an extensive 3D demo that tests 3D card capabilities) and then heard them play an acoustic version of Late Goodbye, the theme song of the game Max Payne 2, on a Finnish talk show. PotF is one of those bands I've been buying physical CD's from, to support the band. I've seen them live 3 times, when they've been to my home town Pori, two times in the audience with my wife and once, as part of concert security. Love Marko's voice. And as a nerd who once dabbled with computer programming (did graphics and dabbled with coding, mainly on C-64, then moved on to Amiga), I love the fact that their keyboard player was Captain from the Amiga demo scene!
I actually came very close to requesting that one. The song itself does a perfect job describing how I feel when I listen to Marko's voice: "Chills...chills come racing down my spine...."
Have had this number on my playlist for quite some time now. Really enjoyed this live version. And totally agree on his tone and voice. Really good lowkey voice that just sounds awesome.
Thank you so much, Beth! I'm happy you found Marko's voice as beautiful as I do (and this song, which is my favorite song in the entire world :-) ). Since you mentioned his baritone range and noted a couple of spots where he goes into his head voice for higher notes, I thought it would be interesting to show his range for anyone unfamiliar with his vocals. Contrast his deep baritone in the song False Kings ( ua-cam.com/video/vkweStbjjSE/v-deo.html ) to his clear, sweet falsetto in Cradled in Love ( ua-cam.com/video/bp0AHQooVSY/v-deo.html ). I'm a contralto (or a low mezzo soprano, depending on what reference you look at), but I have trouble singing Cradled in Love in the original key because the low notes are out of my range--but when I raise it up so the lowest notes are just barely reachable, the high notes are right on the bleeding edge of my high range (and this from a song written by a man with a gorgeous, deep baritone voice :-P ).
This was a nice surprise! Love POTF, Marko is one of my favorite male singers. If you're going to react to more of them I'd highly recommend their unplugged studio live version of Temple of Thought. The first lyrics are how I feel each and every time...'chills, chills come racing down my spine'. Edit: There are too many songs I could list, they're all so good. One of those bands that just deserves so much more attention. Hopefully, this will catch on with some of the other Vocal Coach Reacts.
Randomly stumbled this video on my recommendations, but I've been a long time fan of Poets of The Fall. I really liked this video for two reasons. First off, I was happy to see someone else enjoy this band so much! Secondly, the way you broke down the way he sang, the nuances in his tone and voice, and the way he does it, gave me a newfound appreciation for Marko's singing even more than I already had before. While these aren't usually the type of videos I watch, I am very glad to have found your channel and I hope you find much success in what you do!

@@FzNd I agree that this is a very good version too. At the same time, I really love the job they did at the Royal Albert Hall with the symphonic orchestra. This adds something new to the music. But well, this is just a matter of preference I guess :P
My favorite too. Though, I wouldn't say that EVERY song is a masterpiece. I mean, there are plenty of songs that don't sound unique at all. Take, for example, Dancing On Broken Glass.
@@fredericksharon6908 I just found it as the most generic song they've ever made. The lyrics didn't stand out, either. Really, the only good thing I found with it was the message. Poets of the Fall is a Finish group. He is my absolute favorite lead singer. I love everything they have done. Very distinctive voice. Two others that I especially love are Daze and Craddled in Love.
*Finnish 🙈, Finish makes it a bit different 😂
One of the songs I will listen to for the rest of my life without ever boring me...
i couldnt agree more ;)
Why can I only leave you one like?
Please, name some others
Just listen to daze and choice millionaire
You will know his vocal reach on that song
Both really good, Marko's warm tones are amazing and then he can still come up and just blow you away with not high highs, but powerful highs.
Marko is an amazing singer and he was actually classically trained in singing 😊
I think you should take a look to a live performance of Daze where he does much more falsetto and higher notes and you can appreciate his range
Please, TYPE O NEGATIVE - Black No 1 at Bizarre festival.
The lowest, deepest voice ever with 0 effort.
Peter Steele's voice was one in a million.
9 minutes of absolute darkness.
And beautiful song
The most underrated band ever...love from Assam,India

@@yellowbat79 You've just ruined that fantasy for me. Thanks, dick. lol
One of my favorite bands. In my opinion they deserve way more fame. Each song is so unique, great lyrics... so rare in modern bands.
I'd love to see your reaction and opinions on:- Pearl Jam - Black MTV Unplugged
- Rainbow - Stargazer
stargazer n lots of blackmoore's song is an institution,,not just a song

Very bad acting in the video Ma'am
HIM - Wicked Game At Rockpalast 2000.
You will aaaAAA fall in love.
Before every one kills me saying there are better songs. In THIS specific concert Vallo shows all his wide vocal range.
Watch it, and then kill me
Vocally, I think you’d really enjoy Black Bird by Alter Bridge. Miles Kennedy is one of the most dynamic rock vocalists out there. And Black Bird is a really emotive song where he shows off his range.
Live at the Royal Albert Hall version would be amazing!
I've suggested this before, and seconding it now
@@fagsixela I think the live in Amsterdam version is even better. But any of the high quality versions out there are brilliant.
@@FzNd I agree that this is a very good version too. At the same time, I really love the job they did at the Royal Albert Hall with the symphonic orchestra. This adds something new to the music. But well, this is just a matter of preference I guess :P
Do this reaction pls. The live one.
My favorite band of all time! You’ll definitely find that every song is an absolute masterclass in emotional depth and poetic songwriting.
My favorite too. Though, I wouldn't say that EVERY song is a masterpiece. I mean, there are plenty of songs that don't sound unique at all. Take, for example, Dancing On Broken Glass.
BigFry9591 fair point.
@@BigFry9591 dancing on broken glass is pretty good.. I guess it plays with the emotions 😊😊
@@fredericksharon6908 I just found it as the most generic song they've ever made. The lyrics didn't stand out, either. Really, the only good thing I found with it was the message. And even then, it was very straight forward. Their songs used to be very cryptic, meaning they can appeal to almost everyone (since the meaning was harder to find).
@@BigFry9591 i love that song,
I was so very surprised when I heard this particular song for the first time. The tone of that voice, just captives and tugs on one's emotions. Masterful work there.
Oooooooo I've never heard this version!! Poets are so good! Check out Locking Up the Sun for a more aggressive vocal and Sleep for a lullaby I've played my son since before he was evicted from me hahaha
Beth: I like that Lust.
😂😂😂
Lusshhhhhhttthh
Oh my god, my heart jumped out of my chest when i saw the title of this.
Thank you for this reaction, I love this song! This performance is from a Finnish TV show where ppl surprise their loved ones with their favourite songs.
Poets of the Fall - Cradled in Love, has him really exploring his vocal capabilities, do a reaction to that one
Damn, haven’t heard Poets of the fall since “Late Goodbye” on Max Payne 2, awesome. Nice to know what they’re doing now
Such a full voice. 👌🏻👌🏻
Tool - Wings for Marie pt1 and pt2(10,000 days). Both need to be listened to together. Please and thank you
awesome reaction mate ! please react to Daze by Poets of the fall
I remember when this song came out like 10-15 years ago... I don't think I realized back then, how great it is...
It's Finnish, by the way.
Please react Poets of the Fall - Temple of Thought (Unplugged Studio Live)
