It’s interesting-I feel like The Spine’s been getting sillier in recent performances and videos, and I think part of that is due to the energy Zero brings, but watching these Balboa Park videos makes me feel like he’s going back a bit to early Spine who was less rigid of a straight man and goofed off more, like in this video. It’s nice to see their performances evolve and change over time 💜
I noticed that the Jon never pulled the lever for the trapdoor... He should of pulled it after "Musical Arguments *click* Ahhhhhh..." and Rabbit would make it seem like there was a trapdoor.
I once asked them about it and they said the general rule of thumb is the person who does the majority of the vocals usually also wrote the song (which makes sense). This makes me wonder though as quite a few of the songs I enjoy the most are Jon songs, so I'm interested in what the future will be for those songs now that he's not around.

This occurred to me too while watching it just now. But it's important to note that the bits in this video are very well-rehearsed. If you watch other On Top of the Universe segments from this era, they're identical--because they stayed to a script. It's reprov essentially. Zero's character introductions were nothing alike either. They have a few reprov bits because they have to interact with Bebop, Qwerty, Steve and the Walter Workers, but anything with just the bots talking changes every show. And the last UA-cam show, in particular, had me literally laughing out loud. :P So basically this old bit is so funny because they had done it over and over and over and tweaked it many times.

She's always on my mind
And God it'd be so kind
If you could let me be
For my entire life
I never knew what love was like
But now I've felt its touch
And its far too much
For me to hold inside
Feels like I'm
On top of the universe
On a shootin' star
Life is so wonderful
And everything is by far

Feel like I've never felt
Seen things I've never seen
Being with her will make me happy
And I'm falling in love

A love that feels like this
Don't ask for any more
Just run and go with it

And everything is by far
