Rusty Weave Studios, Excellent tutorial. Great speaking-presence of mind: No wasted syllables such as "a". No nervous laughter every few seconds from a speaker who's mind is racing to keep up with his tongue. Great certainty about what to do next on the Zoom and then getting straight to a no-nonsense explanation of same. Keep up the great work. I just gave my Zoom to my brother-in-law, so I'll be sending him here to help him get started w/ it. Keep up the great work. I subscribed!
Mark, that was a very strong compliment the man kind enough to share his knowledge on this product. I just received mine a few days ago and read the owners packet and had more questions than answers. This video however was loaded with answers to my questions and I can't wait to get busy. Thanks for a helpful video.

So far I must say your video is the best, I've gotten very frustrated going from video to video just to watch people ego tripping on how great they are but showing you nothing. Some videos are dark and grainy while others the guy is zipping through the controls you can't even keep up with what he is doing....good job 👍
Thank you Rusty for posting this video. You are very clear and easy to follow along with. I have found that if I have my unit plugged in and ready, I am able to copy what you are doing. This makes learning so much easier!
thanks for the help, - i just got this little recorder, and the reason was that i bought a synth that does not have a sequencer, so this will be nice instead of that, greetings from Levi in Sweden
Thanks for the tutorial! I wonder if this recorder allows us to put different drum patterns in a single song, is it possible to put them one after another? like intro/chorus/bridge?
Good video. Can you or anyone help me with the pre count using the metronome plz. It seems random after the first attempt. If I mess up and start again the pre count hardly ever works. I cant figure out what I'm doing wrong or not understanding
This is a huge help. I've had this machine for like ten years. I'm not a tech guy when it comes to digital recording. Used to the old tape machine tascam put out years ago. Anyway, do you run this recorder thru a pa? Your guitar plugs directly into the zoom then? I feel like I can finally start using this now without feeling overwhelmed.
Yes, just plug your guitar in and select an effect for it (clean, distortion...). You can run this recorder thru a pa or like me, go directly into my monitors. The R8 has everything from eq, pan, mastering...
this was really good but I missed how you assign the input to the track. You pushed record on a new track and it just kept recording input one. What if you want to use input 2 or both, or both for separate tracks?
SIR, Thank youNO PROJECT, , this is my very first time using it, in the screen it says No Project, when I press the buttom PROJECT, i says NO PROJECT, what i am doing wrong?
hey rusty your videos have helped me greatly. I was curious if u have ever experienced noise when using input 1 when using you're guitar? it acts like the input levels are up to high but it works fine in every other way. just hoping it is maybe something I'm doing but not hopeful. ty my friend
Have not ran into that unfortunately. Try just toggling input one high and low. Might be the guitar jack or pickups? Not sure man, hopefully a solution comes up for you!!
Can it record 2 different track together at the same time ?.. let's say each one for vocal, and 1 guitar.. (while live performing)... and what's the file format ?. is it WAV ?..
Takes normal guitar patch cord. Does not look like it fits but does. And you can plug in xlr mics in same input. Its a dual purpose input jack. Very cool.
Hey I saw your video on the first time of using the zoom R eight track recorder. I have a question that I’m trying to get answers for and have been spending all day with no luck. I have my effects turned on, pressed the insert button to insert effects, but cannot seem to get a sound for reverb. I even made sure that reverb was on, went down to try and select a patch but nothing seems to happen, then I go down to try and select the type in the levels and all that great stuff, but there does not seem to be any sound from reverb, just the instrument that is playing through the track recorder. How do I ensure that I have sound on the reverb on my track recorder? Does the reverb only do one track recording or can I do stereo recording with reverb? I have been going back-and-forth from the manual, to UA-cam, to calling my local Guitar Center store, to trying to locate the number for the zoom services where I got the product from, and I am just not getting anywhere. Could you please help me out here? Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for your help in advance. I have also purchased a multi-FX processor and guitar petal box for livestreaming and audio. I saw the number of FX in that, and it really stomps the FX on the r8. I can’t wait till it comes. Its gonna be lots of fun.
@@richpumphrey2048 OMG dude. I see what you mean! What FX processor did you get?!?! Exciting. For the fix: > Effects, pick the clean algorithm. > Pick a empty patch. > Edit >5 or 6 clicks left arrow pad will be Reverb. > You will actually hear it on the instrument. The way you were doing it before I guess it is just a "Send".
@@RustyWeaveStudios Sorry it took a day to reply, but we had a big bridge collapse in my city of Pittsburgh and updates kept coming in. I got a guitar FX petal that has 100 FX which has a screen so you can select the type of effect, adjust the attack, rate, ratio, and amount of the effect, (volume and level) I cannot read the name on the box, but it is so awesome, it was produced in 2020. It uses a USB for livestreaming online and updating any software I guess, in the unit, and I have actually hooked it up to my Zoom 48. Thanks for checking the zoom r8 out for me and coming up with a solution to why reverb does not work with all FX. Hopefully this new FX stomp box will work.
THANKYOU! I just got one of these units and have done a couple sample recordings that I can play back once I record it, but the next day only the name of it is there, no sound. What am I doing wrong?
Hey bro, I am thinking of buying one of these used. I want to use it to loop my Pocket Operators which have line outs in mono/stereo mode and can sync the BPM. I also have an iPhone and Android with apps which I could use the headphone cable with a splitter to somehow sample and import/export I was thinking. You are very advanced at this stuff. Is it possible to replace the sounds in the kits for the drums and presets with like my own sound packs from Kontakt or Serum/Omnisphere loops? I am wondering if I can copy patterns and use USB with a DAW to actually alter my tracks using MIDI cables if the inputs support it. I should do more research lol
Yea man great question. I have not use the unit as a daw. You would be able to plug other drum units to the R8 and record them. Changing what is there is unknown to me unfortunately.
Does it also export each track separately like the H devices? Also, do you record it onto an SD or is it also possible to interface it directly to your computer? And can you change the samples and add custom sets of sounds?
Great video! I have a question though. I want to add effects to both my 1st AND 2nd track but it seems to only let me put an effect on 1 track. I've read the manual and it doesn't offer any help. Any ideas?

I have not been able to figure out how to edit the drums from the original pattern I chose. Do you have any insight on this? There are many many vids on using the R8 but nothing on editing drum patterns chosen from the drum library.
