It was for trucks first not marine. It was also in the Iseki tractors. the isuzu 4bb1 is a 3.6lt .4bd13.9 , 6bb1 and 6bb1 . these engines had the same liners. the 4cylinders engines used the same heads and blocks even through they had the model cast on the block. the county had that electric control motor to stop it in 1985 .

as far as i know the main difference between the 4bd1 and 4bd1-t (mil spec) is that the turbo motor has piston oil squirters and had dual oil filters, and the rocker cover has a hump on the turbo motor (not sure why though).

You are the number one man,if l remember when l was a war mungar the army required a land rover to tow our L5 guns, thats why they have the upgraded Salisbury diff and the bigger engine, the civilian version county had the v8 and Isuzu like my county, army version 4bd1 and 4bd1t had the 4 speed lt95. Civilian versions have both lt95 and lt85 5 speed. I after a spare 4bd1 where do you keep that one at night.

All I can add is that the 4bd1 in my stage 1 ute was deafeningly loud. Do some sound deadening on the bulkhead before you put it back in.

I have a 4BD1 in my 86 County 110, and they installed the IDEK motor to turn off engine with the ignition. Used to have a Stage 1 109 with 4BD1 and it had the manual turn off cable pull. They modified the internals on the County Models, for they definately were quieter than the earlier Models. I even installed the extra Tappett cover/Timming covers on the later County models on to my old Stage 1, but it didn't make any difference.
    Fantastic video !

Thanks Geoff for another Great Video. The Isuzu engine has been used in many different applications. Land Rover being just one of them.

Nice work Geoff--i'm not 100% sure but I think the 4BD1 might have also been used in a Forklift too

i had a 82 Stage 1 from virtually new and the rocker cover was cast ali as opposed to the black pressed unit is would see on all others i happened across. A guy from the Aust LR owner club i met in Kunnunurra in 92 told me they fitted a few industrial/stationary versions at one stage of production. Never found an answer to that.
