A very challenging shoot. Would there have been any point to trying a very small, portable blind or was that not an option if this was in a state or national park? Just for laughs, maybe a small square screen painted to look like you were shooting out of a car. It would be a great story if it worked. Good to see you're still doing some MFT shooting. It looked like you were using the OM System 150-600mm zoom. How do you like it?

Bruce good to hear from you. So yea, the small blind would be tough as you have to travel to get to them and the places are so big that you really have to locate them with scopes or driving miles. A smaller place where you know their given paths then the small portable blind would be the ticket. So the 150-600 is nice, It is heavy for sure more heavy than the 150-600 contemporary on the canon cameras. Sharpness, focus, IS is all there. The only drawback is the size and expense. I think OLMPUS took at heart to add another 1K in expenses to the lenses for reselling. I know it is a sigma sport with revamped internals as well. Its overall a good lenses and the King for MFT if you are serious about birding or wildlife. Most people with MFT will go with the 100-400 lenses but for me it is the ticket.

I stayed as still as I could in my easy chair, to help not scare them off. In other words, I was right there with you while watching the video. LOL Nice work..

Is it me or does the OM5 have quite a bit of rolling shutter? I just saw some jello there on the long shots.

hmm, hard to say i was shooting some of those shots at 2400mm and had to apply anti shake to the video... I think it does have some rolling shutter but if you add in the long distance with heat waves / cold waves and other items i think it makes it look worse if you know what I mean.

Were the photos taken with the "Olymous" 150-600 and digital converter?

ahh so , i used the 600mm and sometimes used the digital tele-converter built into the om5. I like the flexibility of using the 2x digital converter that up-sizes the images.

@@MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_ANYWHERE One question: I now have the Olympus 100-400.....is the new 150-600 worth the extra cost?

    • @MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_ANYWHERE

@@richardfink7666 sadly for me yes it is. You get extra reach, extra background separation so it looks like an apps-c or full frame when zoomed in on medium size birds and larger game. Hope this helps but the lens is BIG and heavy in comparison be warned.

Hey no doubt lol. I did have 2400mm with the Olympus which is kind of close can get up to 4800mm with the adapter. But I get what you are saying thanks again for watching.
