The cast and Tron legacy director leaving are both pretty concerning, I think the only way they could get me hyped right now is if they had Justice on the soundtrack.
I'm purely speculating here, but a way *how* "Programs" and vehicles from "the Digital Realm" in TRON: Ares ***might*** be able to be materialized in "the real world" hypothetically speaking. A more advanced Shiva Laser System materializing system (much larger, more advanced) materializing **programmable matter** that shapes itself into a humanoid (with cyber armor and tech), or even a functioning Light Cycle, etc.
It's definitely going to be a Recognizer after the CGI is applied. It probably attacked Encom, which caused the rubble to fall, and Greta's character to get injured. I get the feeling that these 'red' programs are probably from a different system, as we've never seen any others like them before. My guess is they come from Edward Dillingers and/or Dillinger Jr's. system instead of Encoms.
Look, I know I can’t stop any form of criticism of previous characters not showing up, Daft punk not composing. But you have to understand that some movie stars move on whether we like it or not. New characters can be a good thing. As long as some past events in the ‘real world’ are referenced, I’ll be satisfied. As far as Mr. Leto, I’m going to give him a chance. Edit: Maybe working with Disney could be a fresh start. His portrayal of the hatbox ghost in the haunted mansion movie was chilling.
Tron Legacy is my wifes favorite film, we've been watching it at least once or twice a year since we started dating. She loves the music, visuals, action, story. I think it's actually a phenomenal film, and highly underrated. That being said.. I really hope they continue that story in some capacity in Ares.. and it's not just set in the Tron World while pretending like that film never happened. It would feel weird for Sam Flynn, and Quorra to not react to Programs entering the real world.. With Sam taking back over the company, it feels like he should be heavily involved, yet he's not in the cast. I'm curious how they're going to write them out of the plot, or if they're just not going to acknowledge them at all. Feels weird to not show them, especially knowing it's about the programs entering the real world. You can get away with it, if it was just Jared Leto entering the grid, but having the Programs come into the real world, they should show Sam Flynns reaction to that.
Sharing a release date with Atla is concerning, but knowing that both these movies are heavy CGI shows, I'm sure at least one of them will move. It'll probably be Atla like you thought as Paramount often moves release dates around Disney so they don't compete too much. I just hope there aren't any re-shoots and the script is solid at this point b/c VFX studios do their best work when given the most time, which they don't have enough of it seems like. Legacy's VFX shots took 2 years to complete. It's only 1.5 years until Oct 10 and I just know whatever studios are included on this will be working until the release day to finish it. As a VFX artist myself, I am very worried that Disney will push out the film unfinished/keep the release date rather than pushing it back so we get the best result. Heavy CGI movies having completely redone shots on the Blu-ray release vs the theatrical release is more common than you'd think now

3:56 looks like one of those platoon transport vehicles and not a recognizer as you can clearly see wheels on the lower half of the vehicle

That is so true and the stories I've heard of overworked VFX artists remind me of the stories about overworked game programmers.
