‘Go’ was more so their I guess you could call “rebellious phase” and it was the comeback where Jaemin came back after almost 2 years of being in hiatus for his back.
When fans saw that they were very shocked cause they went from singing “We hot We young” to “Were so young, were so freaky” 🤭That was really the moment people thought of as “Ahh..the babies are growing up”
And I just think it's so fun that now. looking back, they were still babies back then haha. It's literally a teenager song, where they are acting all grown up and that's just so funny hahah. But I just cant believe I simped for them back then when Go was released bc I was in exactly that same phase hahaha

We Go Up best Dream title track 🗣 🗣 🗣 lol I’m so glad you’ve gotten to these. Honestly, I think you’re right Dream seems to have a big Korean fanbase in particular. Obviously we love all the units equally, but I feel like each unit has a region that favors them. Like 127 is big with international fans, WayV with Chinese, and Dream with Korean.
In my opinion NCT dream has the best chemistry as a group and it's probably because they're so close. I haven't seen a group as close as them. Like there's not a single member who's awkward with another. They basically grew up together. They even attended Jisung's elementary school graduation and now all of them are adults. And they grew up in front of everyone since their Mickey Mouse club days so that's probably the reason many people love this unit (apart from the songs ofc which are obviously great)
Actually, since NCT Dream debut at a reaaaaallly young age, you can see their growth in music's concept. All their MVs before 2018 (chewing gum, MFAL, we young) have a veryy cutesy vibe. After that (Go, we go up, boom, ridin) have a late teenage young adult vibes. So...yeah, they are very charming indeed ^^
I like their friendship and personalities. That's what draws me to them.

Fun fact: "We Go Up" was originally meant to be Mark's NCT-Dream graduation song. As you might have noticed, he is kind of highlighted in this MV and a lot of the MV looks like the members are just hanging out and partying, etc. Some of the scenes in the MV are actually the members just celebrating Mark's last MV with the NCT-Dream members and the members saying goodbye to him as their leader, etc.
Mark -- the main rapper, who is also in NCT-127, NCT-U and SuperM -- is the oldest member of NCT-Dream and he had recently turned 19 right before this comeback, so that is why this was a graduation celebration.
NCT-Dream is NCT's third sub-unit, which began in August 2016, and it is made up of all the youngest members of NCT, All the Dream member's are currently between the ages of 18 and 21 years old -- they were 16-19 in this MV -- and they were 14-17 when they debuted. SM originally created this sub-unit with the idea that If they had a trainee that they felt was ready to debut even though they were really young, they would start out as a member of NCT-Dream. They were the cute babies of the group who were learning the ropes and honing their skills because they are young, but they are also some of the most talented because they debuted way sooner than a lot of trainees. The way NCT-Dream originally was designed to work was that the members were part of the group until they turn 19 and become an adult. SM's original plan was that when the members turned 19 they were supposed to graduate from the group and they are no longer considered a member of NCT-Dream. As I mentioned, Mark "graduated" from NCT-Dream in 2018, and Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin and RenJun, who are all older than 19, we thought would be graduating sometime last year. (Which would have left NCT-Dream with only 2 members, with the idea that new trainees would probably debut sometime last year and become members of NCT-Dream.) However, SM announced at the beginning of 2020 that they decided to make NCT-Dream a permanent group and suspend the whole " graduation" concept, including putting Mark back in the group.
So, when the group debuted, and currently, NCT-Dream was/is a 7 member group, but between 2018 until close to the end of 2020, you will see Dream with only 6 members. Even after SM announced the reintroduction of Mark as part of the group, Dream had a few comebacks without Mark, because he was busy promoting with NCT-127 and SuperM. (Mark is one of the busiest members of NCT because he participates in almost every project that NCT has ever done since pre-debut SMRookie Days, as well as several solo collaboration projects with other SM artists, and now as a member of SuperM. Some say Mark is SM's favorite NCT member.)
We Go Up is iconic and a masterpiece
We Go Up was the last comeback with Mark before he graduated from dream. In the MV you can see an emphasis on him and time with a few shots of an hourglass. Plus he has a bunch of fun little adlibs throught the whole song which i love ❤

Idk if you noticed but Jaemin was absent from My First and Last and We Young. He took a year long hiatus during this time due to injury.
I think for me, the "We Young" MV was so cutely done, there's an innocence to it that the "We Hot We Young" line just doesn't bother me. Idk how to explain it but I see it like boys being like "yeah, we're so cool!" in a boyish sort of way? Like boys trying to act grown up. but you know they're still children. It's the same vibe as the MFAL MV, they're clearly crushing on a teacher but it's not seen as like a sexual attraction but like the innocent admiration.
Personally, I think "We Go Up" is the best concept for NCT Dream. It's such a bright youthful look that sets them apart from the other NCT units but it's not overly cute like "We Young."
NCT Dream was my first NCT unit I checked out and got into, I think I got into them after We Young era but even after getting into all units I still consider them my favorite. I also believe their choreos are more crazy than the other units, We Young got some hard moves including floor work.
Also We Go Up fun fact; idk if you caught it but there was a small scene of just the members hugging and that scene was just them having a moment caught on camera but the pds decided to keep the clip in, it was such a sweet moment bc of also at the time it was supposed to be Mark's last song with Dream
When I discovered NCT, it took me over 1-2 months before listening to NCT DREAM because I believed they were “the unit for younger fans” so I thought it would be too cheesy for me. Now they’re my favorite unit BY FAR, not only are the songs great (b-sides are not kids friendly 😝) and their personalities and chemistry is something else! You can see they’ve been together since so long.
I recommend to you watching some lf their mini-games to get to know them more and have a great laugh!

when i first got into nct (and kpop in general) i never thought that dream would end up being my favorite unit but you are so right they just have that special charm that makes you adore them so much hahah
Just hearing we young makes me smile, honestly NCT Dream has helped me through the mess that was 2020, they are SO charming and talented and loveable that even thinking about them calms me down, they deserve everything 😭

A lot of Dream's songs (mainly title tracks) are such feel good songs, but they also always feel timeless and very steady. Since the early days they've pretty much released bops after bops, despite their young ages. What's cool about the fact that they debuted so young is that they pretty much documented not only their personal growth (they quite literally grew up before our eyes) but also their journey as artists and the progression of their music. I feel like they're very underrated in that sense, they have so much more growing to do and they've already shown so much. From their choreographies, to their music, their personalities and the way they work as a group... it's all there. They're a very tight and close group, who genuinely adore each other and work so, so well together; in every single way. More than any other NCT unit, I feel like (and this isn't to shade anyone, I know all fixed units have their own charms and are close). But there's something so special about these kids. They're the future of SM and I think they're going to continue to surprise a lot of people in the (upcoming) future.
One more thing to add: I feel like a lot of people are still quite hesitant to give Dream a chance because they very much still see them as kids and have this idea in their head that Dream only does cutesy/young concepts.. Whereas before that would have been the case, had they kept the graduation system, it no longer is. They're all adults (I need a moment) now, their music and concepts will continue to grow with them and I hope more people will realise it, sooner or later.

Confession time: my first and last is one of the songs that helps me with my anxiety, seeing the boys smile and their voices all cute rly helps my heart feel at peace.
ALSO, for NCT in general, I recommend watching Doyoung's covers on the NCT Music channel, Back 2 U live in Seoul, and Doyoung's appearances on The Masked Singer. He's my favorite vocal cause he's so good at showing emotions.

whether or not we young is someone’s favorite title track from nct dream i seriously wont hesitate to fight if they say they don’t like the album as a whole. nct dream generally never disappoints but there’s something so nostalgic, so carefree, so happy about the we young mini- i could cry for hours bcs it’s so uplifting in dark times and i could also put it on during the summer and just jam to it. i do appreciate their more mature sound (go is my 2nd favorite title from them) but the dreamies have such a way with more upbeat songs, being happy just doesn’t seem forced or too much for them. so if they ever wanna repeat this as ot7, well........ i’ll be waiting with open ears 👀

NCT-Dream's "My First and Last" is kind of like the Kpop version of the 1980s song "Hot for Teacher" by Van Halen or 2003's "Stacy's Mom" by the American rock band Fortunes of Wayne. LOL. And some even compare it to "Replay" by SHINee. Because all of these songs are about teenagers having a crush on an older woman. :D
AHHH! This just popped up on my recommended and it's the fourth time one of your videos has. I think it's time to subscribe lol. We Go Up is definitely an August song, It's like the dog days of summer where you're holding on to the feeling and appreciating it more!! Dream is my favorite unit, mostly because they are close to my age. I'm a few weeks older than Chenle. I would recommend Go and Boom from them if you haven't already watched. The Go MV is one of my favorites. The visuals just strike a chord with me, and it feels like NCT Dream. I love to bounce to it in my room. Anyway, Thank you for the videos!!! I love your takes!!
My first and last choreography are some of the best choreo in NCT. and the music itself never gets old.
I highly recommend for you to check out some live performances and/or dance practices for these songs! The music videos (as great as they are) usually don't really do their choreographies any justice!!

I'm really into nct dream like they're my fav ultimate unite, is a combination of their songs and their chemistry cause they don't feel like a kpop group they give me vibes of a group of bestfriends (like a group of 7 guys of the same age) that their hobbi is sing, dance and do the kpop thing in their free time
You should check out everyone's favorite track from them- "Go" from the NCT2018 Empathy album. That was my fave too before "Deja Vu" from the NCT2020 Resonance album came along
Last comment, I promise: I don't know if you noticed that Jaemin was not in the first two songs, but he was absent at the time due to health (back) issues. I recommend for you to also check out Dream's NCT 2018 song called GO, where they sort of switched concepts with 127. It's such a cool song and surprised a lot of people at the time, and it's also the first one where they were back as 7 since their debut. Candle light is another one to check out as well as the collaboration they did with HRVY called 'Don't Need Your Love'! All 3 songs have their own music videos :)

Well you just had 3 bops there! The dreamies are very special to me, probably because I got to know them as people through content before I really committed to loving the music. Even the younger stuff grows on you until you can't help bop along. I can't wait to see more of their potential in the next few years.

I'm so glad you enjoyed all of these!! sadly a lot of people don't like we young's music video which is a bit of a shame because it was one of my favourite eras song-wise (it was their first mini album and imo has no skips - and if you like renjun you'll love my page) and styling-wise (their stage outfits were all adorable!!)
also you were totally right about we go up being a late summer song!! it was released right around the end of august, and it was mark's "last" comeback with dream (before he graduated lmao) so i'd say it does have some sort of melancholy tone to it - we go up also comes after nct 2018's dream release "go", which has a more rebellious concept so it's sort of part of their growing up theme :] the album also has some great songs like dear dream which is sort of an ode to mork
