My Mother’s Choke Cherry Creek Legacy

This is the video we played during the fashion show at the Big Sky Indigenous Woman’s Gala April 15th, 2022. My mom had no idea I was dedicating this first fashion line to her and we all cried when she reacted to the video! It was an emotional night! Especially thinking about my grandmother’s (Kaale’s) too!
My mom Donna Howe Ridesatthedoor is a huge inspiration to me and she is an amazing woman! She is the original creator of Choke Cherry Creek. She started designing contemporary Indigenous clothing starting back in the 80s and even held fashion shows in college along with other Indigenous woman.
All these months of preparation I kept thinking of just how greatful I am for her and her teachings, she taught me to sew at a young age. Through the years I’ve always relied on my sewing skills to make regalia for my family and also bead, which is another passion of mine. I am very thankful that I learned these things, they have become so important to me and I very much enjoy creating!!
My spring collection, “Honoring Our Mothers Collection” will be available in May 2022!! Thank you everyone for all your kind words and support! 🙏🏽💗
