I'm from Andhra Pradesh. As I listen to more and more Tamil songs, I realise how beautiful Tamil language is..There are many songs with beautiful poetry still missing from mainstream. Though the translations are a big help, it's a totally different experience when you understand every line while you're listening to it. Something,however, is always lost in translation. If you love music and you know Tamil, you are blessed.

Whenever I didnt like a Rahman song on first listen, I also restlessly said "Rahman has lost it. He should go back to his Roja days. He is using too much Western influence" blah blah... Then a few hearings later, I get attracted so much to his new song that it stays on my playlist for years. Rahman is trying expand the horizons of Indian film music by bringing in new sounds. It doesn't sit in immediately, but it gets to you. And tomorrow when some other composer makes a similar sounding song, it sits with you quickly because Rahman has planted the seeds for it already in your brain.....

Only A R sir can compose tunes where these kind of complete poetric lyrics can fit into song.. without change of lyrics ...still unbelievable fresh sounding and tunes everytime I am blessed to be a Indian in AR era ..and proud of him..though I don't understand tamil language much... I appreciate the legends...great AMV( AR, MAN,I VAIRAMUTHU)
It is not fair that Mazhai kuruvi has double the number of listenings than Bhoomi Bhoomi. Though Mazhai kuruvi is a soulful melody magic of Rahman, yet there's nothing new there music wise. No experiments there...whereas Bhoomi Bhoomi is something different entirely and hauntingly beautiful. It also needs more appreciation...but then I guess it is not everyone's cup of tea. People love more what they are already familiar with.

It is different to hear a 90's style melody with no clear pattern or no predictable progression. Apart from "keechu keech" the tune is completely free flowing, and that's new when mixed with sounds we were familiar with from back then.
Yeah, but it isn't a romantic love kind of a song right? That is more like praising the beauty of nature, love the nature kind of love, I guess.
@Cholan Raje Yes, but isn't that style a kind of trademark of Rahman? Most of his songs do not restrict themselves within a particular repeating pattern of music. They are free flowing and that's why we don't get tired of listening to it. I'm not saying Mazhai Kuruvi doesn't deserve this much appreciation. It deserve every bit of love and the poetry of Vairamuthu in that song is...just wow! I'm just saying it isn't a new kind of experiment from Rahman, but Bhoomi Bhoomi is kind of one in a way and also needs as much appreciation.
Ajoy But the music is different. And Bhoomi, talking about the troubled relationships in an "action" kinda tone has also been done before.
I have no words to describe ARR and Vairamuthu. Two gems of Tamil cinema. Woah I am falling to a sea of mesmerism with this song.

The first time you hear it, its difficult to understand the symphony in the track but as you hear it a couple of times you really understand the complexity of the rhythm even thought it sounds simple.
