Really nice explanation. I do love your work sir..For beginners like me, this explanation is excellent and enlightening. More open insight about the chord progression used. Once again, Thank You
That's so cool! Thanks a lot! I'm not a thue musician, I play by ear, and the way you show the logic of voicing is just pulling earplugs out of your ears! Appreciate you're doing this!
Hi Paul jow can i save the fly me to the moon beggie thanks i know its not the whole song but you did a great job of transcription i like to at least learn what you did
@@Jazzmentl Maybe I expressed myself wrong ... I like a different style of playing. I don't even know how to define it. This performance is too "lively" for me. I prefer when the music "flows" :)
Yes definitely every further lesson on the subject of harmonizing this song and improvising on this progression would be welcome. I think she is using also Barry Harris 6th diminished scale system, are you familiar with the concepts? It really helps in this kind of style to simplify the chord movements and the harmony. I would appreciate your take on that!
Hey Francesco, yes the A- to E7b9 or A - to diminished chord is part of the Barry Harry 6th diminished scale system. The minor 6th or diminished 6th or flat 6th (all the same) are part of the major bebop scale. In C major this would be Ab. It adds the extra note to the scale. In A minor though the passing note (or extra note) can be the major 7th or the flat 4th. Either is appropriate. I will try to explain this in another video when I get the chance!
@@rullirosandi3281 I will think about producing more Barry Harris tutorials. In the meantime, did you have a look at all the different playlists on my channel?
Hello Sir! Can you tell us/show us what she is doing at about 1:18-1:20 or so in her video? I love this arrangement she does. Thanks for all you've shown!
Yes, it's simple triad voicings within an octave in the right hand and 4ths in the left hand. Here's a link to a screenshot of the sheet music for this section jazzmentl.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/beegie-adair-118-to-120.jpg
