The dead hedge is such a good idea 💡 it will make a good dog 🐕 👍 boundary for the bottom of my garden, use up lots of spare pruned branches and rot down and feed the hedgerow plants I have planted but will not be mature enough for a boundary for a couple of years yet. Thank you

Hello, This is a fantastic idea to find uses for the natural recourses already there on the farm. I would imagine if you were to plant berries or hedge type plants underneath they would grow up through and eventually when the branches all decompose there would be a row of perennial berries, hedges and bushes in its place. What a fabulous hedge! I’ve been thinking of creating something like this with the school gardening club around a bed of bulbs. Each child plants one when they start at the school. It may save the bulbs from footballs and little feet!

Is there a problem with having sides on the beds? I do not know much about Charles Dowding so my question is does he have different approaches for different climate regions or is it one size fits all?
@@UrbanWhiteBuffaloFarm Thanks for asking. There’s no problem with sides on a raised bed in my garden. The sides hold the soil in. Admittedly, the sides can harbor slugs, but we have ducks that gobble them up. One size does not fit all when it comes to this method. 😊
I grew up in America, so that word is familiar to me - and to many others. It also flows off the tongue more easily than ‘Smallholding’ which is a word I use interchangeably if you watch my other videos. As for the English language in general, it evolves over time and I think you’ll find that British English has borrowed from many different cultures. Why do you still use beds,lots of no dig gardeners including Charles Dowding don’t use “sides”on there beds anymore ?
As I explain in my video, we get a lot of rain here and having ‘raised’ beds ( with edges) helps to prevent erosion. Thanks for watching 😉
