Ronnie Tutt, Elvis’s drummer, said when he auditioned it was like playing drums for a stripper and Elvis loved that analogy! He followed him around the stage and played depending on what he did!
@@kristine0 My Husband was a musician, he said he'd be terrified to play with Elvis because you never knew what he was going to do! Or, for long! He also said it would be an honor just to stand on stage with him! My Husband's 2nd cousin was Mel Tillis! So, music was his life.
I can see why your husband would say that but I also agree that it would have been amazing just to stand on stage with him. I was born in 78, obviously the year after he died so I never got to see him live but my mom, aunt, and friend did.
They had many awesome back n forths.. You had to be on your toes but they knew his signals and him so well.. What a beautiful man he was..

His Backup Singers ( The Sweet Inspirations ) said it was sometimes hard to work with Elvis due to him mesmerizing them. They said they'd get to watching him and forget what they were singing or harmonizing to.
Not only would Elvis not perform without his amazing back up singers, he wouldn’t stay at any hotel that wouldn’t allow his singers to stay and receive the same royal treatment he received. What a gift this man was. 💕💕

Elvis is the best entertainer that ever lived I been in the British Elvis fan club for 60 years now and my collection is bursting at the seams I’m always getting Elvis presents 🎁 and I just love it when he was on tour he was told to leave the Sweet Inspirations behind just because they are black Elvis said if my girls aren’t welcome I won’t becoming either. They got back to Elvis they could come Elvis told them they had to get the best hotel the best rooms and be treated just the way they would treat him his girls as he called them he thought the word of his girls he bought them cars jewellery and a houses he was a genuine and kind person and he took his bible everywhere he went he was very religious I still miss him so much Love 💕 from Denise in Yorkshire England 🏴👑👑👑🕺🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻🎸🎸🎸👏👏👋

Can you imagine. Elvis performed 7 days a week 2 shows a day. That led to 636 sold out performances in Las Vegas International Hotel now called the (Westgate). They wore him out. He was the Best. Don't care what song he sang. And he made you feel all the emotions tied to that song. Truly one of a kind Entertainer. He gave it his all. You don't see hardly any Entertainers today who do what he did. Never be another like him. Elvis fan forever. 💯🌟🎸🎶🎼😍💞
Elvis enabled the beat and passion oriented music we have had since the 50's. Not that the music had not already been percolating, but Elvis put his irresistible stamp on it and made it mainstream and acceptable to society at large, after a lot of initial resistance from the older generation. Sung "Live" 2 to 3 shows anight in Vegas. His Moves were what He felt and he also controlled the band with his movements! No Choreographed moves- and he sang, Blues, Gospel, Country, Rock m Roll, and Pop! React to him singing "you've lost that loving feeling " in his White Jump Suit....

That was when he was playing the international hotel casino in vegas - for ten years Elvis was a fixture in vegas. What an amazing showman and performer, you always left feeling thoroughly entertained, he gave it 110% almost every time, he even played sick at times, great reaction-!
Yes but unfortunately being in Las Vegas started his downward spiral into taking drugs, and it’s what killed him in the end. Elvis died way too young, such a waste.

This video shows how great his sense of humor was. A lot of people dont catch it but its so obvious. "Shove it up your nose..." his laughing and the way he tries to scare the backup singers lol he was a riot. Physically he was probably in the best shape he had been in in his whole life. His martial arts experience really shows in this video.

To me at age 68, Elvis gets me with goose bumps. One of the greatest performers there ever was, he was also a great lookin man- that bone structure! I love his deep rich voice.

They love him and he loved them too , he had a close relationship with all his band members. Estelle Brown was his favorite she does a interview about Elvis at the end she had tears in her eyes.Its called Elvis's favorite singer Estelle Brown, what a sweet lady.

It must have been so energetic and fun. She looked so funny like she was shy and he kept teasing her and then scared her. There’s a rehearsal film on U tube where he jokes and talks to her and the other girls. It’s fun to watch. I have a request for Bridge Over Troubled Water live in concert either 1969/ 70. It’s soulful & a beautiful voice. Everyone loved that one. Thank you so much. If I’m ever down, I watch your channel and am smiling by the end. He was a brilliant performer with a superb back up band and back-up singers. (Whitney Houston’s mother, Cissy was one of the back up.) Be sure to also listen to “In the Ghetto.”

A MUST “A Little Less Conversation” and “An American Trilogy” in Sept 2011 my one son was deployed to Kandahar Afghanistan (3/11-3/12) and a family member Who was throwing a family party at the time (threw one every year for quite a few years each year with a different theme) had an Elvis theme this particular year had a Elvis impersonator who was really really good well this Elvis impersonator performed “an American trilogy” and here they dedicated to my son not a dry eye in the place!! I have a video of it I cry every time I watch it especially when he says Matthews coming home soon so don’t worry about it let’s raise your hands to Matthew and come home soon Matthew we all love you, I’ll never forget that day!! RIP Elvis

That was so fun, thank you. I have seen this clip a number of times and as a musician myself I think about how he's constantly checking in with his band. That point where he's looking back at the drummer during all the drum fills. And then of course when he messes with Whitney Houston's mom and she's obviously just to having a laughter fit and then he startles her and then he cracks himself up. Oh my God what an athlete to do those deep lunges in hold them and still sing perfectly at the same time? That is so difficult and this is already an older Elvis but he was still in pretty good shape at that point but he was born into poverty and never forgot it from what I can tell.

People have to remember that, at this time, Elvis was already a legend, had sold millions of records, done 31 movies, and even though, other than a couple shows in Canada, Elvis NEVER performed outside of the USA, Elvis was popular worldwide. These shows in Vegas brought the fans to Elvis. People traveled from every corner of the world to see Elvis perform! Many times, one of his fan clubs would bring up to and over 100 people, to Vegas from overseas, just to see Elvis! Elvis was the entertainer that other legends and icons wanted to see!
I was actually lucky enough to see Elvis live in 1973. I can tell you he definitely left everything on the stage.

He had amazing presence and not until the very end when he was quite sick did he ever phone in a performance. He truly loved his fans and performing for them. He also loved the people who worked for him and was incredibly generous. A rare human being.
So much fun! Like I said before, Elvis liked to laugh a lot. There is a recording of him singing in Vegas and he is joking around with lyrics and just as he says the word bald he is looking right at a bald guy and then bursts out laughing. He could not stop laughing for the rest of the song. I wish I could think of the title but I just can’t remember right now.

I was only one year old at that time and grew up every day with Elvis in my home as my dad was a huge fan. Every movie and anything he did was in our household. However, i now realised with your comment on the background vocals, this is where i fell in love with soul music. To me the 70's was the best music of motown and soul ever. Those girls gave the soul to it. Much love from The Netherlands.

You should check out “Mean Woman Blues”. It’s from his movie Loving You. U should check out some of his other movie songs. Also, if you haven’t been to his home Graceland in Memphis, you should go. I’ve been several times and I’m in awe every time. Tour his home and his planes, go to his museum of all his cars and motorcycles, lots of gifts, and actually stay in a hotel right by Graceland. An Elvis themed hotel. You’ll love it.

In the late fifties he came to New Orleans and sang at Ponchatrain Beach. It was free to get in. What a memorable day. I was young at that time but will never forget this one of a kind entertainer and singer! He will always be The King of Rock
