    Debbie Harry and Blondie were a great band. This is a great copy of the Johnny Thunders classic, who I'm sure Debbie was friends with. A very nice tribute

    I WILL ALWAYS LOVE DEBBIE and JOHNNY ...CLASSY . I ran into her at some weird art thing years ago and still remember how nice she was . Taking photos at a concert one night she was making faces at me and being so cool dancing in front of me ...and some douche bouncer took my film...would have been great pics ...LOVE YA DEBBIE !

      Charles Montgomery There is some haters on here they believe when you get to a certain age that you should quit what you love doing. I have been a Debbie fan all my life, I love her for the courage that she has.

      Charles Montgomery I'm not so sure u know what u'r talking about. When Johnny T. first saw Wendy O performing., he was SO smitten, u hv no idea how! About (1978 to 1990) video that had also come WAY to late, for Johnny to Ever truly fall in love with Wendy O, but I guarantee u, had he still (and her too), been alive they would had been married by early 1991, and would had possibly BOTH survived all of that CRAP.

    So many viewers and song chasers can't believe she chose to cover Johnny Thunders' "Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory"?!?!?! Part of what made both Debbie Harry and Johnny Thunders so charming downtown were their 'family values.' Like me and our Flushing 'hoodies, we all got our 'family values' and formed our horizons of upward mobility and marriage from the same source. Those 39 perpetually rerun episodes of THE HONEYMOONERS!
    Nine minutes and nine seconds into this medley of HONEYMOONERS lines at Pere Ubu's expense and you'll see where Johnny Thunders copped his line and the context for his ballad on enduring love (and perhaps love handles...):
    ua-cam.com/video/-C3MwuhK09M/v-deo.html
    To quote Queens scriptures from our yoot raised on reruns: That's Episode #7 of The Honeymooners eternal 39 filmed TV weeks. Name of the episode, aptly, BETTER LIVING THROUGH TELEVISION...
    And from Jared Kushner's orange paged newspaper this nifty piece of rock joy-nalism that also cites Thunders pulling lines from THE HONEYMOONERS, then Parquet Court quoting the quotes:
    observer.com/2016/11/parquet-courts-write-melodies-abandoned-in-the-key-of-new-york/
    Anyone for a cover of Allen Toussaint's "My Mother In Law"?

    So many haters. People forget about where misic came from & the fact that it has evolved ever since. Bruno Mars,Miley Cyrus, Gaga, etc. are all manufactured, insincere examples of what they call music today. Somewhere around the mid-nineties, Rock & Roll got highjacked by meaningless garbage.

    Back in junior high, I had a poster of her. Everyone thought that I lusted over her, but I just loved her music. Now that I'm older and know all about lust to well, I can say that I hung that poster because I loved her music. I thought she was hot, but I never fantasized about her sexually, ever. Until, I saw this video.

    If you go the beach you see woman older in less what is the prob. She looks amazing for her age here. She's on a stage, it's summer and it's hot she wants to show off and be effortlessly cool in more ways than one. Some "strange" have a problem with that and can't handle or get their little's head around it. the fact is they can do what the fuck they want any time they want. Live live live till your very last breath.

    • @justinbgaga
      @justinbgaga 9 років тому

      +bingbong U r absolutely right +bingbong about "till the last breath". Except, some of them "punk rockers" didn't live up to their potential.
      Like (especially) Debbie Harry, or Courtney ("Cobain") Love!

    • @bingbong6768
      @bingbong6768 9 років тому +6

      Debbie Harry is the prototype of every woman in popular music from 1976 till now, She is more respected than any other woman in popular music on the scene to this day. She is 70 yrs old and still packing the crowds in around the world. Blondie was the biggest group in the world from 1978/1982 name another female fronted band that has been the biggest in the world. Now how did she never lived up to their potential being on top of the world. We are surrounded by over sexual sluts now. I think we can call them porn stars with a computer for a voice. To of the biggest stars at the moment Gaga and Madonna you can see where there influence come from it goes way back to 1976 both have said Debbie was a influence. Mind you Gaga looks like she is on her way out shelf life and all. Courtney Love and the rest are all wannabes of what came before. Debbie did it all before them and she did it in style beauty talent and could sing any form of music and was respected. No one can take that way from her to this day. She was never computerized like everyone in this music business today. Oh and she is in the rock n roll hall of fame. She also wrote the first Rap song to hit number one in the USA in 1980. Go look on UA-cam at The One Show with Debbie Harry. A interview she did recently, you will see how people respect her around the world and in the music business.

    • @justinbgaga
      @justinbgaga 9 років тому

      I TRULY respect your opinion. BUT, when Debbie Harry was at her best, she faced a stiff competition from girls like Patty Smith, and Wendy O. Williams.
      I STILL don't feel like any one of us should lay down on her laurels, cause the OTHER ladies were so much better, and closer to the truth!!! And then came many more, much better than Debbie, or Courtney "Love" Cobain.

    • @bingbong6768
      @bingbong6768 9 років тому +2

      When Debbie Harry was at her height she ruled the world. The females of her generation you mentioned though very good paled by her comparison they never come close to the height she reached. Wendy O Williams was really only famous in the USA. that is the truth. These two females where one trick ponies they could only sing with one voice to promote their music and still do to this day except for Wendy who passed away. As I stated Debbie could and still does sing any type genre of music and that is what people over look she sings pop, rock, disco, rap, jazz, ballads, country, new wave, power pop Latino and folk you name it she has done it. Tell me another female who has that much talent? Those who came after her at least 95% where influenced by her and at least 95% are computer enhanced that's fact.

    Johnny Thunders, not bad for a rocker with a heroin addiction who didn't sell out and play disco just so his band can be on a major label. Many years after his death and bands like Guns N Roses, Blondie, that Ronnie chick...with Joey Ramone doing back up vocals and whoever I didn't mention cause maybe they're not worth mentioning, cover his song. Personally, I hate covers, perfer a band that'll write something so good, other bands wish they had thought of it. And if you thought "hanging on the telephone" is a Blondie original, you're a oogle. Original artist, the Nerves.

      What do you mean he was a heroin addict who didn't try and sell out and be on a major label.
      No major label wanted him when the Heartbreakers were in their prime and peak best in 1977 because they were rampant heroin addicts.
      Why do you think they got dumped with Track Records who were in fact on the verge of Bankruptcy.
      They thought they were signed to Track but they were signed to the Chris Stamp record label.
      Thunders wanted fame and a lot of money and a private island but when being a junkie is your first priority it sort of gets in the way of your real job of being in a band.

    Ms. Harry was 65 when this was made, she is 70 today. Sadly she's seen here still selling an imitation of youth that in the end comes off with a faint whiff of desperation. Why not embrace the grace and wisdom that comes with age? Wouldn't a long black gown have been more soulful and real here than an image of a costumed grandma in a mini-skirt? The lower East Side is now a wasteland of trust fund kids and uptown types paying $3 grand a month rents, about as dangerous as instant coffee. CBGB is long gone. The Ramones tragically dead along with Johnny Anthony (Genzale) Thunders, whose anthem of loss rings true- you can't put your arms around a memory.

    Debby is one of the most overrated singer in the story . Just a few hits , somehow sexy , the voice, nothing special .
