Thank you so much for posting these videos! Ive been binge watching them because my kefir is always runny.. Too much milk to kefir ratio.. ive been taking your advice with more grains.. and with stirring during ferment. Love the raw milk! Its 9 dollars a gallon .. kinda hard to find in Western NY where i am but worth the search and the money! So good! Im like a crack head for the cream line ahahah Stay healthy and well ! And dont stop posting ! Love watching :)
I decant a gallon of milk into glass quart milk bottles to store 3 in cooler sections of the frig but never thought to chill them first. Thanks for the tip.
Your welcome.. it makes it last a wee but longer.. I need to do a new raw milk trip video.. I have been using a different farm for the last 3 years. I found the one I went to before, in this video, had poor practices.. it usually happens when they hire out workers.
@@thekefircode7399 Last winter, I was a 20 min ride away from a dairy farm in Germany that had a milk vending machine. Most people brought their own bottles, but you could also purchase an empty bottle from a machine for an extra Euro to put your raw milk in. Delicious milk. The bottles I now use to decant my milk are from that farm as well as a few from a grocery store. I'm in the US, and use pasteurized whole milk, but enjoy learning about how others make kefir. Looking forward to any new videos you make.
I'm wanting to make some raw milk videos. I've learned a lot over the years that many dont seem to know, even the farmers themselves apparently. Not all raw milk created equal.
I usually pay more to support my farm. Im going to a different farm than this video. I had issues with hers, crap contaminated and using milk vats which just contaminate. My new farm girl is making the best raw milk in the country i swear.. i get it straight from the cow to my jar in minutes. Its like milk from 100s of years ago. So pure. They had to raise the price to 7 dollars since all the inflation. Still too cheap, they're doing God's work.
@@brandondang7156 hey what state? California? The laws vary state by state... Here its semi "unregulated" & you have to buy it on the farm site & bring your own containers to fill. Not for retail sale in any stores.
Oh, wow.. i really havent looked into that state to see the laws. If you need to find anymore info, realmilk.com is a good source. i found my best farm there, 20 minutes away. What luck Being in any large city i know its more difficult. Its one reason i haven't moved in.
I actually dont go to that particular farm anymore.. I have another farm I prefer that's actually closer to me.. search on realmilk.com real milk finder. I have a link in description.. That farm is called precious pastures just past DeKalb.. I dont like the bulk tank setup that they use.. the milk didnt ferment well. Maybe they fixed it I dont know it's been about a year. Straight from the cow is best, bulk tanks leave more room for error. Always test your milk by leaving a sample out on the counter to see how it ferments. That will show your bacteria conditions. If it smells like sewer or some shit it's not good. Wont kill you but not good for natural milk ferments to reduce sugars. If its edible when it ferments your getting great milk.
1 oz is that right? Oh my.. is raw milk legal? What country? Farm co-ops may be a cheaper "illegal" option. I had told them I'd pay a hundred a gallon - if I could.. lol.. 2 nice young girls started this farm and run it with their family. I usually overpay her out of appreciation. They were the 3rd farm in the state to get a license for legal resale. :)
@@thekefircode7399 I live in Singapore and I have no choice but to buy pasteurised milk unless I'd travel overseas to Malaysia and negotiate with the local herder for raw milk and still a long way back home.. just hassling haha
