You assembled the shade inside out. The interlocking tabs should be visible from the inside. The way you did it results the tabs visible from the outside. That is why the instruction shows the direction of an arrow facing out.

Midway through the video when it said "roll it, roll it, squeeze it" I thought Ikea messed up and gave you the instructions on "How to Make Sushi" 🤷. For $7.99 it's not so bad. I would have been frustrated after first ten minutes and returned it for some swedish meatballs.
