  • This is part 3 in the test.
    We pair a Chinese George Lynch Kamikaze against the pawn shop Kirk Hammett ESP.
    We take the exact same amount of work into each guitar. Which one is a better investment? New from China, or 30 year old and abused? Also, can you make a fake signature guitar out of parts and make it play and sound as good as the real thing?
    The master, Brent Gutierrez, from Gutierrez Custom Guitars comes by to test both guitars and share his wisdom from 35 years of hot-rodding custom guitars. This may be a long watch, but there is great wisdom in here. He talks strings, frets, pickups, woods, and all around guitar hacks.

    Brent!!!! Getting some recognition, you deserve it, brother! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

      He does deserve it. I think Sam Ash needs to do a UA-cam video showing some of the amazing set-ups and repairs. I think it could only help their business. And with their fund$ and production behind it - what a cool video that could be.

    Great job I own both expensive and cheap and I will say that I have come to love both for what they are 🎉 little work on most and you have a player

    • @buzzzmiller
      @buzzzmiller  6 місяців тому

      Exactly. A little work can make a bad guitar play great, and a good guitar play like heaven.
      So many people are afraid to make their first adjustment. It is just nuts and bolts.

    Cool video. I was surprised about the pine body on the kami. Kinda figures the korean ltd is a better start, those are great guitars. Just saw a new jackson rr model for $2k thinking its mij and it was korean. These ltds used to be $799 new!
    Btw, great shirt!

      I made a video a month ago. The Korean LTD crushes this Chinese copy. The deeper I got into this, the more the LTD is better.
      The Chinese posts for the floyd were drilled crooked. I had to fix it and that took me days. That is one reason these guitars were so delayed in the making. The Chinese offering was quite sloppy. Also check out the wood crack in the neck joint. (The photo from this video.) That scared me. I wanted to quit that guitar when I saw that, but I had to keep going.

    I love bolt on ergonomic neck joints, n4 is one of my favorites and this gutierrez is awesome! Im getting hamer californian vibes and love that side input jack. Is the body alder or mahogany?
    Ever heard of black mesa guitars? They had some similar joints like that

    • @buzzzmiller
      @buzzzmiller  8 місяців тому +1

      It is a mahogany body, one piece maple neck, ebony board, stainless frets, carbon fiber reinforcements in the neck. It is such a cool guitar.
      Yes, I love playing the N4s. That is a great neck joint.
      I have not heard of Black Mesa. I will have to check those out. Thanks for the heads up.

      @@buzzzmiller black mesa guitars are no longer made but i thought you might know of them because guy was from AZ. Theres still some info up on the net about them and its worth checking out just for neck joint construction nerding out. Its similar to gutierrez , bolts down past the neck pickup that sits over the neck, reminds me of billy Sheehan yamaha, and tremolo guitars, claw attaches to the end of the neck so its got that connection to help it ring better id think. Looks awesome but also very labor intensive

      I know, right.
      But it isn't orange peel. It is the actual grain of the quilt in the wood.
