So? Your point is what? Gale and Peeta are different people. Gale and Katniss may have been able to survive the 74th Games together but in the end it would've been them against each other as neither one could pull off the 'star crossed lovers' schtick that Peeta pulled.
@@NotMyklHer and gale are more platonic. You can really see how she really cared for Peeta, even at the start. Their journey resided outside of the Games as-well. There was a spark, an ignite of chemistry that day the bread was thrown to her.
Nurul Soimah Well, katniss gets up everyday and tries to live her best life with peeta and her children. It is hard for her to do this because of the years of bad memories trying to overwhelm her and break her down, but everyday she plays this tedious game trying to forget all these bad things and live her best life. She says there are much worse games to play because there are: The Hunger Games.
I wish they include this scene from the book, because I find it beautiful "I knew this would happened anyway. That what I need to survive is not Gale's fire, kindled with rage and hatred. I have plenty of fire myself. What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that. " - Katniss Everdeen
me too, they could have included that monologue towards the end but for some reason the movies didn't include Katniss having any monologues whatsoever. They solely depended on Jennifer's expressions
"Peeta and I grow back together. There are still moments when he clutches the back of a chair and hangs on until the flashbacks are over. I wake screaming from nightmares of mutts and lost children. But his arms are there to comfort me. And eventually his lips. On the night I feel that thing again, the hunger that overtook me on the beach, I know this would have happened anyway. So after, when he whispers, 'You love me. Real or not real?' I tell him, 'Real.'" Page 436 of Mockingjay
I felt romantic chemistry between Katniss and Peeta than I ever did between Gale and Katniss. Gale and Katniss had more platonic chemistry. Peeta and Katniss chemistry was so raw and real.
Yeah they were more like childish lovey-dovey. Might have worked if the hunger games didn't happen and if Gale didn't participate in the plan which involved killing innocent people including Katniss's sister. In the end, Gale was no different than Snow.
Not platonic, brotherly. She always saw Gale as an older brother and, as she recognized in the books, she would kiss him but wouldn't feel like when Peeta kisses her... How did she describe it, on "Catching Fire"? "I feel that thing again. The thing I only felt once before. In the cave last year, when I was trying to get Haymitch to send us food. I kissed Peeta about a thousand times during those Games and after. But there was only one kiss that made me feel something stir deep inside. Only one that made me want more. The sensation inside me grows warmer and spreads out from my chest, down through my body, out along my arms and legs, to the tips of my being. Instead of satisfying me, the kisses have the opposite effect, of making my need greater. I thought I was something of an expert on hunger, but this is an entirely new kind."
Even better, treat each other good and mutually expect nothing in return. This rather than if one treats the other good, the other can treat them good, where one is expected to treat the other good while the other doesn't do the reverse until they feel they are getting treated good. If that's the case then sometimes no one will start it.
Effy had the best caracther development 😢😢. She started as a girl without sense of pain or injustice, and finished as a lovely girl that helped in rebellion.
What I love most about the Epilogue is that in the book catching fire. After the big kiss on the beach katniss goes to sleep and has a dream of peeta in this exact meadow of sorts. In the dream he is happy and free with his child. Which is the future katniss wanted for him all along hence why she was trying to keep him alive. However, what I love about suzanne collins is she used that dream to be a foreshadowing moment for katniss as well. She said peeta and his child can be free, but she was seeing that from her own perspective. Not peeta’s. So in a way that dream she was having was a vision to the future she truly wanted to have. Except she didn’t want to really admit it to herself because she thought she was going to die. Beautiful this series is. Just beautiful
If anyone was really paying attention in Catching Fire, book or movie, you never had a doubt about who Katniss was in love with and who she’d end up with. My friend on the other hand held out hope all the way through Mockingjay part 2 she’d choose Gale.
@@hollandfray4521 PERIOD! it was in my opinion SO obvious!! my sister to this day still thinks gale was the better match but then again I think she just likes Liam Hemsworth lol
@@nadinerodriguez590 same here! Any of my friends that read the books were team Peeta from the beginning, my friends that saw the movie only like Gale better because of Liam Hemsworth.
0:37 For those still doubting Katniss and Peeta's relationship. Peeta planted Primrose to calm her down but Gale never even came to see her or apologized to her, he ran away from his responsibilities.
Katniss DOESN'T want anything to do with Gale anymore. If he came to see her she would treat him coldly and sent him away anyways. She could never look at Gale in that way again--she thinks his design is responsible for Prim's death.
Yes. Also despite Peeta having gone through horrific things he didn't let that change his essence and humanity. Gale on the other hand let the world consume him and turn his pain into hate and not only wanting to hurt people but actually doing it. Katniss never changed either, that's why to me Peeta and Katniss work.
I haven’t read the books - going from what seemed implied in the movies gale was a rebel in the resistance longer than peeta and Katniss were though.. he likely needed to build that new state that was his responsibility he saw more important than being with katniss (who had slipped away from him anyway and had more in common with peeta anyway from the trauma of the games ).. also he might have known and admired coin for longer and not agreed with her execution.. she must have been elected leader of the rebels at some point. Katniss seemed uneasy with her from the start knowing her only as a propaganda machine firing up the ones risking and losing their lives. Gale might have been closer to her from before
@@dinavienna " also he might have known and admired coin for longer " How? It's not like he was able to communicate with the other Districts before the rebellion and certainly didn't know about District 13 still existing until after the Capitol destroyed District 12 and the others. Coin was the leader of D13 not the rebels. The rebel joined D13 as they had the weapons that could be used against the Capitol and was basically the central point for the rebels. D13 didn't become any of this until the rebellion started.
Peeta is a perfect literary example of how a peace-loving man is not a coward, as many may see them to be, but it requires a different, more quiet kind of strength to support those they know who have lost, even after all they have been through themselves. The gesture of planting the Primrose outside the house always brings me to tears.
This. Absolutely. One of my favorite moments is when Peeta holds the female morphling while she’s dying and gives her the calmest death he can. He’s so genuinely compassionate and an exceptional person in every way. Haymitch, Katniss, and Finnick all knew he was too good for this world, lol.
"Compassion and tolerance is not weakness but a sign of strength." "Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity can not survive." "Compassion is the radicalism of our time." Quotes by Dalai Llama. I even have to wonder if author Suzanne Collins assimilated many of their mantras and philosophies into Peeta as a character because they fit so naturally into who he is and how it helps Katniss herself transition as her story progresses.
Peeta was loyal. Just an unbelievably loyal man. Kind, selfless, creative, a badass if and when it was needed but generally soft and gentle. I’m really glad I read these books as a teenager because it truly made me appreciate quiet, sensitive boys and made me realise that there are many ways to be a man. And Peeta was a real man.
Peeta is one of my favorite heroes of any story (book or movie). Strong, brave, smart, kind, understanding, patient, selfless -- that's a partial list. He isn't presented as "classically" romantic as Finnick or Gale, but Peeta and Finnick actually are a lot alike at heart and two of my favorite heroes.
Peeta is honestly the most beautiful human being, he sees light in everything. You can tell she adores that aspect of him and she needs that part of him
The scene where they watch the rain is so poetic. Two kids put through enough hell to ruin somebody left with nothing but each other and a bit of hope for the future. Beautiful actually. “You love me. Real or not real?” “Real.” ❤️
@Amanda Bynes oh I haven't thought of that, but it is true, and this time they are sheltered by a safe home. They had to fight for it and go through a painful and extremely hard path in order to achieve it
these scenes show how even though the ending wasn't a "perfect Happy ending" they still found peace in eachother,Suzanne Collins just did such a good job with this. She didn't try to give us a happy ending because it wasn't possible given the situations, but she gave us a peaceful ending.
Thats what I love about Suzanne Collins and J.R.R. Tolkien(the creator of the whole Middle-earth) Their endings were not completely happy, but peaceful and hopeful. And it shows in the adaptations. Unlike a...certain something which will remain nameless.
Yeah I wouldve been pissed if katniss had gotten over all the trauma shit, same with peeta. They were fucked by the capitol, prim died, peeta’s whole family died. A happy ending would have spoiled the series since it wouldn’t feel real.
I loved Peeta, and they were so so cruel torturing him, he was kind, funny he didn't deserved that, using his memories against him, The hunger games affected everyone 😭
What I love about this scene is Peeta’s glance and freeze on Katniss until their child jumps on him. He can sense her, and makes sure she’s still there and still ok. Their son’s jump is the only thing that unfreezes him from her, because just like in the beginning, their love is what keeps him going. First her, now also their children. This is how you nail an ending scene. edit: fight in comments on if a daughter or son is cannon
I like the scene of Peeta and his child playing together. 4:26 is so heartwarming. Looks so natural, like how a kid and a loving dad should be. They must be close in real life
To the person who said "Katniss never loved Peeta." I think you should take a closer examination of this quote from another novel called Captain Corelli's Mandolin and replay the journey Katniss and Peeta make to get to this conclusion. "Love is like a volcano. It erupts and then subsides. When it subsides to have to make a decision. You have to decide if your roots are entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. For that is what love is. It is not breathless. It is not excitement. It is not the promulgation of eternal passion. That is just 'being in love' which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what's left over after 'being in love' has burned away."
That ending got me man.. such a powerful thing, to morph a bad experience into something comforting. It is so satisfying to see everything turn out alright in the end, though we know the cost of this paradise
I think one of my most favorite things about this ending is how in the first Hunger Games book/movie, she talked about how she never wants to have kids, how she doesn’t want to bring children into the world she lived. and then look, how beautiful it ended, how she got that happy ending she wouldn’t even imagine to be possible in the beginning
@@zoefang4563 Paylor is a fine choice for the first new President, though it's no longer a lifelong office. Who knows how things will be in Panem a century forward in time, but I think that in the lifetime of Peeta, Katniss, and their children's lifetimes, life will be good.
@@Itsnoahscott Yes, that's why Katniss earlier said she wouldn't have children. Thank goodness Pres. Alma Coin is also dead, because she was the female version of Snow and planned to rule the same way he did.
The trilogy starts with her comforting a child(her sister) after the nightmare she had, and it ends the same way. A perfect circle where she went through hell but managed to turn nightmares into what they should be... dreams and nothing more.
The end credits song gets me every time because it’s perfect for the scene and to wrap up the trilogy. It’s prim’s song, it’s rue’s song, and it represents this sense of peace and happiness that they’ve all been looking for throughout the series. In the last scene they’re finally safe in a warm meadow just like the theme of the song says. Also the musical arrangement of it in the credits really captures the emotion of the song, the moment of the scene, and the gravity of the whole series finishing. I cried the first time I saw it in theaters lol
And that voice. OMG. I find it very striking because it's not like the harmonious voice of a professional singer, it's more like a normal person singing, a little hoarse, with barely any musical accompaniment, but damn it so unique, so deeply touching
I’ve just now realised that when Peeta said “I’m so sorry, Katniss.”, he was apologising to her for all the pain and trauma of the last few years up to that point. They could finally rest and he knew that that was probably the last time he’d have to apologise because nothing bad would ever happen to them again. Also, the ending song of the soundtrack is one of the best in cinematic history.
I think that's we're supposed to feel. Given everything that's happened, you feel that sense of Katniss feels from losing her sister. They were in a war after all and we all know how war leaves heavy wounds on individuals. I mean back in "Lord of the Rings" with Frodo. We were glad his adventure was over, but we still felt his pain. And like you said, it's wholesome as well cause we're glad it's finally over. It's not a happy ending, but it's a moment of peace and we're glad that it's all over.
And I think the new violin duet which hasn’t been used before (correct me if I’m wrong) that comes when she is walking down the hall and gets into bed with Peeta, marks a new beginning, their next chapter together ❤️
peeta mellark is a walking green flag. he's the literal embodiment of what you could ever possibly want in a partner. at his core, he is a compassionate, empathic, genuine, intelligent, kind, selfless, warm and wholesome individual. he deserves the whole world, and i'm not even exaggerating!! seeing both him and katniss just finally finding peace and comfort in each other post-war with their children?? that scene in the meadow of him and his child, basking in the soft warm glow of sunlight?????? beautiful. just beautiful.
Don’t forget respectful when describing Peeta. Unlike a great deal of romance stories out there. This is a leading man who understands the boundaries Katniss set for herself. So many other pieces of fiction feature a man who expects the leading lady to become his romantic partner. Katniss doesn’t desire romance because of how little she trusts of her world. (More then understandable given it’s frequent brutality and cruelty) Peeta’s only true desire was to see her safe and happy. He never wanted her to be his possession. He intently listens to her no matter her emotional state. Or if she wishes to close herself off entirely from any kind of emotion. He is simply there for her so she can have peace of mind. Katniss had dedicated her life to protecting and caring for Prim. She had to resolve to demonstrating to the rest of the world she was emotionally hollow as to fool everybody else how fragile she truly was. Deep down she was just as scared as Prim (arguably more so) people would take advantage of her if she displayed vulnerability. Peeta recognized this and was patient with her being emotionally reserved as well as admiring her independence. She had been self reliant from such a young age and capable of defending herself. Peeta is not intimidated or threatened by any if this. If anything he was practically singing her praises for it. So many writers have made their leading men offended if not downright hateful of these qualities in the leading ladies. Here Suzanne Collins unbashfully writes her leading man to actually treat the leading lady with respect in every sense of the word.
They still remain my favorite romantic partnership in all of fiction. And I have read and watched a vast array of stories since I read The Hunger Games back in 2011. I rarely look at a couple from fiction and equate them to a goal worth being attainable. Katniss and Peeta truly are.
The hunger games movies are one of the best movie adaptations from a book series ever made in my opinion. Of course they didn't include everything from the books but they embodied the story so well and the actors were perfect.
There are a number of mistakes in the first movie that always annoy me because they could have so easily been fixed by changing a few lines of dialogue, but I still love all the Hunger Games movies. I love the books, too, that go into even more depth and have some plot differences.
Yup, they leave out very little. Especially with the two parter that is mockingjay almost everything gets included. Some characters get left out and some things are changed around, but it's a great overall adaption. The first movie is probably the most different, and even then it's 10 times better then other movie adaptions.... Looking at you Eragon
I felt so bad for Katniss. The whole series started with her volunteering to go to the games to save her sister, just for her to be killed in the end. It really hurts when u actually think about i.
Yes, its sad but Prim wasnt afraid anymore, she learned from Katniss and she died helping others, sacrificing herself like Katniss had done it previously.
What's even so sad is Gale not honoring her promise to Katniss and not even apologizing to her that it's his bombs that killed those Capitol children and Prim.
@@jaycepadillaI know, Gale knowing, and never saying anything to Katniss about it, he knew she wouldn’t go along with it, I don’t think of course he meant for Prim to die, but had she known ahead of time, she could have warned Prim to stay away. Because think about it, Peeta, before he was fully brainwashed, he put his life on the line to warn Katniss just for a split second about the attack, they could have killed him afterwards, he took a huge leap, where as Gale, just went along with what Coin wanted.
While I loved the ending it didn't really show the rebuilding of 12. I wanted to see that. The ending just made them seem like they were living in the middle of no where.
There really wasn’t a rebuilding of 12. Some people didn’t come back and when you only have around 300 survivors that means very few people did. In a way they punished Katniss by sending her to live out in the wilds, but that is what she wanted. She didn’t want crowds or people. Just her and those she loves. Her mother doesn’t even go back to 12.
@@emilylewis5373 in the books they do rebuild 12. They shut down the mines and build medicine factories and farm. They clear the rubel and dig mass graves for the dead. In the epilogue they even have a school. Just because they don't have 10s of thousands of people doesn't mean there isn't a community.
@@kaylaknepper45 Emily's point though is that in the movie, Katniss's ending felt a little more peaceful for her as a character than in the book. Yes it would have been interesting to have seen them rebuild 12 in the movie as well, but in all honestly I quite agree with Emily that this ending also had a good say. They leave the rebuilding open in the sense it could be happening anywhere else, but Katniss wouldn't know. She just wants what she has and that is so enough.
Peeta is really reliable and genuine, that is what I like about him. Imagine he was tortured and hurt physically and mentally but he still followed his heart. Isn't that so romantic? I wish I have a Peeta in my life too.
Gale is A boyfriend, you can do all the fun together. But peeta is A husband, you always feel save and sound around him. When you find somebody who can make you feel calm and your heart at ease, Just marry him... Every time i see peeta, i see my husband also... That Just how he made me feel... Thats why i love his character, i see the father of my four children in him
“Did you have a nightmare? I have nightmares too. Someday I will explain it to you, why they came, why they won’t ever go away....But I’ll tell you how I survive, I make a list in my head about all the good things I’ve seen someone do every little thing I can remember. Its like a game I do it over and over it gets a little tedious after all these years 🥀but there are much worst games to play.” -Katniss Everdeen💖
I mean the whole story is just amazing, and this is the perfect ending. It makes sense story wise for both characters. I wonder what Haymitch and Effie did with their lives.
@@The_Bahamian_Intellectual Maybe they got together? Fling? Perhaps started a life with each other. They flirted a lot in the movies. Effie with "I like you better when you're sober" when Haymitch told her he liked her better without all the Capitol make-up.
There are people who were upset because Katniss didn’t go through with her wish to not have children. What they don’t understand is that she didn’t want to have them because of the reaping. Who would want to go through that every year and worry that your children will be chosen and end up dying. Secondly, even while she didn’t want to have them herself she wanted PEETA to have them. She wanted his goodness to continue on. Anyway The Hunger Games were now over and she agreed to have children because Peeta wanted them. And as is obvious she loved her children very much.
Exactly. It kind of pisses me off that women are now being shamed for having kids. And even if they say they don't want to when they were young there's this thing called changing your mind. Seems like women can't get a break from either side. On the right you are shamed for not wanting kids, the left shames us for wanting kids and even wanting to be a traditional housewife.
I find those people funny because they clearly didn't read the book. Yes she doesn't want children but Peeta wanted children so she obliged even though it terrifies her but Peeta reassures her. The movie didn't mention the whole epilogue into the book but if I remember correctly, it does and that part stuck with me cause that's how badly she loves Peeta😊
To anyone that said Katniss never really loved Peeta.... Other than her sister, he's the only person she ever risked her life for. Not Gale, or her mother or anyone else really. There were two people that she truly loved in her life. And for anyone who says that Gale would have been a much better partner.... Sometimes... In fact most of the time the most obvious partner is actually the worst. In life we need someone who compliments our strengths but also our weaknesses and that was never Gale for her. I love the way the series ended. Because for me it actually ended with a ring of truth. Love will find you where you least expect it. And despite whatever expectations you might have ever had in your life... Love can bring out something different. Not because you feel forced into it but because what love brings to your life gives you a sense of hope that you never imagined. The movie didn't quite bring it across how much Katniss was scared and hesitant to have children. But because she loved the man she had committed to and because she trusted the love between them she made a conscientious decision to trust that love and to have a child and then another. No I am not saying this is universal truth I am saying simply that love has a way of changing the way that we look at the world. The initial feelings of love are not always a choice but the continuation of it is very much so. And so much as I can figure, this love story is probably the most realistic amongst the mid-2000s young adult genre that existed. It wasn't immediate on both sides and it wasn't always obvious to either of them but it was there. Because when push came to shove, they were always there for each other. That is love.
@@rubyangel2900 Hello. Sorry for the delay. I actually do not gravitate to most reactions as I feel very protective (arguably possessive) of this franchise. I especially have grown attached to the Everlark ship. And truth be told I rarely do such a thing when it comes to fictional romance. However these two reactors (who did not read the book series prior) have become a breath of fresh air. While Aria C and Newfie Movie Reactions have vastly different personalities. How they analyze this series is quite similar. Perceptive and sympathetic. I highly recommend these two if one did want to check out a first time reaction video to the franchise (and ship) we know and love. :) By the way, to make the search faster so you don't have to constantly scroll past the most popular videos. Put their channel names with the movie title when you type it into the UA-cam search bar. ;)
I love that this choose to end this series with "Rue's Farewell" as the soundtrack as it transitioned into the ending credits. In the theatres when I saw the movie the first time, I was going to be disappointed if Rue's Farewell wasn't included in the epilogue. I'm quite impressed with how the movie played out the epilogue. :)
The awe on her face when she's looking at her toddler and Peeta playing together always gets me. Like she couldn't believe the beautiful things life has given her after all the pain. We always have to look at the good life gave us no matter how small it is. At least that's how I survive my nightmares.
Peeta is such a beautiful character. He's strong and centered like the hero should be, yet sensitive in all the right ways. That he would think to plant primrose where Katniss could see it - a spark of beauty to remind her of everything that was good about her sister - is a beautiful glimpse at the tenderness wrapping his inner core and making him the strong keep that Katniss needs to find her own inner peace.
Peeta is such a rarity in this day and age when it comes to fiction. He truly is a knight in shinning armor. Yet it's not because he saves the day in that traditional sense of rescuing a damsel in distress from a physical perilous situation. (If anything we saw more the opposite scanario play out in this series) What I love about him is that he is emotionally available and not ashamed of it. He unbashfully listens and is caring. And how it is the unfurling and evolution of Katniss growing to trust and appreciate the love he has so selflessy given. Despite how modern fiction is trying to steer away from toxic masculinity. There still is an enormous stigma going on about branding a leading man who shows empathy towards an independent & emotionally reserved woman as weak. There's still this old fashioned concept that a man must conquer the woman as to be deemed worthy. However with this story, the author and the screenwriters flat out reject this. You don't conquer anyone by making them your indentured servant and declare that love. Love occurs only with respect. Too many pieces of romance leave this out and it's why I have long refused to call them love stories. I never see nor feel the love because such a cruciual element is missing. Most just come across as a one night stand kind of scanario that has been stretched out over a long period. And I find it hollow. I don't have any emotional investment. I think at best most only get to the point of being "in love with the idea of the person" not the actual person. I can say with conviction The Hunger Games series is a love story! I was caught up with every single moment as this story progresses from teammates to friends and finally to life long loving partners. And Peeta is every bit a worthy leading man to leading lady Katniss. :)
@@Silver54ful I love coming across your comments, you truly get the characters of Katniss and Peeta and understand their love story perfectly. I get so tired of the shallow “She should have gotten with Gale!” comments so it’s just so nice to see someone with actual critical thinking skills ;)
I love the epilogue as it shows Katniss and Peeta finally getting the life they deserve; peace, safety, a chance at happiness and to live their own lives without being controlled. It is truly beautiful. ❤️
Yes i believe that is what every person wants deep inside their hearts and soul ....its worth fighting for although the battle is not yours but the LORD and battle has already won Trough Jesus Christ The Living Son of God Lord and Savior ...
i love how quiet and simple these final scenes are - even down to their clothes. it's such a huge contrast to the cinematic quality of the rest of the movies, and it illustrates so well the idea that they finally have the time and space to live the simple, normal lives they've always wanted. they don't even get together immediately - they can take their time to build the relationship they should've been able to have. i love these movies sm😂❤️
My favorite tragedy of love is that so many Peetas are overlooked by Gales. Whether the Gales be celebrities and current toxic relationships people are afraid to get out of because of uncertainty, but Peetas are loyal to you and remain wishing your love could be real, but accepts otherwise. Because loving someone is when your wants come after the needs of who you love.
I could not agree more. To me it is unfathomable to not choose a person like Peeta as a life long partner. Respectful, compassionate, encouraging. trustworthy, and they value their partner's independence. To not appreciate all of these qualities (Peeta) in favor of physical appearence and status (Gale) to me leads to only one conclusion if the latter was chosen. Those who picked the latter still confuse infatuation for love. Needless to say they could not be on further ends of the spectrum.
Honestly if she never had to do the hunger games with Peeta he would have never been chosen. With how determined she was to deny her affection for him she would have just avoided him and gone with Gale and it would have seemed oh so practical to her.
So odd how all throughout both the books and movies Katniss always said she didnt love Peeta. And once even briefly tried to have feelings for Gale due to the fact he was willing to fight for her. But in the end she finally realized it was Peeta always fighting for her not Gale
She refused to allow herself to love Peeta because their couple was a manipulation of the Capitol. She didn't want to be a tool to the Capitol (that's book 1). She starts to have feelings for Peeta in the second book, when they bond during the Victory tour, that's why she chooses to have him survive in the Arena and demands that Haymitch saves him. But she refuses to allow herself to love him openly because she thinks she will die: but her hopes and dreams for Peeta are the ones of someone who is in love. Literally, he lives in her mind rent free from Catching Fire, going forward. In Mockingjay, you have Gale trying to stick the landing, but even he knows he doesn't stand a chance anymore and he says so during their hunting trip outside of D13.
@Nora Girl Also don't forget that the forcefield scene in Catching Fire is when her true feelings for Peeta came out, and her showing her feelings for Peeta is why the Capital tortured him the what they did
@Nora Girl Also don't forget that the forcefield scene in Catching Fire is when her true feelings for Peeta came out, and her showing her feelings for Peeta is why the Capital tortured him the way they did
I don't think I seen anyone mention it, but when Peeta asks "you love me, real or not real?" It actually has a double meaning. Yes he is asking if his memories of her loving him is real or not, but it's also a call back to the first few movies where their relationship was fake & they pretended to be in love to survive the games. When Katniss said "real" it wasn't just her answering that yes Peeta's memories of her loving him is real, but she was also saying that yes her love is real & it isn't a fake relationship that they're in at all, their relationship is REAL no pretending. Such a beautiful double meaning to end the series on man. I truly bawled my eyes out at this scene... It's so beautiful
I love that the scene with them watching the rain parallels the scene from the first movie, when Peeta tells Katniss that he doesn’t want the games to change him. It all comes full circle
At the end of the book Katniss compares Peeta with a dandelion in the spring. A bright yellow that brings rebirth not destruction. I assume that’s how they chose the color of her dress. and blue i guess is just associated with gloom and sadness.
This is a happy ending for Katiness & Peeta but kinda sad at the same time cause they are so damaged and suffer from PTSD, glad they are able to pull each other out of it
Sounds kinda familiar ;-) Allthough I have not reread Hunger Games. When I rewatch the movies I get that feeling I need to reread the books... Have not done it yet but I do think this is a series I will reread someday and maybe introduce the books to my goddaughter (11) who loves reading just as much as me...
anonymous yeah the books are so good! Katniss’ smart witty personality is shown more as the book is from her perspective. Also there’s far more detail and really makes the whole story seem more real then just watching the movies (not to discredit people who just watch movies. I usually only read the books if I’m really into the movies and wanna learn more about the story!) I would highly recommend reading them!
This scene has extra meaning now after A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Especially if you believe that Lucy Gray is Katniss' ancestor. Just like Lucy Gray, Katniss struggled through brutal hardships where she was forced to take life, and had a lover consumed by the Capitol that betrayed her and tried to kill her. But unlike Lucy Gray and Snow, Katniss and Peeta were able to break free of the Capitol's influence. And in the end, Katniss got the life Lucy Gray wished for: a happy, peaceful life with the person she loved.
I think Katniss and Lucy Gray have similarities obviously, but so do Sejanus and Peeta, in the sense that they're both kindhearted and always wishing to do the right thing / what's best for everyone
I have never shipped a duo SO hard. Their relationship is a prime, RARE example of unconditional love. They’d search the ends of the earth for other, they’d easily die for each other. It’s genuinely beautiful
After Prim's death, and after the war, Katniss doesn't have many people she loves in her presence. Gale goes to district 2 and her mother to 4. Peeta stays in 12. He's the only one she has, and he will always stay with her :)
I’m in the middle of a re-read and I’m in Peeta’s lowest moment... I came to see this for a little comfort, to know it will be ok in the end. When I read the books for the first time, I finished it in ad day, because I couldn’t put the book down until Peet’s was ok, and he was ok only at the very end.
I was so invested in Peeta right from the beginning, when we discover he saved Katniss’ life when they were 11 and then he came on the train to the Capitol and Katniss could tell he had been crying. I was immediately “LORD PROTECT THIS SWEET PRECIOUS BOY!!!” 😭💔
I see why Katniss fell for Peeta over Gale, he left her alone until she was ready, and the time that he did talk to her after the first games, was for friendship and nothing more, he let her come to him and gave her time to make up her mind, he never showed any jealousy like Gale did, I was happy when they had her end up with Peeta.
It was never about Katniss choosing Peeta over Gale. This was about Katniss choosing peace over chaos. Gale is the embodiment of chaos. Peeta is the embodiment of peace.
Yknow how Stephenie Myers and whoever-wrote-fifty-shades-of-grey rewrote their books with the dude's perspective? Jee I wish Suzanne Collins was that kind of lazy and would write the Hunger Games trilogy from Peeta's perspective...
@@MARYWTHER Apart from the money they would profit. I was under the impression those authors did that because they were trying to alleviate the negative press the lead male characters garnered for promoting toxic masculinity. Please feel free to correct me if I am mistaken on this matter.
Him tossing her the bread in the rain was the very first scene they ever shot for the first movie, and this scene in the meadow with their babies for the final movie was the very last…full circle. 🥺👍🏻❤️
This series is honestly marvellous- the way that they capture the emotions of all of the characters so clearly is incredible. I wish that I had the chance to be apart of this movie arghhhhh. Also the ending to this is literally the best ending to a series everrr
1:03 Such a simple image, but so meaningful to me. One day, i wish to have someone sit with me on a cold rainy day. Enjoying the little things together.
I just love her acting in this scene. Her eyes spoke so much. I can't explain it articulately but you can feel that she still carries the burden of her past but she's happy and at peace nevertheless.
I love this because even though he was with Gale it proves that loyalty isn't being with the person you were already with but someone who loves you for you and heals and completes you only.
Katniss represents the fire in humanity....the passion the rebel the fighter....it helps you survive and combat all sorts of brutality. But Peeta represents the most beautiful part of humanity...the compassion...the kindness...the humanity...it helps you live....what makes life worth living....no wonder Katniss needed Peeta to build life anew. P.S. These are just beautiful scenes.....such favorites of mine...
The door scene with them both look out is a symbolism to the first games when they were looking in the Capitol. They were looking at a world full of danger and greed. And now they are looking at a world full of rebirth and peace. And she finally realizes it’s safe to love peeta now.
They are now living/playing in a field with flowers like daisies then the valley song says something along the lines of here the daisies protect you from every harm.
Here's the thing with Susan Collins with other writers this ending may have found tacked on or like it was tacked on just to fulfill societal expectations of Happily Ever After but it absolutely isn't here. This feels like an absolutely excellent ending for Katniss as a character because while she does say she doesn't want kids it's because she doesn't want to bring them into the world she lives in. Katniss having kids shows that she's finally feeling stable and secure and that's why it works so well
seeing the rain, the same rain in which a boy offered a loaf of bread that shaped a whole story and touched our hearts. The same guy who saved a girl and helped her get everything they deserved. Just beautiful, to think that that act of kindness already contained love.
I feel like I found it hard to ship Gale and Katniss because their love came from a different sort of understanding, a love for each other to survive, the love to help each others families, a love to hunt. Whereas Katniss and Peeta loved each other because they could understand each other in the games and Gales friendship with her was never the same after❤️🏹
I read and watched all the books and movies when I was younger and I never fully understood the meaning of the story. I reread them this week and the story has a way stronger impact than ever before. I love it
this scene is so heartbreakingly beautiful, especially the part where they're sitting on the porch where they're looking out while it rains. the music, the lighting...it's just beautiful. it always makes me want to cry. everything about this whole epilogue. in the silent moment where katniss and peeta just exchange a glance and katniss smiles a bit, it feels like they finally won. even though they lost so, so much along the way, in the end they still had each other. i can see when katniss smiles a bit that its almost like a reassurance that "it's over now, we can rest".
i start sobbing every time when the hug she attacks him with in the beginning is her reaction to realizing that the peeta she knew has returned. planting the primroses is an act of the old peeta and she is so happy and realived that hes back because she thought shed never have the old peeta back so she just throws herself into his arms and he gladly holds her tight because he thought she’d never allow him to be near her again
What a nice way to end the saga. And the hunger games movies will remain one of my favorite movie adaptations, for how true and close they stay to the books.
What i loved about this ending is for once, in the ENTIRE SERIES, despite everything she has lost and everything she has been through. Katniss was finally and truly at peace.
How she looks and smiles at him watching the rain is touching. She smiles and you can see her relax. It's where they're meant to be. Alone quiet safe and together.
Peeta was sensing Katniss, it was almost like he felt her getting emotional a bit when she was talking to their baby, he looked at her and stared at her until the other kid jumped on him. He could feel her❤
I remember in the book, it took katniss a long time to heal from her burns and agree to have children. as someone who doesnt eant kids either, i am impressed she decided to have theme. Such a big esponsbility.
I just finished reading The Hunger Games trilogy books last week. I liked it very much. Although I think Finnick shouldn't have died because he was fighting the war for so long and then he was just killed by a MUTT!!! And I think maybe I would like to see(read) what happened to Johanna. I mean she did get tortured.
AGREE! I recently re-read them and I don't think it's fair Finnick got royally screwed. He gave up everything. Also I love Johanna and we should have gotten more of her in Mockingjay.
oh god poor johanna got the worse ending out of everyone. She had everyone she ever cared about get killed, became a prostitute, met finnick who was also a prostitute after the games, he was the closest thing she had to a connection. She gets put into the rebel war, busts her ass to keep the geniuses alive then gets tortured to near insanity. Gets her head shaved to make it easier to waterboard her. Develops an immense fear of water then hardly ever bathes due to it, gets a unhealthy obsession to morphling. Develops another bond with katniss, then shes deemed to unstable to go on the mission and pretty much gives up being a warrior. Finnick dies and is left with a hole in her heart. She thought she could trust katniss but she doesnt know truly what happened so she thought katniss betrayed her. Then when all said and done she was truly alone again and had no one and preceded to move back to whats left of district 7 in isolation, broken from war.
I think my favourite bit about this whole scene is the music. Throughout the films, the music has mainly been sad or dramatic / epic music, but I absolutely love the music changes to happy, relaxed and content when Katniss and Peeta finally find peace. It just shows how much they went through but finally made it to this point and got their happy ending ❤️
Here is the place where I love you....🥺oh god, I remember it. After all of these years I still remember the words. It came back to my mind the moment I saw Peeta with their son🥺♥️.
Admit it, Gale would never have thought of going into the forest and search for Primroses to plant in the garden in memory of Katniss’ little sister!
Thank you for saying this! It would appear Gale/Katniss shippers have overlooked such a crucial detail.
He cant bring flowers
Yes because Peeta sees katniss as a person unlike Gale who sees her more as a symbol for the rebellion.
I think Peeta was intended to be the embodiment of everything good about humanity, selflessness, truth, empathy ect.
I agree. Everything innocent aswell 😭
Such a cinnamon roll 😭😭
Right!! He’s really the perfect guy.
Definitely Peeta is what a great person should be like
And yet they were able to destroy him...
“But there are much worse games to play...” is the best ending sentence for this series.
Ariana Witecki Over the years I’ve always said this is the best last line of any series ever
THE BEST
🥺it really is
I think so. But can you explain to me what does that means?
Nurul Soimah Well, katniss gets up everyday and tries to live her best life with peeta and her children. It is hard for her to do this because of the years of bad memories trying to overwhelm her and break her down, but everyday she plays this tedious game trying to forget all these bad things and live her best life. She says there are much worse games to play because there are: The Hunger Games.
I wish they include this scene from the book, because I find it beautiful
"I knew this would happened anyway. "
- Katniss Everdeen
me too, they could have included that monologue towards the end but for some reason the movies didn't include Katniss having any monologues whatsoever. They solely depended on Jennifer's expressions
Molly Leone definitely give them a chance! Books are like magic for your imagination ❤️
How long did it take to right that?!
This is my favorite line in the whole series!
@@danielleirisgarcia1441 mine too..
So after, when he whispers, 'You love me. Real or not real?'
I tell him, 'Real.'"

@@MarianaPhoenix he didn't participate in the plan he just made the bomb
Ooooooookay...🤣
Not platonic, brotherly. She always saw Gale as an older brother and, as she recognized in the books, she would kiss him but wouldn't feel like when Peeta kisses her... How did she describe it, on "Catching Fire"?
"I feel that thing again. The thing I only felt once before. In the cave last year, when I was trying to get Haymitch to send us food. I kissed Peeta about a thousand times during those Games and after. But there was only one kiss that made me feel something stir deep inside. Only one that made me want more. The sensation inside me grows warmer and spreads
out from my chest, down through my body, out along my arms and legs, to the tips of my being. Instead of satisfying me, the kisses have the opposite effect, of making my need greater. I thought I was something of an expert on hunger, but this is an entirely new kind."
@@MarianaPhoenix I loved her and Pete gale was like big brother
Peeta is the best representation of a boy who every girl deserves
But we girls have to be the Katniss. If they treat us good then we treat them good
Even better, treat each other good and mutually expect nothing in return. This rather than if one treats the other good, the other can treat them good, where one is expected to treat the other good while the other doesn't do the reverse until they feel they are getting treated good. If that's the case then sometimes no one will start it.
More like doesn't deserve. As Haymitch said.

@@zoefang4563 He never apologized though. Not even in the book
"Compassion and tolerance is not weakness but a sign of strength."
"Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity can not survive."
"Compassion is the radicalism of our time."
Quotes by Dalai Llama.

"Love is like a volcano. It erupts and then subsides. When it subsides to have to make a decision. You have to decide if your roots are entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. For that is what love is. It is not breathless. It is not excitement. I’m pretty sure that’s their love theme
And I think the new violin duet which hasn’t been used before (correct me if I’m wrong) that comes when she is walking down the hall and gets into bed with Peeta, marks a new beginning, their next chapter together ❤️

She's always loved Peeta, through The Hunger Games, Catching Fire to Mockingjay. She just doesn't understand herself :))
peeta mellark is a walking green flag. he's the literal embodiment of what you could ever possibly want in a partner. at his core, he is a compassionate, empathic, genuine, intelligent, kind, selfless, warm and wholesome individual. he deserves the whole world, and i'm not even exaggerating!!
seeing both him and katniss just finally finding peace and comfort in each other post-war with their children?? that scene in the meadow of him and his child, basking in the soft warm glow of sunlight?????? beautiful. just beautiful.
Peeta is as green as the meadows Katniss sings about in her lullaby
Is anyone still here in 2024 and still have this couple on their heart?
They still remain my favorite romantic partnership in all of fiction. And I have read and watched a vast array of stories since I read The Hunger Games back in 2011. I rarely look at a couple from fiction and equate them to a goal worth being attainable. Katniss and Peeta truly are.

The hunger games movies are one of the best movie adaptations from a book series ever made in my opinion. Of course they didn't include everything from the books but they embodied the story so well and the actors were perfect.
No argument there
Yes 💯
There are a number of mistakes in the first movie that always annoy me because they could have so easily been fixed by changing a few lines of dialogue, but I still love all the Hunger Games movies. I love the books, too, that go into even more depth and have some plot differences.
Yup, they leave out very little. Especially with the two parter that is mockingjay almost everything gets included. Some characters get left out and some things are changed around, but it's a great overall adaption. The first movie is probably the most different, and even then it's 10 times better then other movie adaptions.... Looking at you Eragon
That is true

The book felt that way to me, the ending. It felt very rushed and just like she wanted to get it over with.
Why would they punish Katniss?
Peeta is really reliable and genuine, that is what I like about him. Imagine he was tortured and hurt physically and mentally but he still followed his heart. Isn't that so romantic? I wish I have a Peeta in my life too.

"I make a list in my head of all the good things I have seen someone do". This is actually a good advice for us trying to keep hope.
So beautifully and elequently stated. :)
Beautifully put❤

By the way, to make the search faster so you don't have to constantly scroll past the most popular videos.

That’s so inspiring and so true, thanks for saying that!
:(

Honestly if she never had to do the hunger games with Peeta he would have never been chosen.
With how determined she was to deny her affection for him she would have just avoided him and gone with Gale and it would have seemed oh so practical to her.

@ Fatima: Forever

Best ending. Finally their free. Living the best they could be. Without cameras, without acting. Just pure love.
It all comes full circle
anyone realize that katniss first wore a blue dress at the beginning and now she is wearing a yellow dress at the end of the series
Blue and then yellow, so? I still don't get it._.
At the end of the book Katniss compares Peeta with a dandelion in the spring. A bright yellow that brings rebirth not destruction. I assume that’s how they chose the color of her dress. and blue i guess is just associated with gloom and sadness.
Like a dandelion in the spring.... Yellow

anonymous yeah the books are so good!

Katniss having kids shows that she's finally feeling stable and secure and that's why it works so well
the scene where they're watching the rain...is oddly reminiscent of the scene where they looked out at the capitol in the first movie.
Yeah that was intentional. Mockingjay Part 2 had a lot of callbacks to the first movie especially
seeing the rain, the same rain in which a boy offered a loaf of bread that shaped a whole story and touched our hearts. The same guy who saved a girl and helped her get everything they deserved.
Just beautiful, to think that that act of kindness already contained love.
Its so sad because Katniss lost basically everyone and she's been through so much. Still, she puts her family and others first. We got to admire that
I feel like I found it hard to ship Gale and Katniss because their love came from a different sort of understanding, a love for each other to survive, the love to help each others families, a love to hunt. this scene is so heartbreakingly beautiful, especially the part where they're sitting on the porch where they're looking out while it rains. the music, the lighting...it's just beautiful. it always makes me want to cry. everything about this whole epilogue. in the silent moment where katniss and peeta just exchange a glance and katniss smiles a bit, it feels like they finally won. even though they lost so, so much along the way, in the end they still had each other. i can see when katniss smiles a bit that its almost like a reassurance that "it's over now, we can rest".
5 years later after finally seeing this on screen and still gets me so emotional! 😭
You're not alone
i start sobbing every time when the hug she attacks him with in the beginning is her reaction to realizing that the peeta she knew has returned. planting the primroses is an act of the old peeta and she is so happy and realived that hes back because she thought shed never have the old peeta back so she just throws herself into his arms and he gladly holds her tight because he thought she’d never allow him to be near her again
What a nice way to end the saga. And the hunger games movies will remain one of my favorite movie adaptations, for how true and close they stay to the books.
What i loved about this ending is for once, in the ENTIRE SERIES, despite everything she has lost and everything she has been through. Katniss was finally and truly at peace.
yeah though i wish peeta lost a leg like in the book
How she looks and smiles at him watching the rain is touching. She smiles and you can see her relax. It's where they're meant to be. Alone quiet safe and together.
Peeta was sensing Katniss, it was almost like he felt her getting emotional a bit when she was talking to their baby, he looked at her and stared at her until the other kid jumped on him. He could feel her❤
I remember in the book, it took katniss a long time to heal from her burns and agree to have children. as someone who doesnt eant kids either, i am impressed she decided to have theme. Such a big esponsbility.

The lines Katniss has with her baby are so beautiful and moving.
Here is the place where I love you....🥺oh god, I remember it. After all of these years I still remember the words.
It came back to my mind the moment I saw Peeta with their son🥺♥️.
