- Over at my mother-in-law's house, where a bathroom fitter has decided to start fitting spotlights and managed to blow the fuse board, so I've popped over with my camera to see what all the fuss is about

You could save someone's life by reporting them. Either the installer themselves or the end user who could get a shock from a metal cabinet hung with a screw that's gone through an unearthed cable who was just trying to get the extra shampoo out whilst holding an earthed shower hose...is a bit much but not impossible.
I agree with this, 100% report them imagine if the next time you aren't there and a bairn gets killed from their work
a house that could potentially last 100+ years without having the bathroom re-done, with people who need to shower nearly every day.
Now scale this with how many electric installs they've done.
It's not unrealistic to assume something will go wrong at some point.
Whomever edited this needs a medal. I know it's a serious subject but (insert graphic) it really added to this video. Looking forward to the follow up.
Did it myself mate 🙌🙌
Love the graphics Nick, and I have a feeling that you won’t be getting any kind of electrical report from them, though I don’t think your holding your breath for one either, thankfully you will be able to sort it all out when they have ran off
Come across this all the time not only with electrics but mostly in my trade tv satellite networking.
You have to report these cowboys. They must be stopped straight away!!!
That’s dangerous how they have left that can’t see why other trades think it’s okay to do other trades work especially when it comes to electrics . I’d definitely report them I wouldn’t let them get away with it. Thanks for sharing this with us take care
Oh wow that is some bodging! Its only 3 wires.... Left hanging out the ceiling and joined together with contempt lol. You did the right thing, see what happens as a finished job then sort it. People saying to report them. To who? Trading standards wont care, HSE wont action anything. Local building controls probs best bet but good luck with that one as well....
6:35 🤣🤣
Love the photos 😂😂
I’m qualified sparky like most of u. Working as electrician part time, and full time in electrical wholesale, Can you imagine Costumers asking me how to connect consumer unit 😨😨😨 some builders asking for ready consumer units to swap one to one cable -Braker 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I’m pissed of same as you
This editing is brilliant. 😂
Editing Genius 😂😂
Adams mum 🫣
How does the bathroom look in comparison to the "catalogue photo" you put up?
This is a classic, “i’m an electrician, I can do the electrics” no mate, your not an electrician! You can make shit work that does not make you an electrician! It makes you dangerous! We all see it all the time and it’s very frustrating for all of us…
How did this end ?
please, please report this you can't risk someone being injured by these Cowboys, I am retired now, but have in the past reported a pair of plumbers fitting a bathroom and "installing" spotlights, and also a kitchen fitter adding sockets using 1.0mm t&e, which when confronted he said" but it's rated as 13amp in b&q" says it all really. both of the above were prosecuted... turned out it was a second offense by the plumbers ..2.5k fine & costs.
Leaving an easily viewed and exposed live conductor anywhere in any property is as close to attempted manslaughter as it comes imo. Kick their ass Nick. They need their testicles feeling by a governing body..
I’m with everyone else saying stop the job and report them
I know you said you’re going to speak to the company tomorrow, but you’ll just get fed some bullsh@t about they’ve never done it before, it’s a new spark they won’t work with again and say they’ll put it right, then move on to the next house and do the same thing over again.
What they have done already is dangerous enough to have lost complete faith in them.
I bet the plumbing and other general workmanship is just as bad.
If you let this slip, the next customer might end up with a charred home.
A bit more than charred. Cremated springs to mind!
The home is one thing. The persons body is another. If they don’t know what they are doing then In bathrooms you are generally wet so the risk of death is higher.
It’s not even close. They might as well ran lamp cord. A tip to the local inspector should be done. I see this all the time in the HVAC industry. We deal with dodgy fuel code violations. All that snap panel I hope is fire rated.
Best editing yet. Hilarious!😂. It drives me mad that these people can get away with this. Like another comment you spend all the time money and effort getting qualified and these guys can rock up and do what they like in the most dangerous location in a domestic property. Wankers!!
Wankers indeed!!!
OMG. 😳🙄😡 You can't let this go, Nick! This must be reported. You can't just wait for a random news report of a young family being fried in a house fire on your local news area!! Who ever did this work needs to be confronted.
Love all the inserted pictures! 👌👍👏
The tone of your voice when you we're chatting with him, surprised he didn't realise how close he was to trouble :)
Great video. I actually loved the edits, the innuendos were great. I also hate other trades doing other trades like sparks who plumb in showers and put ptfe on like insulating tape.😂😂. 🔧+💪=🔨
😂😂😂👌💦
imagine a IT-guy seeing a electrician lay un-shielded data right next to power cables with no spacing what so ever. but yeah this kind of thing happens in all trades. i loved it when Nick and Adam showed them putting in data and then asking for tips. my biggest tip is always leave enough cable for the next guy that might need to fix the connection after a bit of time.
Yeah i just watched a Artisans Electrics video with one of the lads doing a data install.... it was frightening@@highkicker11
I am not even a spark and even I would be like this looks well dodgy! How you held your composure and kept professional! WOW
As its your mother in law , surely you could chuck a new consumer unit and sort her bathroom out for free. Make time , what if your kids are having a sleepover and it burns down?
This. Do it and make a vid out of it, will pay for itself.
Was gonna post the same thing myself
Just report him. You should stop him doing anything like this to future works. He should be fined for selling services which are not certified and especially in a bathroom where you can likely to have a splash of water... And ⚡
In my opinion this has to be called out there and then. Get your mother in law to stop work and ask them to prove competency prior to continuing. Allowing it to continue is allowing this type of work to continue. They have to be called out on this.
I totally understand your frustration and I have been close to poor workmanship before, but couldn’t raise the issue directly as I’m not the client and they wouldn’t do it. But I haven’t been this close where you can actually make a difference.
It makes a mockery of us and our qualifications. Hope you get it sorted for your mother in law mate.
Imagine they have all the qualifications I would be in stiches laughing.

You realise Jordan's gonna have to sack them now 🤣🤣
Or send Dave and Nige to sort them out.
Mother in law !!!
And you’ve not changed her board to at least have RCD on sockets !!!
Hold your head in shame , but hold on it is the mother in law I’d do the same 😂
You need to report now mate. Disgraceful and very dangerous work carried out they are not competent and will do this in other people's homes 😢
Report it to who? The regulatory bodies won't care cos he's not registered with them.
@@peter806wilson if you can speak to someone... I'd still be doubtful anyone would care enough to do anything unless someone got hurt and even then I wouldn't count on it
They need reporting….! Thats more important than this video. If you don’t report them, the video lacks meaning. You’ll just be documenting yet another time idiots like this have got away with it. Keeping quiet doesn’t help fellow electricians or members of public.
A little ott with the illustrations depicting every point you make; once every couple of minutes for something significant will suffice.
Insightful & informative, nevertheless
Nice1
Report the company, that's out of order. Not only for the fact they're going to get someone hurt, but your mother in law (and their other customers of course) is paying them for their atrocities. Ps.. Not annoyed for "dramatic pause"......."going out to my mother in laws". Lies. 😂
These company's, are the reason your nearly having a stroke Nick, look on the bright side the work is the same quality as Adams 😂, Seriously Adams work is far superior that what you have showen, the company is cust cutting. You can put it right and re wire your poor mother in laws house as well as long as she let's you film...hope all goes well for her though.
Bloody hell wago box's are peanuts not hard to do it right 1st time ! Hate choc block 🤢
Nick thats terrible mate, they are doing it to a lady they think they can get away with it, let them finish, hold back on the payment, get all the evidence together and call citizens advice, and they will report to trading standards.
I think I’m going too 👍
@@NBundyElectrical defo mate, good luck hope it all works out for her 👍
I love the new editing. Did the fitters come dressed for the occasion and where did they tether the horses? 😆😆😆
Lol
Ooh, I'll get some popcorn in for the next one! In all seriousness though, if you don't say anything, who will? They'll be with somebody elses mum next week......... 😬
Nick I feel like you just have to report them. This is just me being honest here, but stop being Mr. nice guy, because next time it could be some poor old woman who ends up in a house fire because of clueless cowboys
You have to report them, this is just dangerous, don't let's them in the field, thanks !
I agree 100%. They have left that bathroom in terribly dangerous condition. That's not something that should be overlooked.
Who are you going to report them to, the electrical police, you need to realise nobody cares, I have been down this route many times, trading standards don't care, building control don't care the governing bodies don't care, so tell me where you go. Because I am damned if I know.
@@acelectricalsecurity its so true. all this red tape ew go though and when people break it no one enforces it
@@hogg8888 you are right, if more people died as a result, maybe, just maybe someone would do something
@@acelectricalsecurity Sad state of the country really, the lack of regulatory control just leaves things open to cowboys. Ruins things for the honest folks, and makes it so much harder to find them. (sticking my 'looking for honest tradespeople to do work for me' hat on there)
Hi Nick, Thanks for showing us this. I'm with everyone else on this one, now that you have it on camera and you know about it
if you don't report it and something else happens then maybe you could be held responsible as an accessory after the fact. I
don't know as I'm not a lawyer. Please report this as soon as possible before some one ends up injured or in the worst case
DEAD. It is ok to take ownership of the problem after they have finished and gone, but it will not stop them doing this shoddy
work for some one else.
thats perfectly acceptable in Albania and of course with artisan
WOW...if the ending of the install is like the start I hope you do report them. Their an accident waiting to happen, if not at your in-laws, somebody else's.
I like the picture inserts, very funny 🤣 for what is really a serious and alarming video 😱.
It also makes you wonder what the standard of all the non electrical work is like too. The dropping of the ceiling 'sounded like' it was an after thought and your in-laws only told at the last minute or after it was done.
Report him. Guy doesn't mind he is endangering people, just "give me 20minutes I want to get paid"
Not even waterproof fittings, steam or water is going to get in that space and rot the place, lucky it wont fall down after a while when it rusts away while you are showering and get a shock, slip and bang your head.
im going to bud
you really need to sort your outlaws out with a full rewire and new board located somewhere better mate
Mate, shop 'em and make sure your in-laws aren't charged for their botchery!
Nick, Beard is looking great.. Still early days!
thanks mate
Love a Nick Rant. Can't wait for part 2
Was funny seeing you throw the pic of Dave in 😂😂
Good video mate, looking forward to the result, Adams mum is FITTT 😍😍😍😂😂😂.
I see this all the time, kitchen fitters are really annoying!
Like the way this was presented, must've taken ages to edit.
Personally, I’d stop the job. Ring the ‘company’ and ask for proof of competency.
Until it’s installed properly, I’d withhold payment.
Harsh but if they keep doing it, you know there’s going to be big problems. If not there, elsewhere.
Let the ‘Spark’ know you’ve checked his work and it’s dangerous. Firms big or small don’t want to pay a Sparks the proper money. So bodgers crack on, probably because they’re told to do so. It doesn’t help the workers either.
It needs to be stopped. You know what to do.
Nick you should report this company cause they could end up killing someone
This was like watching an episode of phonejacker with all the image overlays 😂😂😂
😮Holly shit !!, think you need a whiskey or two I'd of lost my mind that said your rite there job there coxk up they should put it rite !! Please do follow up with paper work also 🙏 hope your well though buddy
Thomas nagys favourite duo strike again
Your mother in law will never get a cert unless its got your name on it you know it in your heart of hearts
The fonejacker is strong with this one 😂
I wouldn’t have allow them to continue, either do the work properly or sling ya hook. That false ceiling’ll go up and you’ll have no idea what it’s like above it.
The Jordan pics killed me 😭🤡
I’ve see lots of poor electric work in bathrooms when carrying out EICR’s.
It’s shocking ⚡️& they will probably get away with it😮
No probably, they will
This might come across as harsh... But I'd honestly report them, just because they're "Nice", etc. Doesn't mean they're safe to work with Electrics. If that was a member of my family getting that done, I'd dismiss them off the bat and tell them a law sue is inbound unless they can get an ELECTRIAIN to do the job or prove they're with an accredited agency or proof of Education/AM2 that they can carry out the work. Our trade is a dangerous one and people who shouldn't touch electrics, need to not touch any of it, in my honest opinion.
The amount of stock photos in this video!! 😂 But seriously report them, that is SHOCKINGLY bad (and dangerous!) 😳
I'm in agreement Njck, I am a plumber and fit bathrooms, I always get a spark in for the electric. We have to keep the sparks in work. Seriously though that looks dodgy😢
You might regret leaving this and not reporting it m8 . Looking at how they left it untill the next time they turn up !? I wouldn’t take the chance !
SKETCHY...... if messing around fan feeds etc switch wires n don't know don't touch....⚡see this alot a bathroom fitter or kitchen filter I do all... I'm not nocking anyone but a bathroom needs a plumber a joiner & a spark!! Kitchen needs a joiner a plumber & a spark!! One hat don't fit all..no choc box no earth/ sleving or anything that screeams I'm a one stop shop we do everything.....
I love your videos, but with respect I think you definitely SHOULD report this business. They're putting people's lives at risk.
It's funny how some of the guys in trades complain about "DIY" but then this is the state of trade work. Most of the guys complaining about DIY are probably just made at the "Professional" that came before them. I live in the USA, and it is 100% legal and ok for me to do my own work in my area. And I try to do everything to code and as well as I can even if I don't have the best tools. But I have seen professional work here that is shotty too, so it's not just the UK, and yes some DIY stuff is jank too, (looking at my 90yo grandpa).
You should report them.
Multi trades are a nightmare. And most of the time dangerous
Makes me wonder why we even bother spending so much time and money getting qualified and registered only to have idiots getting away with work like that. Luckily, you're there to sort it out, but it's scary to think about how many other people have had them do work in their houses.
1) surely would be eaiser for you to fix now.
2) would save your MIL a fair chunck of change
3) name and shame the bastards....people like this boil my blood and must be reported.
This needs to be your new video style 😂😂 reminds me of fonejacker
I’d 100% report him. No doubt. It’s not about being a grass or “he might have kids or provide for a family”…that could be a family bathroom, a child with wet hands touches that new mirror because it’s fancy and the kid wants to mess about, then a funeral. It’s not acceptable.
You want to make sure they ask you for the money mate. Sound like a company that will bully your mothering law for payment
Worse that a DIY job by someone half competent. UA-camrs have a go a DIY folk yet these folk are being paid and producing awful work putting other in danger! Get them reported!
First words were "t's all right now." Sounded like a Russina maffia voice. A few visual images are good, but a little too many there my Beard I think.
Wow Nick, WTF indeed. Fantastic editing btw
There are no such trades as kitchen or bathroom fitters. Just chancers.
This sort of work should be carried out by a building company who employ or subcontract chippies, plumbers, tilers, sparks etc.
The old adage "Jack of all trades master of none" still stands.
These people are stealing your OH's mums money for not giving the correct service and stealing work from other, proper trades.
Sadly its happening all over
Curious as to why your in law didn't get you to do it in the 1st place ?
The best bit of this video was that clip of Dave Savery with all the alcohol .........🎉😂🎉😂beer🥃🥂🍻🍺
Another fine job by Bodgitt & Runn, all trades specialists!
This the sort of work that killed someone (An MP's daughter??) and caused Part P to be brought in in the first place. Don't let them get off with it. I was s/e for 44 years, with 3 or 4 sparks and 4 apprentices trained.
I already know the dodgy spark on this job is Adam doing one of his weekend specials 😂😂😂
I say report. it...some could have been killed. bad workmanship is another thing.
Hi, mate. I got the same job after someone like this on the next day. Exactly same job for Bathroom, all lights was in 2.5mm twin and horrified wiring
Nick, just to cover yourself you 100% need to report them.
Not reporting them you are now causing an ommission in health and safety.
Not reporting this could put the people doing the work and their customers at risk and as you are aware that the work is not done to a good enough standard and you know the procedure is to report them AND you have a video of you knowingly letting them off and not reporting them then anyone who gets work off them in the future and gets this poor standard of work could potentially hold you liable as you are the trained proffesional.
At the very bare minimum I would contact the firm to get it in writing that they are reviewing their processes and will only conduct electrical work with those who are trained, compentant and qualified to do so.
The HASAWA is clear its acts or OMISSIONS, make sure to cover yourself mate.
Shite electircal work, but amazing video captions. Still laughing 🤣🤣
“He’s not an electrician”
Photo of private jet, pile of cash, models hahahaha.
The only problem with electrical work is you can make it work without it being safe😅 I’ve spent 5 years training there’s major difference between working and safe 😂
Just some feedback. These silly still images flashing on the screen have to go.
Love your videos, but the still images are very annoying.
We are adults, we don't need them
100% you need to pull them up and report. They can't keep going on doing this someone will get killed. Only sparks should do electrical work
These are the type of fitters going round knocking a new bathroom out every week. All pvc panelled because they cant tile or plaster. Bet the plumbing and wall prep is just as bad.
To all the people saying report it. The reality is nothing will happen from it. Its sad but true. And regulate the trade all you want - you just wont stop the jokers unless any of this is punishable by law
What ever theyve done i could have done, and i dont know what the hell theyve done but it looks so dangerous and dodgy, and fo hide the cables between the ceiling and the plastic panneling that should be sealed to walls to stop condensation and damp getting in, so then you can never get at it to check without pulling down a ceiling.
Also i see a lot of dodgy electrics, and im not a sparky,i tell the customer, stuff doesnt look right etc, but everyone below is saying report it but to who.
Great video look forward to part 2 and part 4 and 5.
Most bathrooms, kitchens, garden rooms & extensions are done like this these days. Builders will say they have their own electrician. But not want to pay out for a real one when connecter blocks and insulation tape will do the job😂
Better to see what the final product will be as we don't know their personal qualifications if it was bad workmanship, as they can find or may have qualified electrician to make good & satisfactory condition to sign off electrical work completed 😮
Similar thing with my Nan, 1960's house, ex council, electrics never been touched and a rewirable box, RCD for a shower. Bathroom fitters come to fit an accessible shower in the bathroom (has bath and basin in, loo is separate). "Oh your fuse board is old and dangerous, our 'electrician' can fit a new one for £££££" My uncle is there and paying and says yes. The 'electrician' arrives, ties his horse up outside and takes his hat and bandaner off and gets to work. We are left with a cheap Denmans split load RCD, circuits installed and labelled as 'unknown' no grommets etc on the board, no certs, nothing. In reality all it needed would have been to split the tails into a sub board and they could have hung the shower and 2 downlights off that. All the accessories are old style black Ashley ones, roses are the braded cable and there is VIR all over the place. Absolute tossers.
Your doing the right thing let them finish the job first get the certs from them then check the work after , they may rectify and carry out the work competently on the next visit 😏 (judging by what you have shown I’m not to sure about the competent bit) NICEIC , NAPIT etc will do nothing about it if they are not claiming to be registered with them , the council are a joke and will do nothing all liability lies with the client for not selecting the correct tradesperson. Hold back final payment until certs and checks have been carried out as the job is classed as incomplete if certification hasn’t been issued
Terrible but very common. I rarely get trades in now as have had to correct dangerous and/or shoddy work on too many occasions. Have even had to correct work done by a qualified electrician. I really don't know how you find someone that can do good/safe/correct work these days.
It boils my piss, why aren’t building control or someone dealing with these muppets
Your going to let her pay them 😮, you’ve got some serious self control
