FINALLY we get more hip hop on this thing. Welcome aboard, looking forward to seeing more.
🤜🏽🤛🏽 (I’ve entered the Dark Side) OT LOL this means a lot coming from you brother.
We need more hip hop producers using elektron boxes. It's the only way for humanity to advance at this point.
Haha , true !
Check out Leem Lizzy 🔥
Futurewave uses one
Check out Leem Lizzy, and Jon Wanye 🙏🏾✊🏾💚
@@drk_fi and voltagectrlrtv has some bangin boom bap on the Octa
Yesss!!!!! Micro timing and scenes are my jam on this. You have so so so so many possibilities with it.
I clicked with this machine so good and I’m so exited to keep exploring the effects on this slider since I’ve seen how much potential it packs. I appreciate your input brother. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
So glad to see you with the Octatrack! I've been on the fence for a while..I have a feeling watching future videos will make it easier for me to commit. I love the elektron workflow. I have a Digitakt but have been wanting that slicing and effects features. I love your videos because I can understand what your doing. You are a great teacher. Your pacing and video editing skills are on point. Your approach makes it feel easier to engage with. Would love to see a series of Octatrack videos, beats from scratch, basics to the expert. Much gratitude
Oh man, I resonate with your story so much as I also owned the Digitakt, but had to send it back due to the fact that I was not able to slice up my samples, but other than that minor detail, I really enjoyed the Elektron workflow in general. I just let you know in advance that the Octatrack definitely gives you everything we are looking for when it comes down to sample base production.
New gear is always dope, and I absolutely LOVE watching cats on different pieces of gear! Congrats on the new toy, and the beat was nice!!🙏🏾✊🏾💚
Thank you, brother, and I agree with being able to see how there is a different approach with different pieces of gear. Blessings to you🤜🏽🤛🏽
Yoooo Malo! You really motivate me to use this thing. I have the Octatrack on the shelf for almost a year! Made like 5 beats on it, but went back to the MPC.
Thanks for this inspiring video bro. Really appreciate it. Please make more Octatrack videos ❤️🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Dope to see you catching the octatrack. I myself am waiting to grab a mk2 I found on a deal. Really excited to dive into it. Super excited to see what you come up with it. Really such a versatile piece. Has huge appeal in any set up
I’m so glad you mention this. I’ve been learning this machine and it’s been so fun seen all is can do for some basic and complex workflow.
Love this beat man!
Love elektron! There devices have a very deep warm sound. Look forward to more content on it ✌️
🙏🏽🤜🏽🤛🏽
Looking forward to more octa content, this was great
Your feedback means so much. Thank you for taking the time brother.
Holy crap that looks complicated! I owned one of these and wasted 8 months trying to learn it after work. Brutal learning curve. Returned it and every time I see an Octatrack video i'm tempted to try again.
New gear day is always the best day! The fader is really dope!👌
Dope demo. Thanks!
🙏🏽
Amazing video on the Octa.. you looked like you were having a blast!!
So damn dope brother 🔥 can’t wait to get my hands on one of these!!
It’s been so fun getting my head around this thing and it definitely has longevity with what you can do.
Copped! I had to after this bro. Sponsor this man Elektron he sold me on this one lol.
@@chevere4209 dude I’m really excited for you, it’s pretty complex at first but it’s so much fun learning it. Best believe I will be putting out a bunch of videos with this machine in the upcoming weeks.
@@malobeats Thanks bro! That’s dope, you already know I’ll be watching those! 💯 From what I’ve learned even the sample mangling and resampling makes it worth it. Let’s go down this rabbit hole together homie! ✊
Pretty dope brother!!!! Keep Hip Hop alive!!!!!
Amen 🙏🏽. Blessings
Thanks man, this is dope
🙏🏽
I had the OT for 2months and I was scared to touch it😅 until now. Great tutorial, I’m glad you got one too. Subscribing for more!
😮incredible
Oh no! Malo got bit by the (expensive and insanely complicated) Elektron bug! Dope as always, man.
LOL, it’s pretty complicated, but has been so fun learning the ins and outs in this machine. thank you brother appreciate the feedback.
I’ve been watching and I subscribed today for more octa
Love it
BEST machine ever
🤜🏽🤛🏽
Malo never misses. 😎
i've seen Jonwayne get busy on the Octatrack for years... nice video-- makin me think abt coppin this depsite being on the MPC Live 2
He’s someone I’ve been binging as he’s one of the few rocking the OT with that raw grimy boombap.
Man I’ve been lookin for a new piece of gear and been wanting the s2400, but this thing is dope as hell
Oh man, I’m so glad you mentioned this and I was a bit hesitant at first but once I tried this machine, I really clicked with it and it really resonates with my sample based workflow so I know this thing is going to grow with my production
One box...much joy.

beat repeat is more playable if you switch the Tape mode on the delay to off, IMO :) Cool vid, nice to see some different genre producers giving the OT a go!
Sick
Listening to your opening about the Digitakt on slicing from the future, you might wanna revisit the Takt because they just added slicing warp repitch and a few more gems!
Wwwhhhaaaaattttt!!! Hey man, thank you so so much for the update here. I’m definitely gonna look into that. Thanks.
Elektron Lover !!! Even the Digitakt is very dope for Hip Hop, Just Parameter LOCK the beginn and end points of the Single steps of the Mail sample (you know how?) and then you can continue playing with the Main sample in Keyboard Mode--- then you come around with some Creative ideas you‘ll will Not get with a slicing Mode (;
You‘ll now what i mean exactly? Could be a Gamechanger for Hip Hop Producers with Digitakt
Even though I’m not a user if Octatrack, it’s cool to someone to use it for different music than techno and ambient
awesome thanks
🙏🏽
Dope music. Really nice machine. Looks like fun. That price tag though…
Definitely does pack a good punch to what it comes with. I appreciate your feedback brother thank you for dropping by.
yeah man
OT is the best sampler
yessirr
19:19 that reverse!!
LETS GOOOOO

Sometimes comment section can really put you onto new things. I commented under a synth video where I said I was looking into getting the Roland j-6 to go with my Mpc One (portability/cool sounds/chords) and this one guy said I should check out the Roland MC 101. So I looked up the video and the machine looks really cool, it's portable, has cool sounds and is also a sequencer. If I wasn't so new to the MPC I would def look into getting one.
Morale of the story: it's always cool to try new gear and products to keep us fresh and thinking outside the box 💯💪
Woah, Compact Flash in 2022. BTW, I’m returning the Digitakt I got, too. Interesting to learn you wound up returning yours!
I was surprised when I saw the C fast card as well, but this thing is about 10 years old. I also owned the Digitakt, which I really fell in love with the workflow, but did not really like the lack of slicing samples, this octatrack has everything I was looking for in the Digitakt, so it’s definitely worth the upgrade in my personal opinion.
Maaan I'm not gonna lie, I miss those technical style screens on the MPC, Love the workflow but using a cursor feels more tactile. Might have to check out the octatrack!
Honestly, it’s been so satisfying having this type of screen with the arrow navigation buttons since it brings me back to my 2000 XL within old-school workflow. Chopping up samples might take a little longer but I feel satisfied with the time I put into it.
How does it integrate with the mpc live 2, duplicate or nice combo? I have mpc live 2 and sp404 mk2. Do you think this will be worth buying? Thanks for the help, your channel gives always idea about things to purchase.
Great video, what about Octatrack still having it?
We can count on more videos/tutorials on this pice of gear?
I have no real interest in this form of hip hop music per say. Well, at least not from the prospective of production though I do appreciate the art as a listener. I would consider myself more an experimental electronic/IDM music producer. But this video and your approach to the OT which along with a few other elektron boxes happens to be the centerpiece of my dawless music production workflow, has captivated my interest to such a degree that it’s earned my subscription :)
Thanks for the great content, I hope the depths of the OT and the elektron workflow bring you many more countless hours of exploration and discovery as they have myself and many others.
Cheers. And welcome to the elektron family!
This is awesome, I love the fact that were able to find a connection through different genre of music. Thank you so much for taking the time and sharing your feedback. I myself enjoy producing simple, bass, hip-hop music, but find so much inspiration within electronic music. Much love and blessings to you.
dope... i always wondered could it boom bap....
So funny, you mentioned this because I’ve always wondered the same thing until I tested this one out and just to confirm, it definitely does boom back at a whole different level and there’s so much more to explore that I did not touch up in this video.
the one device i know i'll probably get more frustrated with than love it, but still really want to have, what's wrong with me lol
Question, you can't live record on it? for example put it on record and have the slices spread over the buttons and record what you're playing? or is it step/trigger based only?
Now the question is... Are you going to combine this with your mpc and elektron heat for the ultimate workflow? 😮🔥
Oh man. I’m already setting this combo up and it sounds so nice. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥🫡
What’s the name of the song that was sampled 🤷🏽♂️ ?????????
why did u switch to AKAI?
What’s the learning curve on that?
It definitely has a learning curve, but it’s been so fun learning this thing from scratch.
Overpriced though. But fun.
I made mistake, bought octatrack mk2 a few months I studied a few months I figured it out, but then I bought akai liv2, guys this elektron just sounds bad, and there is nothing in it unique or that can not do akai, I fell for the tales of mystery octatrack but it's all nonsense, to write quality music is akai, alas!
Plenty of people out there showcasing what makes this device unique.
