Starting off our list is the Bombardier CRJ700 at $5 million to buy. These prices fluctuate depending not only on the state of the plane but also on the included engines. A newer updated engine model burns less fuel and is, therefore, more valuable, sometimes adding well over a few million to the price!
The big brother CRJ900 can be bought for one million more for $6 million, up to 23.5 million, or rented per month for $80,000. It's some nice symmetry 10 more passengers per plane is worth one million dollars more. The E175 can be yours for 9 million, or a cool 100k a month to rent. Its bigger version, the E190 is only 900k more expensive and only 10,000 more per month to rent.
When it comes to Turboprops, the ATR-72 can be snapped up for as little as 3.4 million, or rented for 60,000 a month. The Q400 is only 5 million, and 68,000 a month. These are the lowest prices and you could end up paying 20 million for each depending on quality.
Cargo Aircraft is rather particular.
At the start of the year, cargo rates were relatively flat and carriers were content with buying used aircraft and converting them to cargo operations, making pricing the value difficult as nearly any plane could become a cargo aircraft.
There has been a dramatic reduction in capacity and cargo operators have found themselves suddenly flush with cash. Hence why there isn't much of a second-hand market as a cargo carrier isn't giving up a plane anytime soon. Starting with airbus, we have the A330 freighter.
It can be yours for $49 million to 77 million, or 350k a month rent. In comparison, an Airbus A330-200, the freighter's passenger version, is $12.7 - 70.0M, or $125-600,000 to rent. We have the Boeing 747-400 freighter, which can be yours for $12 to 30 million, or $180,000 a month. Then we have the latest version of the Boeing 747, the -8F which can be bought at 92 million second hand or US$419.2M brand new.
The issue with list prices is that airlines generally pay 50% of what's posted, which in this case is around 173 million for a new 747-8F, or leased for 750 to 1.4 million. The last two Boeing freighters are the Boeing 767F for 18 million to 74 million, or leased for 230,000 to 550,000.
And the last cargo aircraft is the Boeing 777F for $82.5 - 152.0M, $700-1,150,000. You would think you would just buy the 747 as the two prices are so close, but the 777F is actually more valuable as it has fewer engines and less fuel burn than the 747F.
So how have prices changed since we last did a video? The Airbus A220 has declined in value since the start of 2020, this is due to the small number of aircraft available on the market and a small number of orders.
The Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 next generation, not the max, have kept value through the crisis thanks to the max grounding and limited production of the A320. Mid-weight A330s and 777-200s dropped massively.
I mentioned the A330 earlier in the video and the 777 is only at $10.4 - 34.5M, $100-310,000. These aircraft are for medium-haul sectors with lots of demand.... that just doesn't exist right now. 787s and A350s have maintained their price. Passenger versions of the 767 have been snapped up for cargo conversions and the price has rapidly increased.
And lastly, regional jets have held up well thanks to the reduced demand with airlines deploying smaller jets than the bigger aircraft - although sub 100 seater aircraft have fallen in recent weeks.
This video is different from my others, but yet the most requested on this channel! So if you are curious how much a plane costs then dive in and enjoy!
We return to normal videos this weekend :)
Congratulations 🎉👏 of being the top comment 👍😁 (as of now 😈)
I never considered there was such a market for airplanes. I've always just heard of things like Delta ordering a dozen new Boeing 7xx. Thanks for teaching me something!
I love this newly found channel and you are a wonderful narrator! Cheers from the US!
Aren't most cargo planes ,from the 1980s-2000s so I guess before this demand in freighters,it's probably cheaper then it's origanal price when the plane was realsesed
Many are! Hence why there isn’t a huge demand for cheap cargo planes
@@FoundAndExplained like 747-200F and 400ERFs. :)
Wow, i love this channel! Very refreshing to watch, and different in a good way from the other boring ones! Thanks for sharing this video!
Wow, thank you!
I love that they actually read the comment section and they will normally explain to the best so keep the great work up.
Thanks mate!
I think right now there's going to be a lot of interest in cargo-only planes. I wouldn't be surprised that Airbus is looking at a cargo version of the A350XWB-900 and Boeing is considering a 777-8F cargo variant. Especially now with Boeing ending 747-8F production soon.
I really think the A350F is a very real possibility
I’d also like to see a 787F:)
Thanks for the video, Found & Explained;)
We will when they start to retire. Why buy a new one when in a few years you can get an ex Ana 787
I have a dream, one day by God's will, I will own my Flight/ Cargo company. Thank you for the great Info. Sir.
Bruh this channel is so awesome deserves more subs
There are other converted freighters. McDonell Douglas MD-80 series and MD-90 series aircraft have been converted to freighters; among their recent duties has been hauling atomotive parts between the United States and Mexico.
Thank you you have been very informative
Thaksn your information 🙏❤️
Very interesting presentation. Would appreciate something about turboprop aircrafts with 30-80 seats capacity.Tks
Super interesting, just flew by!
One of your finest
Videos on the mic Donald Douglas's DC 10 and MD 11.Possibly even one about the L 1011
Hi - please do the same for ships. Bulk carrier, LNG carriers, Container ships and others if possible. Love the channel
How about a video on luxury private jets? Hail Nick!
Thinking it deserves its own channel

Nice videos. Starting a cargo airline?
When's your how to buy an aircraft video coming out?
Thank you so much!!!
You are welcome! Next video very soon!
I wonder how much that refurbishment cost?!
I'm a 35 year veteran Commercial Truck Owner Operator and I would like to buy and refurbish a 747 from a boneyard and become a global air-cargo aircraft owner operator.
I wonder what a combi costed, does it cost half of the price of a freighter or half of a passenger varriant?
Interessante saber os preços das aeronaves, gostaria que se possível você fizesse um vídeo, mostrando como adquirir uma aeronave através do Leasing!🇧🇷👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks thanks thanks.....
3:44 min, hong Kong airlines landed Dhaka, Bangladesh
I have no ideas about what kinda peoples has disliked this video which most of the aviation youtube channels will neglect to cover.
It’s a very dry video but it’s something people want
I want a boeing 747 for my 18th birthday for the memes. Wheres the cheapest one
You could buy 1 window pannel or it's seat which are bellow 100K so yes, atleast it's something am I right?
Iran is trying to sell some of their classic Boeing 747-200s, Thai Airlines is trying to get rid of their jumbo' s their old so they should be cheaper and China Airlines is selling the youngest 747-400 passenger varients in the world so it's unlikely that it's cheap.
I have interests in buying an aircraft
I'd buy the A 220 if i had the money
Can you give the link of after effect and blender
Blender is free. After effects is adobe and I also use premier pro. I can’t give you links they are super easy to google
I'm curious about how much it costs to keep these things flying...
Surprisingly less than you think! Cargo operators care less about fuel than passenger airliners because cargo has a higher price. After all have you ever heard of a low cost cargo carrier?
Здравствуйте если я возьму в аренду 1 из этих самолётов сколько рейсов можно сделать в месяц
If you're going to have a ready made cargo aircraft, there's only 2 to choose from really....... the beautiful 747-400 or 747-8. Anything else is irrelevant in my opinion.
