Notice the way that the putty eventually falls down that's because it is literally a very cheap but very overpriced putty I can't believe how dumb this person is
Could be very useful for goalies' glove, the impact on the fingers are painful sometimes, and it seems that the foam could absord the impact of the puck and help to keep it into the glove
I bought some of this putty back in 1992 when I went to a science show at school, I still have it and it still does the same thing, it hasn't deteriorated at all in 26 years...
I absolutely love the inclusion of D3O foam in the CCM goalie equipment. I've talked about it in both the Premiers and my newest Extreme Flex III pads; never once have I gotten a stinger in the glove or blocker, and the same goes for shots to the D3O foam in the chest and arms and new pants. Can't get enough of it. Thanks for the great video!
Thank you so much! I love your channel, too! Incredible videos, and truly informative. Doing everything the right way. We should do something together some time. Would be fun!
well it's really useful for us in nearly every aspect of our life can't wait for its applications in a side note it remind me of a material i saw long time ago that protect walls from explosions it been used in the pentagon if i remember correctly also i don't know if this is the same material or not thanks for the demo
That is neat! It sort of reminds me of cornstarch and water in that it acts as a solid-ish surface when impact force is applied to it, only more putty like when handled without force.
A couple of years ago when I was at the Minnesota state high school tournament me and my friend found a bunch of this stuff on the ground and it was fun to play with
I have 661 EVO 3DF and Leatt 3DO knee and elbow guards, and I prefer hard plastic really. When I drop to the ground hitting my knees, the hard plastic hurts a lot less.
I just bought a D3O back protector and placed it over my my hand and hit with meat tenderizer. Not crazy hard but hard enough and I felt it. Hurt a little. I then put the foam protector that I got with my Joe Rocket Phoenix 6.0 jacket in its place and I felt it too. D3O only a little better. I wonder how well this thing really works, so far, I'm not that impressed. Wonder what others have experienced with D3O
Car bumpers, phone cases, playground mats, other contact sports like Martial Arts....I could think of s million and one uses for this stuff. I wonder how much it costs.
You can make a similar material from corn starch and water. It’s emulates how it can become hardened with the introduction of kinetic energy. You can grab and let your hand sink in it but the moment you poke it it hardens
i wouldn't count on it.. maybe if they made a specific version for such insane velocities ? I would think the bullet would cause it to shatter like when he pulls it apart.. Thing about teh impact of the hammer or any concussion is it will be spread out over an area on initial hit almost never a stab or pointed hit.. and if it where on this material, it would typically be a very shallow point making the material resist it and work, if it where a needle or knife safe to say it'd pierce it.. Its not magic... just simple physics.. its an amazing material but clearly doesnt defy physics.. or does anything insane like stop a bullet im sure.. I'd assume this material can only be rated to a certain impact level, which sharply decreases as a single point is more focused than dilated across the surface.
It's a non-newtonian fluid. It stops blunt objects, not sharp ones. It most definitely wouldn't ricochet a bullet either. The bullet will go straight through the putty, and leave the putty in pieces. If you want to see how that would look, multiple people have shot balloons full of oobleck, the easiest and cheapest non-newtonian fluid to obtain. This D3O stuff might be more tensile, but it's still not going to stop a bullet. Just as everything that claims to be bulletproof fails to do as well.
You are right. If only NHL players making millions could afford CCM products... It's a shame really. Someone should start a gofundme for methot to cover the 200 dollar cost of this equipment.
That's not what Alex is saying at all you daft fuck. NHL players are provided the gear for free, it's not a question of them affording it. He's saying if this D30 technology could be implemented in the gloves that CCM are making, maybe it could protect against hard slashes to the fingers. Before you shit on somebody else, use your brain a little.....
So what exactly do you do with the shit? wrap it around your knuckles and shove your hand into your glove? does it attach to the inside of other padding?
Cool, been waiting for them to do something like this with non-Newtonian fluid properities but a bit more solid than water and corn starch. So many possible applications.
I'm downhill biker and two years ago a I had a pretty bad crash ... I broke my left ankle and it will never be in 100% condition ever again ... but importat thing ist that i had my new 661 knee guards with D3O foam for the first time on me and I can only thank them for the fact nothing happened to my left knee which took the first impact ... I fell on my left knee first and I didn't even felt it ... believe me it was really hard crash when it broke my ankle badly ...
Theirs a popular shoe insole in skateboarding called footprint insoles. They're great and reminded me of this. They do an egg drop test comparing it to remind insoles and other brands I can't think of plus the stock insole and footprint always saves the egg while the others don't. You should try it out it'd make for a great test, comparison, and video
My D3O chest protector has been broken because of bending inside scooter trunk! So I have used it for less than one mone month. How that thing can save me?
This stuff is the mutts. I wear Xion D3O shorts for public skating and underneath my hockey shorts for extra protection. Having fallen and injured myself without it, and fallen and not injured myself with it, I can say that it works.
They were using this exact same stuff in Lacrosse pads years ago and it ended up just being a fad. It was even called d3o back then too. The actual "putty" they used in the pads themselves was actually just rubber lol.
I have seen this before, they were building football helmets with this in them so when they hit heads hard they won't really have much of a bigger injury than before.
Check this out! New video ua-cam.com/video/m0Q2EA_dSNg/v-deo.html
Make a Bauer version
Do you guys make mouth guards from this stuff
Mma headgear from this stuff
Do you know where I can get a box of D30 like you've shown in the video, please?
I found one of those hammers in my mom's bed side table.
Chowder Stevens lol
hmm...... fishy.....
Chowder Stevens 😂😂😂
Your mom must have a drinking problem, because that's an ice pestle... you know, for making various gin or rum based cocktails.
Chowder Stevens lol
so do u just put the slime all over your skin to be protected?
Gurosama Bltch your fucking profile picture
Gurosama Bltch nice pic
Pretty much
Not from bullets
Just for research purposes, what is the name of the source of your picture? For a teacher
need it for my heart. shit Just always gets broken
Jeffrey Romero girlfriend just broke up with me days ago cause she was seeing my coworker behind me back... First loves hurt ~these hoes ain't loyale
Jeffrey Romero that was the pathetically offensive.
It won't work for my heart anymore, and of it would, it is only 30 years too late.
emo
ShooterMcGaviin that's f-in awesome.
D30 is heavily used in motorcycle gear. Glad to see it being adapted to hockey gear as well.
cool where can I get this mallet from?
Why am I here; I don't play hockey and I have a test tomorrow...
CrOsSeD Up Tv Why do think it’s funny to comment this on every goddamn video. Nobody gives a shit.
Only The Best nobody gives a shit about your opinion let him be
CrOsSeD Up Tv literally same
so it's expensive silly putty
Nah, it's more like that corn starch in water deal.
It's called non-Newtonian fluid.
at 1:36 it looks like the metal thing hit his hand without the protection. I think this is what Mat was pointing out
Seth Preston no, its expensive oobleck
Notice the way that the putty eventually falls down that's because it is literally a very cheap but very overpriced putty I can't believe how dumb this person is
Could be very useful for goalies' glove, the impact on the fingers are painful sometimes, and it seems that the foam could absord the impact of the puck and help to keep it into the glove
Silly putty. I put a same sized piece over my hand and it did the same thing. The processed foam is the difference.
TAOFLEDERMAUS good seeing you here
First like
TAOFLEDERMAUS exactly what I thought its a putty that can be processed into a foam which is pretty cool and I love your channel by the way.
Shoot this stuff
Bruh you’re literally in the weirdest video comment sections lol
This has been in motorcycle jackets and pant for years not, has saved many people from crashes. It’s great stuff
this stuff should be a phone case
That is a great idea! :D
hockeyblocker12 it is. Tech21 is a case manufacturer that has used this in their cases for years.
hockeyblocker12 boi. Look up tech 21. This shiz been found.
It is, this "technology" has been around for years lol
it is already.... I have one for my Nexus 5 I could beat on the side of that case for days!
I bought some of this putty back in 1992 when I went to a science show at school, I still have it and it still does the same thing, it hasn't deteriorated at all in 26 years...

Thanks GoalieCreaseNet, great to see you on our channel. Love what you do for goalies!
Thank you so much! I love your channel, too! Incredible videos, and truly informative. Doing everything the right way. We should do something together some time. Would be fun!
well it's really useful for us in nearly every aspect of our life

also i don't know if this is the same material or not
thanks for the demo
ITS LIKE OOBLECK!!!
oobleck probably got the design from this
I went to the CCM hockey skills camp this year and they told us about this. Now I have the D3O neckguard
He should do it with his smart watch. Then i ll come and watch
So just watch part two of this video linked at the end AND in video description..
He did
He did
bumble bee yes I was just bout to comment that it would been way more interesting if he did an proof
On insta : rolexhaendlerr
Had shoes with d3o in them ,the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn
is it better than flex seal
no.
Nothing will be better that the might of Phil Swift himself!
TaigaKuroko 11 nothing is better than flex seal. What a silly question.
Wtf did u just say
That is neat! It sort of reminds me of cornstarch and water in that it acts as a solid-ish surface when impact force is applied to it, only more putty like when handled without force.
Ain't nothing silly about this putty!
A couple of years ago when I was at the Minnesota state high school tournament me and my friend found a bunch of this stuff on the ground and it was fun to play with
In other words
non newtonian fluid
meh...
Your summary somewhat misses the point of the video... meh.
I had some biking knee pads with this material about 13 or so years ago and they don’t do much in terms of actually softening a fall
2:12 put on 0.25 it bounces a bit
Well obviously it’s going to bounce a bit. Don’t have to slow down to see that
I have 661 EVO 3DF and Leatt 3DO knee and elbow guards, and I prefer hard plastic really. When I drop to the ground hitting my knees, the hard plastic hurts a lot less.
Someone needs to put this shit in cars
Andrew Wirtz WHATS CARBON FIBRE
SirMixalot5000 or armor
Why? It wouldn't really do anything
You want a crumple zone in a car, smart chassis and frame design distribute load
The liquid stuff looks great. Like to see if the solidified armor is the same with that hammer
it's also used in motorcycle armour
What is the cost and performance comparison to MLV or Sorbothane?
*Hits Hand*

It’s used in phone cases and protective gear for almost all impact sports it’s even used in football boots
I use D30 in some of my mountain biking padding. it can take some hard hits.
This is basicly obbleak
Marco Stuff and things You mean ooblek
Oobleck*
The Fail Ninja ooooooooobleck
*Non-Newtonian fluid
*_obbleak_*

him: absolutely no damage
(after finishing the video)
*editor calls "911" and said "sir, my idiot friend broke his hand."* jk
Some motorcycle gear incorporates the same stuff too. Pads stiffen as you impact.
Did anyone else want him to break his watch at 1:24
I wonder how it would work on further football helmets for concussion??
Ccm all the way!!!
Alex Forlini ccm is an American brand lol
Edible Memes Canadian*
Nah. BAUER FOR LIFE
So u basically mix starch and water + orange dye + putty?
I was waiting for him to accidentally wack his hand
Schmupti 1:35
Congrats on 100k you deserved it 👍
can it stop a bullet ??
i wouldn't count on it.. maybe if they made a specific version for such insane velocities ? I would think the bullet would cause it to shatter like when he pulls it apart.. Thing about teh impact of the hammer or any concussion is it will be spread out over an area on initial hit almost never a stab or pointed hit.. and if it where on this material, it would typically be a very shallow point making the material resist it and work, if it where a needle or knife safe to say it'd pierce it..

Jape, even so, D3O can only withstand up to a certain velocity.
You can see how it snaps apart when he pulled it apart. A bullet with its high load would be able to fracture the material and pass through.
this is the same material in my note 10 plus zigg phone case says right on back 3do its amazing
1:24 accidentaly misses and hits hand.
im thinking about usin d3o and xrd in my football shoulderpad and helmet
I'd like to see it in motorcycle gear.
Airgun Evolution it is in motorcycle gear, icon uses it alot in their vests and jackets
So where can i buy?
That's not a hammer bro.......
Looks like a great advancement in the area of injury prevention.
Sure would've helped Methot when Crosby hacked the ever loving fuck out of him
You are right. If only NHL players making millions could afford CCM products... It's a shame really. Someone should start a gofundme for methot to cover the 200 dollar cost of this equipment.
ILL BILL NECRO 😂😂😂😂😂

Shut your fucking mouth!
ILL BILL NECRO Uh, no. Little Billy butthurt that somebody called him out? Learn to comprehend before trying to make fun of somebody next time...
cool video! an amazing material, is it possible to purchase this material? ?
use it in football helmets to reduce concussions
Captain Caveman take off the helmets and the head injuries will decrease
grimheathen that would create for INJURIES lol your dumb
football is natural selection's favorite sport
Helmets don’t protect against concussions my dude, mouth guards do
Concussions happen in the brain so helmets do protect, not mouth protection.
Everyone here is stupid or think they are fun.
I've looked everywhere to get a box of D30 like shown in this video but, can't seem to find it. Any suggestions, please?
I need this product in gel, where can I buy on line in this presentation?
Make a phone case out of this!!!!!!
@hockeytutorial: im custom building a padded shirt and was wondering if this is for sale anywhere Thanks!
“On the palm of my hand” -puts it on the back of his hand
😂
So what exactly do you do with the shit? wrap it around your knuckles and shove your hand into your glove? does it attach to the inside of other padding?
He looks like CashNasty 😂
SimonSihavong who tf is that
So should I put the goo on my hockey stick or...?
Does anybody else find it just slightly strange getting HOCKEY tips from a black guy with an English accent....🤔 lol
uNkLeRaRa4 so what if he is black
bro stfu
uNkLeRaRa4 Fuck You! Dumbass
Lmao..
Racist....
it look lik he miss and hit his hand, but he went with it good for him. tell me if you think he did too?
Feels like a sham wow commercial.
Im not a hockey player or anything but this could have many other applications like phone cases or box liners for when people are moving
Lmao you were bashing your ring not your hand. Even if you had something like a hard putty on your hand it would still hurt to be hit with that thing
Rick Rooss are you silly a heavy metal object hitting your hand wouldnt hurt
no just dumb because he thinks its fake.. sigh
He got a really big ring and that shock absorption was just on metal.
Rick Rooss look at unbox therapy's video
Rick Rooss How about the glass?
Does any body have any tips.for body checks
Cool, been waiting for them to do something like this with non-Newtonian fluid properities but a bit more solid than water and corn starch. So many possible applications.
Very similar to the poron inside cascade lacrosse helmets in their protection abilities.
So what cornstarch u used to have this expensive oobleck??
I just bought some new ccm tacks elbow pads. Before this video, now realizing they didn't come with this😢
i can see this being used as a military exo suit with metal plates in vital areas given some key factors needed to be fully bullet proof armor
Theirs a popular shoe insole in skateboarding called footprint insoles. They're great and reminded me of this. They do an egg drop test comparing it to remind insoles and other brands I can't think of plus the stock insole and footprint always saves the egg while the others don't. You should try it out it'd make for a great test, comparison, and video
is there some for knee pads and thigh pads for football?
*Does CCM use this in their jocks as well?*
finally a good use for oobleck! (cornstarch and water(non-newtonian fluid))
I always wonder why bullet resistant vest arnt lined with this lol I wonder if that would make a difference or not
Is it bulletproof do
Sir tell me a material to keep my ice hockey stick protected.
How many layers of it will it take to stop a bullet?
This is cool! Kinda reminds me on non newtonian fluids, but more extreme.
So this is for nuts protection, rigth?
It's interesting how someone went their way and actually used ooblek as a foundation for protective gear technology.
A pair of gloves made from this stuff would be awesome. Cut resistent material for outter layer and this stuff for inner layer.
They were using this exact same stuff in Lacrosse pads years ago and it ended up just being a fad. It was even called d3o back then too. The actual "putty" they used in the pads themselves was actually just rubber lol.
Can i use that for a Air Force Vest Helmet?.
Sir can you tell me which country D3O raw material manufacturer?
Wait I just realized that this material can also be used for other purposes like making a smartphone case maybe.
do they use this stuff in cars and planes or any transportation?
Bud, this works with a pancake too, ive been hitting myself with a mallet and i put a pancake between my hands and the hammer and it feels fine
I have seen this before, they were building football helmets with this in them so when they hit heads hard they won't really have much of a bigger injury than before.
Idk why this was in my recommended but this was a pretty interesting video.
So it's basically a semi-solid non-newtonian fluid?
would it work if I use it on my bumpers on my car?
