My thoughts after 7 full years of life in a tiny house, heading into year 8. Somehow when I was filming this, I was thinking it was 8 going on 9. Sorry for the mis-speak.

hi Ariel? I learned in this video that Clay is your husband, not a boyfriend 😉 may I ask when you two married? I know you met at the property where you used to live, how long ago was that? I hope these questions are not too personal.

Ariel, believe it or not but after watching you over the years you have been my inspiration for me to live tiny. I'm 63 and I've have literally just given up my bricks and sticks rented house to live in my beautiful travel trailer where I'm pitched permanently on a coastal site. I do have electric but I haul my water, I have a cassette toilet and I have propane cooker and heating that I don't need as the winters aren't cold here in Cyprus. I'm truly happy for you and to see you have Clay and Burley by your side. Happy 8th anniversary. 💕💕

Moya, I too am 63 and just moved into a small house I bought. I live in a small town in Oklahoma U.S.A. I have tons of respect for you since I know what it takes to live the way you do. Best wishes.

Having followed you for years, watching The Griz doing his thing in your home and then greeting Burley-Man sure has made the years flow by in a graceful manner. Meeting you down in Missouri and watching your poise and presentation was another plus in my life. Thank you for taking the time to hone your editing skills, film when it might have been inconvenient, always having a cheerful and bubbling presence, and bringing us along on a journey which is not unlike, in many ways, to Richard Proeneke's (may have misspelled his last name) life in Alaska. "Thanks for the memories"

You have no idea how your videos lift us up, gives us hope in humankind, laughter with your fur babies and watered mouth with your cooking 😁

I can't remember how many years it's been since Fy Nyth and I collided, I believe at least 3 or 4 and I've loved every minute of it. My husband (now deceased) and I built a small house in the rural south in 1986. We had help with the cinder block piers, the trusses and the electrical wiring, the rest we did ourselves. The county in the state we were building in had lots and lots of rules about what a builder could and couldn't do. Having an off grid tiny house would have been a great option for us but wasn't an option in 1986. We cut trees off of our 3+ acres, had chickens, guinea fowl, and a little garden. I was fortunate because my Mom and Dad gave us the land, carved off from their land. After a few years we ended up moving back to Arizona 🙂

Happy Anniversary! I've watched you from the start, interesting, informative, sadness too and I'm glad you let us all go on the journey with you. I wish you all things good, a happy life and peace within. I'm one of those 'older' people who's dream it was to build my own cabin, I had the knowledge, the physical strength and the will but things came in life that changed plans, put my goals in different directions, etc., no excuses, just the way it was. If your dream is to have a tiny house, a cabin, or whatever your dream is, do it while you can, if you can. Now I'm 67, post cancer (100% cured) but treatment can rob you of your bodies abilities. I still go out and split firewood which, like you Ariel, I love doing, it's peaceful and the end result is a warm fire. Again, thank you Ariel, hope to continue with you on your journey through life!

I have followed you since about year 3 or so.. I have learned SO MUCH from you about so many things. You are so pragmatic and sensible. My favorite part of this anniversary video is to see the corners of your mouth turn up when you talk about this journey, and how finding your life partner… loving the same things you do. You deserve every bit of your happiness. You work hard. Well done, my UA-cam friend!😊🐾👍🌲

I'm currently working on the work/save part of my journey. I want to buy my own property with either raw land or an old rundown house that I can fix up. Unfortunately, my husband isn't interested in losing his conveniences so I'll probably be making my journey on my own. But it will be well worth it to not have a mortgage hanging over my head and the freedom to spend my time the way I want instead of being stuck in the grind.

I just bought my tiny house My brother has let me put it on his property. I love that I was able to buy it outright. I got my from Incredible tiny homes in Newport Tenn. I feel blessed that I now am able to retire & relax . I have enjoyed your video's & have learned a lot from you< you even made me feel I could do a composting toilet .but I'm older & have used outhouses in my past. So..... I knew I could do it, I just wasn't sure what was involved. but because of your video I was able to make a informed decision, So thank you.

Ariel, I love living vicariously through you! I am 58, and would love to try tiny living, but for many reasons it will not work for my family. We live in a large home, but it is paid off. My husband and I have decided we will stay here until we can’t climb stairs anymore. In the meantime, I have been decluttering and clearing out a lot of the “stuff”, and just generally trying to live more simply. We enlarged our raised bed garden this year, and I’ve been preserving as much as possible. I even used your sauerkraut recipe, which I loved. We are blessed with a great neighborhood out in the country and wonderful neighbors. So the tiny house will remain a wish, and I will happily follow your progress. 😊

    Congratulations on your journey.
It is an amazing time for your generation, with the internet becoming as common place as electricity. Anyone with phone and a good eye can make money in photography, where as not to long ago you had to invest in a good film camera and develop it. Solar has made leap and bounds in just the last five years, making a nomadic life much easier. But as you mentioned, and many people forget, it still comes at the expense of hard work, sacrifice, and good planning.
I hope am am around for the 20 year episode, keep up the good work.

I wished that I had that grinder that you used on your cranberries and oranges. My food processor and my immersion blender went on strike day before yesterday. I ended up cooking the whole berries and zesting the orange. Used the spices that you recommended and the family liked it. They took some home and so did my sister. WONDERFUL with turkey and I love it on hot buttered toast! Thank You!

Dear Ariel, congratulations on your 9th year anniversary! I’ve been here since the days you had Bear. I actually fell in love with your kindness and compassion, you were so wonderful to her. Shortly thereafter, I fell in love with the entire Fynyth world and adventures. My goodness, looking back, you were just a baby! So brave, encouraging, and inspiring. That still holds true today, just on a larger scale. You are like family now. Burley, Clay, Velcro and all the birds too. I have so many ideas but you probably get a million a day so I will refrain from sharing except one little tip. For years I took care of 30 show horses full time here on the east coast. I remember plenty of 9 degree mornings which of course meant lots of water carrying. Doing a minimum of 60 buckets a day, my posture was taking a beating, leaning far right. So, I started carrying two buckets at a time to balance my posture. It worked, and even though it was more weight, it also made me stronger and got my buckets done in half the time. Just something to consider! Much love to you and your family.❤️

We just moved onto our property Nov 1 st and we're living in our 32 ft RV , and will be living in it until we get a manufactured home put on the property. We have a well, electric and septic already on the land so it's definitely nice to have that....our RV isn't all seasons so before I left my home town I started insulating the roof ,I'm glad I did cause I run 3 electric heaters on low in three different zones of the rv and that keeps us warm down to 22 degrees. We have chickens and rabbits seeing that we're working on being a farmstead...good luck with you and your hubby on your new property!

Always thoughtful and interesting, Ariel. Thx for taking us along with you! Btw did you ever find out what became of that orphaned baby moose that was hanging around your house?
I started watching you before you painted the exterior. Has it been so long? I was inspired and started accumulating tiny house stuff. I still have a stack of new windows, cute door knobs, etc. that I might now not ever use. Lol
I have five mostly grown kids, most of which moved back home to finish college so tiny just isn’t going to happen for me. But I like to live vicariously through you, as an alternative universe😁

Ariel, if you've never seen Little Mountain Ranch's videos, there's a lot of good info on root cellars in a cold climate. Good to see you and Burley warm & comfortable in Fy Nyth. Have you and Clay thought of a name for your new homestead?

I had heard of tiny houses back in 2009 and thought of building one but would not be able to tow it with my van.

Happy Anniversary! Thinking about "I wish I had..." I have done so many things that I wished I could do, some worked out, some did not, no regrets there. But I won't live long enough to do everything I wish I could do, so I might well make the statement "I wish I had... " But I would have had to give up something else to have made that happen. Choices!
