- Опубліковано 21 лис 2019
- Fresh from our German connection Fabian Reimann, an extended cut of the legendary three-time world champion Mix Master Mike (Michael Schwartz) blowing up the spot, Bochum, Germany, in '99.
Thing I love about Mike is how he is completely unrestricted, he just flows and does whatever he's feeling at the time, amazing DJ and huge influence.
a true freestyle artist
@@MichaelShum That's why he's the MASTER ;) love to see him live some day
Just like your mom! B1tch don't stick to no script... ain't nobody got time 4 that
That's Mayday Mic Spec
Not too bad .. okay even ..
Damn that shit was dope ..
Mike is disgustingly under appreciated....
He's literally the only DJ I know by name. What in the hell are you talking about?
mike definitely has the best facial expressions to the crowd after he does some nice cuts.!!!!
Droppin' bombs for sure. MMM is a legend, going to see him tonight, opening for Godsmack. Couldn't care less about the main act lol...
"the jimi hendrix of the turntables" is damn right. he scratches in such unique, psychedelic and at time downright scary way. i never seen someone spin like this. gen z here barely getting into DJ's and mix master mike is one of the first that i discovered.
haha “unique, psychedelic and at times downright scary” - great writing !
mothafuckin legend for this comment, RESPECT!
Couldnt have said it better
True but there man6 better turntablist nowadays. But he was a founder.
That takes balls of steel to do that live and natural ability. Unbelievable talent
It took me a long time to realise just how much mike is ALL OVER the Hello Nasty album. It's wasn't just scratching - he was allowed to become part of the music on nearly every track.
Yeah that was awesome, they showcased him throughout, he was a Beastie Boy.
YES
Saw mike with the beastie boys during the license to I’ll tour, then headline at my very first rave I ever went to in 99 at home base in SF and he absolutely killed it. Met him in 02 staying at a hotel I worked at in Sacramento for the 02 kings/Lakers playoffs & made it a mission to meet him. Found out he & another friend checked in to two different rooms. Ended up stealing 2 nice bottles of wine (which the hotel should provided in the first place lol) and presented it nicely on a room cart. Very appreciative as he was, he came down to the lobby to say hi. Signed my MixMasterMike cd cover. 🤘 as I left that night after my shift, a coworker flagged me down saying that he had something for me. Gave me a dope glossy signed photo as well. Made my night.
MMM's routines are a testament to how good the Shure M44-7's really are
Who dat?
That’s a mic, shure.. I guess I used the sm 58
@@templestark4779Turntable needles
@@sebastian-gs9ffThe M44-7’s were LEGENDARY cartridges for scratch DJ’s back in the day and are pretty much holy grails now for all turntablists. I still got mine in the boxes and some “white labels” in the tubes. But yea believe it or not Shure used to make KILLER turntable hardware. They added bass to your records and the needle would never hop off the record. I still use em, but I’m waiting for my Stanton 500’s to finally die.
mixmaster mike always had the best table side demeanor
slidekicks and over the stopsign cheats
back when hip hop was authentic.
Fuckin' insane. One of the best ever who absolutely rocked his own style.
Watching Mix Master Mike play his instrument so flawlessly, will never get old to me.
I love that he's wearing a Jermaine O'Neal Blazers jersey.
Thing is. A lot of people talk of qbert dstyles etc being best skratchers. But forget about the insane skills of this man!! Mad skills
definitely one of the greatest and most original scratch DJs of all time
Holy balls, how good is this guy.
That opening gets me pumped every time!! 👊
Mix master Mike's energy is unmatched, he gets me hyped every time!
Just freaking WOW. I've never seen a DJ better than this GENIUS.
Q Bertha
I fucking LOVE Mixmaster Mike!!!
A master at work. Awesome.
Wow First time ive seen this guy, this is how it should be done
Help Us Mix Master Mike, You're Our Only Hope !
Now - this is DJing... One of the best Mix Master Mike!
The audience is not even dancing or anything, they are just staring at he's hands working :D
Fukn rite, what up Mixmaster Mike, awesome video slice.......Respex, Big Upz, & Mad Love to all the dedicated, devoted, & passionate DJ's.....🔥💯👍🙏🎶🌎
No laptop or loop buttons!! Wish he would go back to this , shows his real tallent!
Everyone says this and it makes no sense. Cue point memory isn’t the skill he’s showing off, scratching is the skill.
@@urbangangsta Thanks for your reply. These people come out with the same ole chat let's not forget if the tech was around then they would have used it also this would of all died out if it had not gone foward the way it has.
@@ajohnstitch I don't think it would have "died out". The sign of the times changes when new technique is introduced, yes. But skills would have still developed.
@@urbangangsta But cue point is a huge factor that is intrinsically shown off, whether it's meant or not. It's just an added bonus when dj'ing like this with no buttons or laptops.
It's like when Grandmaster Flash used to mark his cuts with crayon. Technology took the place of that, but on a far less scale as far as ingenuity is concerned.
@@JG-ts2ud you hardcore fan boys shit me. The basic point people are making is that he's doing it live and unassisted. Get over yourselves and your technical crap.
"MixMaster Mike with the scretch routine!"
Amazing Set from the Serial-Wax-Killer!
Love from Germany
Mixmaster Mike is also a favorite turntablist cat.
I caught him on this tour in Nova Scotia...mind bending
Nova Scotia!? He would come to this place eh? Damn. I was only like 8 at the time haha, wish he'd come back!
Mike is an old school DJ. Which this a lost art. Everything now is done on a computer. Or a drum machine.
This is a proper night at a proper club. Mike attacking the turntables with serious business and a great, funky crowd who dig it!
Dude thank you for uploading this!!! What an absolute monster on the deck.
Fucking legend on his on and with the Beasties.
Best channel on UA-cam thank you!

My all time fav DJ righ here too dope!
Wow what a gem .
NEVER SKIPPED A EFFIN BEAT....
Amazing
1:42 that transition slick!
A true master at work. People just in the moment. Taking it in, enjoying it. Camera phones killed living in the moment for so many people. Putting a screen between yourself and an artist...you may as well not be there.
This is fucking witchcraft! Saw him live with Cypress Hill and it was a total blast!!!
The best to ever do it!!!!
This video made me wanna buy an equipment back in the days. Thank you for the upload!🙌
This video makes me want to buy more equipment TODAY....lol
No serato, just kickin' it👊
I saw him on the B-Boys "Hello Nasty" tour. Words that come to mind are: 1) Integral, 2) Unrestricted, 3) free, 4) unsponsored, 5) creative. NO-ONE IS THIS NOW.
Super good DJ, full support from new friend here.
Pinnacle of DJness
Un fuckin' believeable!!!!
⚡🔥⚡🔥⚡🔥⚡🔥⚡🔥⚡🔥🔥⚡🔥⚡🔥⚡
Hard as nails.
They don't make DJs like him no more
thats why is still number 1
DJ mix master Mike was always in another world him n DJ qbert they were way ahead from there time other DJ on the Truntablist n he crew too like DJ short cut when they were together no one can't mess whit them at all at that time im sure they get together they will rock the rest of other DJ whit all do respect to other legend like the Xman n DJ craze but they can't be champion all the time they need other upcoming DJ flip the scrip n do there thing too 👍😎

Holy sđĐt this is insane.🙌
Reppin' the Blazers! 🖤
Mikey did an interview on Josh Adam Myers' "The 500" Podcast last week. Talking about License To Ill and his history with the Beastie Boys. Its worth a listen if you like podcasts.
Dope shit 🔥🔥🔥
MMM, Abilities, and Babu MAY be the 3 best DJs ever. At least in my opinion.
Legend
Before cell phone cameras….relying on our memories
0:34 great to see no phones. I grew up like this
Wow it's nice to see the Vestax PDX A2S (made in japan) and Vestax mixer PMC-05 PRO II (Made in Japan) days ago, I went to a thrift store in tokyo near my place, it was sale about $20 dollar each. There are so many high-end old dj gear equipment near my house, hopefully i can buy everything are cheap now.
Cal Tel you better snap those up!!
you can still find lots of Vestax products in Japan...also in the States...but in Europe its like finding gold...just got a 20 year old NM in box pro 07
Dude message me back. I'm in Australia and trying to import some vestax from Japan. I need a contact who can help me out. I been quoted ridiculous prices and to find any vestax in Australia is beyond rare. Cheers 👍
Que pedazo de CRACK!
ESTE MAN SE COMUNICA CON LOS OVNIS A TRAVEZ DE LAS TORNAS!!!!!
Es justo como empezó, según la entrevista que le hicieron en el documental Scratch
The MAN
oh my god
I remember those Vestax turntables with the pitch controls down the right side. Vestax thought some DJs would prefer them to the normal pitch controls, but I don't think they were a success, because they put them back in the old position when they later released the PDX-2000 model.
By the way, did you ever see Mike on the kids' TV show 'Yo! Gabba Gabba!'
Yeah I find the regular place for the pitch better, I had these vestax and I didnt like it, i dont like regular pitch on turntables when they are not battle style, you can be far more accurate on the pitch when it's side on as you can tap it and you can see the bevel better, I have never understood why mixing djs didn't use battle style, turntables are clusmy to use that way and it has no advantage over battle style for mixing
very furious
That woman they panned to in the front was definitely “feelin” the beat.
She looks like she is in deeeeeeeep thought.
Great set!!! Does anyone knows the intrumental beat at 3:37 and after that he is scratching? I would be very happy to know!!Regards from Ath/Gr
the GOAT
One word - DEMON
