This will be cool! Don't forget to factor in weight of fuel, driver, passengers and luggage. Also the weight needs to be even between the two axles as that will be checked as well as the total.
Music to my ears. I have a T6 transporter and have purchased from you guys in the past. I also have a 2019 lwb crafter and have been looking for parts (led lights) for ages. Great stuff. 👍
Be aware if you go for 20 inch rims that the packages sold do not have tyres rated high enough for rear axle weight. I over came this on my 2015 sprinter using a different tyre size for rear axle.
I did a few thousand miles in a 2018 LWB one of these. I loved the engine, just a solid slab of torque from 1200rpm to the redline. I was shocked to find it was only a 2 litre! Wouldn't mind one in my T4.. What I didn't like was the rubbish steering lock and the bloody dynamic volume limiter on the stereo, it sounding like a kid playing DJ with the volume knob.
Life goals activated! Absolute beast and road presence! In top hands with Dan and would love to get involved helping in this conversion, just a shame we are based in Southampton. Will be following the progress, particularly the aftermarket products 😎
Looking forward to this build 👍👍 You can increase the van carrying weight from 3500 to 3850 Contact SVTEC ask for Gavin he is registered with DVLA to up grade the chassis plates by removing the towing weight from the plate which increases your carry capacity to 3850 he charges around £150 👍
Its so cool you r&d aftermarket lights for these vans. Many will benefit from the upgrades of the god awful halogen ones. Speaking of halogens, can you elaborate why your T6 fog light LED conversion kit isn't compatible with the T6.1? Just retrofitted T6.1 fogs and was rushing to your site to order the LED's but saw they're not supported. Do you know any way you could have LED's on T6.1 fogs. TIA!
Cracking for a camper for use on the roads youd find over in America but i wouldnt like to pilot that down dome b roads over here. Will it have a 'garage' and permanent bed above?
I used to tow a twin axel 8ft wide caravan with a Q7, this will be easy 😂 No fixed bed and no really garage as such. So much room for activities though 😜
I fancy getting a CR50 XLWB. The extra weight capacity and dually rears means that weight is not such an issue. However you do need a licence that covers driving the extra weight. Cheapest ones are all glazed. Is it possible to remove unwanted windows? Steve
I worked as a caravan engineer. Till my pancreas decided to day itself. But you need any ideas help etc. I am vw nut. Lol always wanted a vs transporter or crafter. But now short of a miracle lol . I have Passat b5.5 fare spec currently parked up and a tiguan . Seriously if you need help of free advice ask.
Really great group. There people on there actually want to help. It makes a refreshing change from the bitching and keyboard warriors on a lot of the Transporter FB groups.
The 3.5t maximum gross weight must include the driver, any fuel when checked, equipment and tools, luggage, and the instal your talking about. You probably talking about 200kg for you, your wife and 2 kids, plus 80litres of fuel, that’s another 80kg. Additional seats and or bed conversion, worktops, etc etc. Your gonna be way way over weight by the time your family is on board and your loaded ready to take a trip. Hope I’m wrong but doing basic math says you need to take around 300kg off your weighbridge guess of 1060kg. Leaving you 760kg to build and insulate it before battery’s or stored / tanked water..... Following to see what happens. Why didn’t you go for the CR50 ?
Yep that’s correct. I didn’t go for the CR50 as I didn’t want twin rear wheels. I also know I can get this re-classified and I have a C1 licence is it’s not an issue.
I following with interest, crafter was the rout I was going to take for our camper project.
It should be worth a follow 😊
You won't regret getting the Maxi size, I guarantee it. 🤩 Going to be great watching this space.. 👍
After plotting it out, I’m pleased I made the mistake. Weight is going to be the main issue though.

Yeah our delivery van is a 140BGP and that seems to be plenty powerful. This is the 177bhp as I look forward to taking it on a longer run to try
Always wanted to see one of these dropped on 20”
Watch this space 😉

@@THQAutomotive such is life Andy, will just have to stick to notifications from socials! 😁 Russ
Just over a tonne to play with ? Thats going to be pretty tight m8! I’m looking forward to this as this would be my dream camper 👍🏻
It is isn’t it 🤦🏻♂️ we’ll see what we can do.
That looks cool, looking forward to following the build.
We’ll try and keep the updates coming
That's mahoosive!!
Yep 😳

yes thats the plan if we go over. The only issues is the Class 1 licence you need. It will limit who can drive it.

They put an error lights on the dash of a T6.1, we have a new resistor on route to try.
@@THQAutomotive Great! Sign me up as soon as those hit the shelves.

Yeah and fuel economy. I have the licence for one (because I’m old) but none of the other team do.
Don’t put a bed in until you have looked FLARESPACE rear side extenders it will give you a side elevation bed 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
They don’t work with LWB or Maxi.
Why will it not fit ??? Give it to Dan chambers , he will get them to fit Guaranteed 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😉😉😉😉
@@clivemillington8452 Its to do with the pillar placement. We aren't going for a fix bed system in this one anyway :)
That is a big 3.5gvw van.
Sure is 😳
What happened to the electric T6.1 build?
COVID slowed it down a lot. It is happening though.

Sorry to hear that 😔 Thanks, drop me an email so I have a contact andy@transporterhq.co.uk
The links will not let me go on to Dan's channel for some reason but is that Dan Chambers?
Yeah Dan Chambers. Search Dan & Abi to find their crafter channel.
@@THQAutomotive thanks I follow Dan's channel so now I have also added Dan&Abi's channel
Wouldn’t work for me either 🤷🏼♂️
I've updated the links now sorry. That should work.

Cheaper than a high spec new T6.1
