Thing is, what's even metalcore anymore?? Nowadays it feels like just an umbrella term for "contemporary", modern metal and like the scene has lost its identity in lots of ways. There's many bands finding moderate success by being unique but you can clearly see patterns of trendchasing and "poptimistic" tendencies that are gonna sound dated as fck in 5 years time or less.

Breakdown with long snare reverb with tired 2005 "how to scream" UA-cam tutorial vocals and a cracked version of ezdrummer.

Modern metalcore is basically pop music

Really wish the old school dissonant, creative metalcore made a comeback, it's like a completely different genre

First and second wave was amazing back when metalcore sounded like Converge n shit 💯

When I was still touring (early 2000s), I found my creativity somewhat stifled while on this "big moving thing," i.e., tours. Everyone on the package was in a similar boat: broke, no real personal space, unhealthy food and substances, strained relationships back home, etc. The way I did it wasn't healthy, for me, and I imagine a lot of people in bands today experience similar challenges. Not saying it's new, or that others haven't thrived in those settings. Just that genuine creativity seems to come to me in moments of personal space and quite reflection. All that said, there are always going to be "yes men/women" who are happy to take on someone else's (the label's got you covered, homie) material just to get their stadium jam... Which do you want?
Love the channel. Having Mike on from MxPx was a genuine treasure. Cheers.

I knew as soon as Lorna Shore went viral that the underground would be choked by thousands of NPC clones for another 5 years. Metalcore had run it's course and here we go again. Yawn.

I mean, they're not wrong. Where's the new System Of A Down? Korn? Deftones? Even shit people didn't like in the mid 2000s like Creed and Staind, there's absolutely zero equivalent to any of these bands now. The stuff released now makes these bands look like geniuses, you didn't used to be able to say that. They were all super popular and made long lasting music. There's no passion or creativity in anything now. It has nothing to do with old people yelling at a cloud, it's real.

@@dannygibson2597because the more talented artists realized that metalcore is solved and moved to different genres, i.e. emo rap, trap metal, deathstep, etc..Theres very little more that can be done with it metalcore. We get it. You like pitch harmonics and drop D. Is that it?

@@hamm8934metalcore is nowhere near to be fully explored lol. A bunch of bands are exploring different ways..
New northlane & Thornhill exploring drum'n'bass and eletronics
      Loathe bringing deftones/shoegaze moments
      Currents with deathcore heavy blending
Malevolence mixing metalcore with sludge and 90s southern groove metal
Harms way mixing metalcore with 90s industrial metal

So many things going on dude lol

@@RibeiroGames12 I dont mean this in a rude way, but all of those examples are a perfect example of what im talking about. These are differences that are sub 5% different from the generic metalcore blueprint. The only way you can think these are all that different is because youre so deep down the metalcore rabbit hole that you can notice these differences.
Again, not being rude, but this is exactly what im talking about. Metalcore has been solved. These are minor movements of the needle. This is in comparison to newer genres like trap metal or emo rap which moved the sonic needle significantly.
