- Encounters with orcas, also known as killer whales, have been on the rise since 2020. New research suggests that older Orcas may be training the young on how to hunt, but not all scientists agree. NBC News' Josh Lederman set sail to learn more about these incidents.

Maybe whales are trying to use limited communication to tell humans to stop doing what we do. Cannot wait for better communication so we can learn more.

I think the longer these attacks go on, the greater the probability that a sailboat crew will communicate with those Orcas, in the form of high velocity projectiles.

Oh these incidents could end very quickly. All it will take is one sailboat skipper who is unwilling to have his vessel sunk, and who has access to a rifle. Human tolerance in the face of these ongoing attacks has been extraordinary.
It’s their ocean for crying out loud. That’s like someone going into YOUR house and then getting mad at you for not wanting them in your house. Why do men think they have the right to everything on this earth?
@@michelesiger6890 Who said it's their ocean? They don't have an exclusive right to use the oceans of the world. Countless creatures call the ocean home or subsist off it's resources. That includes humans for tens of thousands of years. I think all the creatures who need the oceans to survive should use it in harmony together. Including humans. Besides as was pointed out in the video the Tuna population is booming. Plenty of food for the Orcas.
Orcas are a highly intelligent species. Sentient in fact. They are so intelligent they believe the reason they don't attack us is because they understand how intelligent and dangerous we are. We need to recognize the same in kind. If we start shooting them they are smart enough to start killing humans in kind. Lets not escalate this into a human orca war. Even though we would win that war it would still be a terrible loss for all. And this over some damaged boats? I don't think so.
