- This video demonstrates how to calculate Cronbach’s alpha in Excel compared to the calculation in SPSS. Cronbach’s alpha is a measure of internal consistency. It is used to measure scale reliability.
Thank you so much Dr. Grande! I have ran out of the free trials for SPSS and I can only use excel. You really helped me a lot with the video!
This is really helpful. I have recently started pursuing Business Analytics & for any doubts when I search around, I land on your videos !! Thanks..
You're a star Todd. Doing my coursework this weekend.. thanks for great explanation to help consolidate my MSc learning so far X
Cronbach's Alpha would be useful application for data analysis. Being able to understand the consistencies between items in a set is significant.
Thank you so much for sharing! This helps ppl like me a lot, who doesnt have statistics learning background!
this is so helpful esp for online class! statistics is such a pain in the ass.
Thank you so much, I was totally stumped on how to calculate this for class project observational research study
very useful. Thanks. Those who don't have SPSS can do it on Excel
Great video! Just learning about Cronbach's Alpha and will need to know how to apply it as the semester progresses.
I'm glad you found the video helpful - thank you for watching -
Thank you soooooo much!! I was struggling with excel since I don't have SPSS and this was more than helpful :)
You're welcome, thanks for watching -
Great help! Thanks Alot
note: in description add link How to compute it by equation

very useful and to the point, thanks
Hello Dr. Grande, by any chance, do you have an instruction for calculating Cronbach's Alpha using Excel 2011 (Mac Version), your video is easy to follow but the functions or the placements of its functions is different from Windows version and Mac version, thank you in advance!
Excellent. Thanks.
Thank you Todd!
Thanks very much Dr. It is very helpful. Much appreciated

This is a lifesaver. Thank you so much
Thank you so much really very informative, May I ask you Dr Todd to show us how to calculate confidence interval in excel for the survey? Thank you
Thank you for the video, it's very helpful but I have a question.
My questionnaire was constructed as people didn't have to answer all the questions, so I have gaps in the data.
I tried to do what you showed in the video, but it didn't work in the Excel. Do you have maybe any idea how can I solve this problem?
really helpful.. thank you
This has saved me a lot of time! it is so easy to understand, thank you so much!! I have a question tho, I need to get the alpha of a psychometric test that the answers are yes, no and I don't know, how should i assign values to them? please help :(
Thank you for the video. Very helpful
You're welcome!
Thanks for the easy explanation! Is it always MSerror/MSrow? Or does it change to MSerror/MScolom if your testsubjects are portrayed in the coloms? :)
This is very helpful - thank you! I have one question: The output yields two P-values: one for rows and one for columns. For rows, it is stating significance btw A1, B1, C1, etc. And for columns it is stating significance of A1, A2, A3, etc.... Is that correct?
Thank you so much, massive help!

Awesome! thanks bro~
It was really helpful!!! Thank you!

I have a doubt in cronbatch's alpha test in excel, could you clarify it?
What about if you get a mean sqaure rows value as zero. What will you do?
Thanks so much. Then if we want a table where how each item in a questionnaire affect the alpha, we need to delete one row at a time and do the calculation again??
I would like to say thank u for aver all.
Thank you for this video. In my case i have the problem, that i only have 2 items. How do i get crombachs alpha now?
Thanks! Very helpful

Hi sir we have the same problem with Mr./Ms. The Animals of..... How about if the data was based on achievement score, how we input our the data?
Really? that easy?? Yessss!!!
is there any manual calculation for cronbach's alpha??
I am a ug student and I am doing a research using brief cope scale...I want to analyse it...can u plz explain the point of finding cronbachs alpha if u don't mind..
Hello Dr. Grande. If the numeric data in our data set represent ordered categories, do we still use this procedure for analyzing Cronbach's alpha?
thank you so much!
Dear Sir, thanks for this super video! I have doubt. I have 10 questions using a Likert scale with 150 responses. The Likert scale is 1,2,3 or 4 for each response. Can I use the same method to find the alpha as mentioned in this video? THANKS AGAIN!
Cronbach's alpha was pretty much made with the Likert scale in mind so yeah, by all means you can use this method.
Great help!
I am glad you found this video helpful, thanks for watching -
How to calculate internal consistency of items on excel?
Thanks a million!
You're welcome, thanks for watching -
hi sir, what if my test isn't a likert scale it's just achievement tests so basically it's just right or wrong....how do I get my values for each column/row? badly need your help! :(
i am not a professional but i would use the regression method and put 0 for wrong and 1 for right and i would get the correlation concerning a certain goal value. besides you should consult some literature since the best method to use depends on the case you are looking at.
what do we write in variable view ?
amazing thanks a bunch!!
You're welcome!
