I can not remember where I bought it, have a exacto knife like holder that came with a roll of thin shim stock. This is used like the scalpel in the video but is more flexible and solder does not stick to the shim. I like it because the shim can be cut with jewelers snips to a nice shape to get under various components. Very good educational video, up-voted!
We are watching some serious soldering skills there, and the video quality is the icing on the cake...Can i ask you what microscope (?) you used to shoot this video? You use it all the time or you solder with just naked eye? thank you!
What i like to do is bend a wire hook from very thin wire with lacquer coating, get it around the pin, pull the short end out more with tweezers, heat and pull the loop out (on both ends) under the pin. The coated wire will pull out the solder bridge from under the pin and lift it a bit at the same time. This technique is more finicky, but works in places where you can't get the scalpel blade in.
Great video.spent quite a bit of time rewiring prototype boards by lifting pins. Nice technique. Would love to see a video on how to remove a dual stack laptop dimm memory sockets. They have hundreds of pins in 4 rows. I think this method of braid may work for a few rows and maybe copper wire / hot air to finish up Thanks for the great help. Adding solder mask or kapton tape under the sot 23/223 when the part is off also helps reduce the amount the pin needs to be bent, or even removing the pad if a wire is to be added to the package
Your videos have been a huge help improving my soldering skills. I was wondering if you have a video covering removal and hand soldering of a 30-40-50 pin ribbon cable to pcb, ie an LCD connection to the driver module. Any input or wisdom will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the video!
Awesome guide as usual! Can you do a gear video? I am still looking for a good cheap microscope. Prices are vastly different, and turns out some are not good for hot air, they get damaged by the heat. Thanks!
Hi , thank you for your comment . I just like the Brazilian flags colours , they go so well with soldering pcb's . Also I use to love watching Ronaldinho play football , the best ever . Thanks for asking , take care 👍
I have been soldering for 50 years, and still enjoy your videos. Thank you.

@@mrsolderfix3996 Did you have any videos on what soldering station you recommend? Or if you didn't is there at least a brand you like to stick with?
Excellent instructional video, thanks for sharing.
Thanks, great video

Great video and soldering tutorial.
Which microscope camera do you use?
Thanks so much.
Love watching your videos. Learning heaps. What sort of microscope would you recommend to a beginner?

hi mr solder fix. How can I contact you about an issue?
💯💯✌✌

I'm Brazilian and I was curious why you use the Brazilian flag on your banner.
