What is the will of God for you?
Believe me. With a bent toward doubt, this question hits home.
But believe me, too, when I say that through the now 3+ decades of gradually coming to know my God more and more, this question is not as daunting as it once was.
Through the years, I recall conversations with those who seem to either 1) "mystify" God's will by mostly speaking of the Christian life in less-defined terms (such as "walking with God") while at the same time breaking clear commands of Scripture, or 2) who view God's will as a pre-paved road out of thousands that is distinctly and only His perfect path for you. Frankly, neither of those seem to adequately weigh in on the relationship we've come to have as a child of God. His moral will (His standard of holiness) never changes. However, speaking of His specific will in a believer's life choices, God is neither trying to trick us nor does He present His will as an iron-clad, unalterable, "right path" from which any veering would find us "out of His will". From His vantage point, yes, someday all will work out just precisely as He planned (Isaiah 46:10). From our vantage point though, I'm learning how to flesh out Proverbs 3:6 -- acknowledge Him humbly, then take a step! God assures us that He will direct us on the right path. And, God is even big enough to redeem sinful choices to accomplish His will! (Genesis 50:20)
Further, I've grown in my understanding of what God really wants from me. Some days, I feel like a spiritual all-star simply because of the visible "good works" I was able to roll out. (We won't talk about all the people I had to trample to accomplish said tasks!) Contrary to what I may expect, at the top of God's to-do list for me is conformity to Jesus Christ (Romans 8:29) and glorifying God by producing fruit that only He could produce through me (John 15) no matter what my hands or feet may "accomplish" for Him.
Sure, there are still issues that hit me square in the heart that I want closure on: "Is this (fill in the blank) really the will of God in my life?" Or "How in the world do I apply this verse in this very complicated situation?" Or how about this: "I just wish Jesus could come over for coffee and just lay it all out there for me... step. by. step. Then I'd know what God's will is for me!"
Truth is, I have all I need to know His will -- His Word and His indwelling Spirit to help me understand it. The bigger issue now is: Am I willing to submit my will to His will?
A while back, I began a good starter list for what I know to be "the will of God". Reviewing this song brings fresh conviction each time!

I love this song. It is so full of helpfulness and wisdom. I love all of H. Schopf's music. I will be purchasing a CD soon so I can hear this in the car when I have to run my disabled daughter to school occasionally - 42 minutes away. She and I can be filled with beautiful God honoring music as we ride along. Makes the ride seem shorter!

Heather, I thank GOD for your beautiful spirit and for this gift to us all, but I feel it is a gift sent this morning from The Heart of GOD to me. I listened closely to the lyrics and each one truly IS "The will of GOD." I will need to listen to this song at least 15 more times and perhaps daily for a long while, to get these truths deep in my spirit. I can't even thank you enough!! GOD bless you with more rich Scripture songs which are powerful, active, alive, and sharp as a two-edge sword, praise GOD!

You have no idea how The Lord has led me to this song, today.
Had to come back and fill in some blanks. I was sexually assaulted when I was 14 by a family friend. I'm now 55, and my life has grown around that event like a tree trunk grows around and envelopes what has manually been placed in it. I've wanted to confront this man all my life and always stopped short. I heard this song on BBN radio here in High Point, NC and at first it was the harmonies that caught my attention. I called the station to find out who was singing and they pointed me to your website. When I listened to the song again, I was really convicted by the words, right from God's Word ... You desire truthfulness that comes from deep inside. I wrote a letter to my abuser that night and 3 days later I located his house, drove hours away, knocked on his door, read my letter, and got in my car and drove away, free. The consequences of his choices will never leave me, but my desire for revenge has. I told him I was forgiven by my good and gracious God and that I was extending that forgiveness to him. This ... this is the will of God. Thank you a hundred times over for this song of wisdom. ☝️❤

I often chuckle when I hear a young person ( or older person ) say they are searching for the will of God...when as your song indicates...The Word of God contains all that God desires for us to know. God does not wring his hands worrying that we will fall outside His will, because God always takes us back when we go outside His will. Your song comforts those who are outside God's will and those who want to be in God's will. Thank you again for wonderful words and A Capella music.
