I always prefer the original zerg design over SC2's chitinous and spiky design. Zerg buildings in the original have more exposed mucosa and tendrils, giving them an unpleasant appearance, which is exactly what zergs are supposed to be. SC2's design is still cool, but lacks that feeling of otherworldly horror.
zerg in sc2 seem a lot more dinosaur-ish? idk, they just aren't as creepy to me anymore, especially after playing HoTS but they're kinda badass in their own way
zerg units in sc2 are too much like insects and bugs to me. and overall sound design lacks creativity and bass. for ex. marines and tanks firing sound too bland. high tech weapon of such size should sound like thunder. same goes with zerg. ultralisk swinging its giant tusk shouldn't sound as if its a pair of scissors.
The Zergling and Hydralisk have always had really inconsistent designs, even within just the first game as it shipped. The remaster consolidates the sprite, portrait, and cinematic art for each into one design, and ends up totally perfecting both units.
If we ever see a SC3 - I hope they take the best of 1 & the good bits 2 brought & go from there. But to be honest, I could just go with an HD, mechanics and gameplay overhaul - and leave everything from 1 intact - most importantly the sounds - and just add SC2's units etc. Would be cool if you could have split tech tree builds - e.g Dawn of War Tau Empire.

Same goes with Terran in SC2 looking like plastics. They look like and gas stations while the look more spacial and metallic in SC1
they look more skeleton like in sc1.

I heard they switched sounds of Defiler Mound with Spire and they kept it this way. You can even hear Mustalisk cries when you click the Mound.
Yeah it was an accident and they didn’t noticed until after the release, then just left it
I thought the Hatchery and Hive had Zergs fleshy skin over it. Now It's lava
PapaKranianus normally it's fleshy, mine looks like lava because I preordered the game which gave me some different skins as you see here
@@kenw6047 Those are some cool skins!
@@kenw6047 damn it, that looks cool, sadly is only a preorder bonus

What about Overmind and Cerebrates?
And to think that every zerg building is in fact a Drone ;)
Yep! I just wanna shout out, well drone!
Thanks for doing a concise, easy to navigate video!
