      How is that? What horse do you take out of the top 10. You might check out horse racing nation has him ranked 238th all time. He is no where close to being a top 20 horse much less top 10

      @@mikewarren1401Ghostzapper, Flightline, and Arrogate were more talented than some of the top ten horses for sure. They deserve to be in there outside of the top 4. Sunday Silence is number 11. I love Sunday Silence so much, but he was never going to beat any of these horses. Having Arrogate that low on the list is absurd. He’s also proving that he would have been one of the best sires ever.
      Correction: Horse racing nation has Arrogate at 19 and Ghostzapper at 18. That is a bit better, but they still would have beaten some of those ahead of them at their best.

      @SSN862 Рік тому +1

      @silvereyedstacker1842 while I agree Ghostzapper, Flightline, and Arrogate are all immensely talented and probably as talented as some of the greatest racehorses in history, their careers were not enough to be placed anywhere near the top 10 racehorses. Simply put the three horses you mentioned had the talent to be all time greats, but lacked the careers to be considered all time greats. Go look at the careers of horses like Kelso, Forego, Native Dancer, Citation, Man o War, Spectacular Bid, Dr. Fager, Buckpasser, Tom Fool, Colin, Damascus, Round Table, Cigar, Swaps, Exterminator, Equipoise, John Henry, and Whirlaway to name a few. Round Table for example raced 66 times over just 4 years of racing and won 43 of those races! He set or equaled 15 speed records! He set records on grass and dirt! He carried extremely heavy weights and had little time off between races. I believe he still holds the record for the fastest 1 1/4 miles run on dirt for a 3 year old. And as great as Round Table was he isn't even considered in the top 15 greatest racehorses in America for the 20th century alone! I mean seriously how can Ghostzapper, Flightline, or Arrogate beat that with their short careers? Sure they had the talent but their accomplishments are a drop in the bucket compared to some of these other horses. And I literally just mentioned American racehorses. There are other races from other countries that are as good or even better than the horses I mentioned above. And I didn't even come close to mentioned all the great horses for America. I mean sure Ghostzapper was freaky talented, but I don't see how he is much more than a less accomplished and more fragile version of Dr. Fager if you get what I mean. I don't see how Flightline is anything more than a freak of nature that had six races where he showed glimpses of greatness but actually accompished very little. And as much as I love Arrogate he didn't accomplish much except in his 4 race win streak that was incredible. Arrogates 4 race win streak was as an impressive 4 races as you will ever see, but then he wasn't the same horse after. Bob Baffert said himself that Arrogate is the most talented horse he has ever trained. But you have to admit that American Pharaoh accomplished more in his short career than Arrogate did in his, and will therefore be ranked higher than Arrogate and will be remember for longer, despite the fact that Bob Baffert said Arrogate was more talented. Long story short is that talent does not equal greatness or accomplishments. You could have the most talented horse in the history of horse racing, but if the horse only races 3 times there is absolutely no way that horse could compare to the best racehorses of that decade, let alone the greatest racehorses ever.

Horse racing would recapture its past glory if the hero horse stayed around for a good 4 or 5 years - they're gone too soon in the modern era.

AND Arrogate found that higher gear at the last second thanks to his jockey left hand slap THEN right hand slap to shock Arrogate to scoot him and it worked to pass Chrome. OMG......what a GREAT race. Chrome ran a GREAT race and gave Arrogate a work out trying for this win. LOL good job Chrome. Good job Arrogate. That was a great race. No shame in passing on the baton to Arrogate, Chrome. Now CC is retired and the show is all Arrogates. Money means nothing. Accomplishments is what we want to see Arrogate earn. AND HE CAN if Bob B lets him. I hope BB doesn't hide him now from the public. We all grew up loving ALL these fantastic athletic TB's sires...and dams. But the sires.......WOW. NOW we see their kids out here...Chrome, Frosted, RIDE ON CURLIN, Arrogate...their Sires were TOPS and so is their pedigree's. YES, even Chromes. We know they lose some and win many more. It's watching these Kids perform is what we want. Can't get enough of. This has been a fantastic two years of racing. WOW.

    The people who blame Victor Espinoza for the loss fail to understand that the reason he was looking around was that the pace was so loose and easy there was not much else to do.
    For Arrogate to overcome 8 weeks off, first vs. older horses, the HOTY getting a modest, favorable, frankly extremely effortless pace was stunning.
    Today Arrogate drew the rail while Chrome drew Post 12 for the Pegasus World Cup. I do not see Chrome turning the table on Arrogate on 01/28/17.
    Arrogate will defeat California Chrome once again in the Pegasus, absolutely no question about it.

    • @RedBev59

      Victor was looking "for a race.....for competition". Was none until Arrogate broke loose. What a race. GREAT "send off race" for Chrome too. He and Arrogate ran FAST numbers. whooooweeeee. Chromes awesome. I hated to see him retire BUT we need his babies out there. He's from old stock, sound strong stock. Can race years, fly anywhere with no problem to race. We need more of that so we can watch the same horses for at least 4 or 5 years. They disappear too fast to retire now. He raced from age 2 to age 6 like in the old days. You don't see that anymore. Anyway, he has handed the baton over to Arrogate so at least we get so start the new year with watching a thrilling horse. Arro will be a BEAST at age 4 and 5.

    • @RedBev59
      @RedBev59 6 років тому

      YUP, Arrogate did defeat CC and others but CC already retired and it didn't much matter. Chrome ran straight a whole year and won ALL his races, including two in Dubai winning the DWC and his prep race there... all but the BCC.....as far as Arrogate...he burnt out in the Pegasus. I'm shocked at that because he's a son of Unbridleds Song.....they go on pure horse power. Unless they played around with steroids , Arrogate just couldn't handle traveling overseas and never came back after his DWC win. Wish we had more years watching him but one year will have to do. I hope CC and Arrogate throw some fine kids out there.

Espinoza screwed up he let Arrogate close the gap before the stretch because he was so worried and was looking around instead of taking a peak and going straight and push Chrome all the way through the finish line. He also changed his whip late so Chrome let up at the last 100ft before taking off again, but it was too late. If Espinoza doesn't look around keeps that 3 length lead and whips him without switching hands all the way down the stretch without easy up he wins easy. With that kind horse and a 3 or 4 length lead its inexcusable that he lost. He may have done it on purpose he owes Baffert a favor or two.

    2016 BC Classic Entries... EVERY Thoroughbred are decedents of Northern Dancer.
    The 'Dancers stud fee started at $10,000 fee in 1965 for alive foal. When he retired at the age of 26 (1987) mare owners paid $1 million for a breeding, without any guarantee. Unheard of even today, more then 30 years later.
    Today the question is not if a race horse has Northern Dancer in its pedigree, but if does NOT have it. He has sired a total of 146 stakes winners.

      listen to Chrome's trainer. He said "he ran his eyeballs out, and jsut got beat on the day"
      Pace was not easy, not for Chrome, who ran his fastest race in his lifetime. Just wasn't good enough for the better colt Had Chrome run faster early, he'd have been passed at the top of the stretch.

    • @josephfederico5165
      @josephfederico5165 7 років тому +3

      I disagree. Chrome ran a great race. Honest fractions, not too slow nor fast. He was stretching his stride at the end and trying to keep Arrogate at bay, which he did for a while. The better horse on the day won. It takes absolutely nothing away from Chrome. Next time they lock horns, let's hope in the Pegasus, they might run in the reverse order. Songbird lost for the 1st time and under Mike Smith. Let's blame him too for his filly running her eyeballs out and losing in the last bob of a head.

    • @joeneary1
      @joeneary1 7 років тому +1

      Joseph Federico 1/4 slow, 1/2 slow. he ran his eye balls out in the last half of the last 1/4 mile. Victory looks left and didn't see anyone and thought he had in the bag. By that time Mike Smith was up his butt and it was all over. they could have won that great race.

    • @josephfederico5165
      @josephfederico5165 7 років тому +4

      How did Victor blow the race with those "slow" fractions? Sounds like good strategy to me and he unleashed him down the stretch with Chrome responding well. Makes no sense unless you're of the mindset that all other things being equal Arrogate is the better horse and Chrome need to "steal" the race on the lead.

    • @jmeryllman
      @jmeryllman 7 років тому +3

      Chrome ran his best race for his lifetime, that with VE riding. He simply lost to a better horse. No excuse needed here.

  • @georgording4401

    for my opinion California Chrom got only beaten by his rider. He was looking around in the begining of the home run and unbalanced his horse in a big way loosing at least 2 to 4 lenght. If he would make him go directly not sure how would be the winner.
    But there is one fact for sure to autstanding horses fighted in a tremendous style and both need to honored

    • @RedBev59
      @RedBev59 7 років тому +1

      Arrogate won the BCC over Chrome by half a length.....bit more than a neck. Where do you get 2 to 4 lengths? FINALLY there is a horse as good as Chrome. Chrome raced hard all year. Won two in Dubai, came home to USA and continued winning in the Awesome again, Pacific classic etc, so in the BCC.....I KNEW he wouldn't be 100% which he should have been. Not an excuse. just facts. Bob B would have rested Arrogate BEFORE that BCC which is an important race in the USA. WELL, they NEVER rest Chrome. It's amazing Chrome accomplished all he did accomplish. It's a darn miracle he won so many prestigious races while being soooo tired. They didn't drug CC either. Chrome is amazing. STRONG heart for sure. LOL They pushed CC hard. Owners did. Shermans and Raul are the only ones who kept CC together. geezuz. Arrogate was fresh and well rested for the Bcc. So....in MY EYES.....the better horse was.......Chrome for holding off Arrogate all the way down the home stretch as long as he did after racing straight out all year. Really. . He's a fantastic race horse/ Chrome. He gives every race all he's got. And don't go calling me a Chromie. I am a fan of a great horse like Chrome and will admit it. AND Kudo's to Arrogate too. BUT we're waiting to see him run a few in a row , get tired, then race THE BEST IN AMERICA. LOL Which we know Bob B wouldn't DO to his horses. HE rests them. SMART GUY. HEY, I'm glad CC is retired. AMEN. Making close to $15million.....that horse from NO WHERE as people think.......sure did just fine. HE is laughing to this day all the way to the bank while you people cut him up. LOL LOL LOL LOL etc etc.

    • @georgording4401
      @georgording4401 7 років тому

      hello redbev59 I think you did not got me. I was pointing that CC was losing this race by a mistake of
      his jockey. he was wondering around coming in to the home straight. it shows really good in the video howCC got unbalanced for about 50m. that cost him his first speed.
      I was pointing that, if he would have kept and mad him got at the right spot I'm pretty sure he would be the winner.
      As a retired jockey I'll know how it turns out when you bring your horse to late and even worse unbalance it.
      So my conclusion was that CC should have won the race.
      Still both horses are outstanding and real champions

    • @perryellis1423
      @perryellis1423 5 років тому

      Victor lost this race plain n simple.
      California Chrome was robbed by his headless jockey..who i believe threw the race..
      to me this race was fixed..
      and on a side note California Chrome won the horse of the year that same season he "lost" to Aarogate.

    • @perryellis1423
      @perryellis1423 5 років тому

      one thing i find funny is how distorted this video is..especially when showing California chrome in the lead approaching the turn..Jockey victor espiniza looks back at least 8-10 times!!! he lost momentum of California chrome and "lost" by a half.. any jockey or trainer or horseman will tell you that when you look back on a horse you lose momentum because you are not riding with the horse..you are riding against the horse.. so victor hampered chrome and allowed arrogate to win.
      aka the fix was in
