Yes. Don't mess with it, you don't want it operating near empty.
Oh, by the way; PAM doesn't actually require a cockpit; Well, it -does-, technically, but the Remote Control satisfies the requirement. An human-usable cockpit is nice for if you want to use the ship, too, but what you were building initially would have worked just fine :)

Hello with PAM Script you can put the LCD command into your cockpit ex : "Cockpit [PAM:1]" , instead of put it into an lcd in front of your line of sight 😉

This video popped up in my feed today and it was pretty good so I'll be watching the next one too. As a suggestion if you are ripping out the large cargo to replace with a large hydrogen tank then replace the 4 small hydrogen tanks with small cargo containers.

There's a "Projections To Assembler" mod in the workshop that comes in handy with bigger ships.

Love this series, loving the micro welder ship; so many SE vids are Creative Lite where they skip building their tools!
When building conveyed internals do you think it would make sense to run a conveyor line to the ship network then temporarily replace the last conveyor with a welder to deliver all the components? I'd think with building Refineries and Large Reactors, for example, that would save you *so* much time conveying that many Components.
Unfortunately the component line would be the landing pad which is quite far
