Blame cartoon network for making Override female because they wanted diversity between male bots and female bots. So i guess that Airazor and Override are LGBTQ+ icons
For those wondering, BW Transmetal Airazor was the first Transformers toy designed as female from the start. Edit: Whoops, I forgot BW Blackarachnia was a deluxe back in 96/97. Transmetal Airazor is first mold designed to be a female character since Blackarachnia was a repaint/remold of Deluxe Tarantulas. Blackarachnia is also the first female Transformer sold in the US.
I really wish they would give us a new version of this character! She is so cool! There's a lot of female character who never get any sort of recognition from Hasbro. It's always Arcee and Windblade or, sometimes, some form of spider lady. I was pretty impressed we got Chromia at all. I want a new Override and new Thunderblast! The Thrilling 30 line would have been a good time for some Cybertron hommages. Heck we didn't even get a Evac repaint of the Alpha Bravo mold :p
Ryan Bartido I know, and I'm hyped for that figure since I want a version of the design that can stand, and it only just occurred to me but we might get a leobreaker that doesn't look awful in arm mode!
What makes the automorph feature funny it's that it does fit into Override's theme of being a speedster and what's more fitting then having her transformation be quick?
You seemed to have forgotten about BW Blackarachnia, TM Airazor, FOX Kids TM Airazor, BM Blackarachnia, BM Strika, Armada Airazor, Universe Blackarachnia, Universe Nemesis Strika and Universe Crystal Widow (as part of an exclusive two pack), So basically Blacharachnia, Airazor, Strika, technically Crystal Widow and even BM Triceradon (on a technicality after the fact) all beat her to the punch being deluxe female transformers releaased at retail. There's probably a few other gender swapped characters as well like BM Triceradon.
@@OptimusPhillip Indeed. However I think I was going specifically for the size class when I made this comment. It's been a few years. Otherwise we'd have to add Freezon from the Tyco RC track set as the first female Transformer at retail. There's also several figures I didn't mention from the basic and mega size classes like Airazor, TM2 Sonar and TM2 Blackarachnia.
This was my first and only Deluxe class figure in the Cybertron generation. She was part of what introduced me to the Transformers line. Funnily enough, after playing with her a while I eventually lost the Cyber Key she came with, so I just pried the little guns out myself!
The statement about all speed planet cars had clear tires, was going to say false with Dirt Boss (can say it about Megatron, but he is not a speed planet resident). Pulled Dirt Boss out and I was wrong, thought he had black tires. I hadn't really every stopped to noticed all their tires before. I admit to, that I watched Galaxy Force first and then Cybertron and did the "But Override is a dude, what, huh, whatever then".
To be fair though, TJ, Thunderblast already has a perfect Elita-1 head sculpt so it kinda makes sense. Plus the design is somewhat Arcee in its feminine proportions...
I had to come here for the comparison. I have to say, the vehicle mode here looks way better proportionally. A lot more aggressive and sleek looking compared to the Legacy that looks closer to the retro-future aesthetic of the 1950s. I think if the Legacy version had a less bulbous canopy and changed where the feet connect to the leg to hide that ugly post, the vehicle would look closer to the original toy.
Are you selling this one? Or would it be possible to just get the Gold Cyber Keys from you? I mainly just want the Keys for Primus' Omega Lock. I know I don't need them but I'm just tired of seeing the Omega Lock sitting there empty so I'd like to get the four keys that were intended to go in it's slots. I did see Override at a yard sale a while back. Did not realize she had that Automorph gimmick. I thought the toy was broken. Plus the key was missing and that's the main part I wanted. As for the whole Elita-One thing, I don't see how her head looks like Elita-One at all. They used Thunderblast for her because that head sculpt is an exact match for Elita-One.
Leg tabs are fragile. Automorph is too sensitive. Hip joints go loose very quickly. Otherwise, I love the design. An old favorite of mine that needed more comprehensive QC
I remember wanting this figure when I was twelve. I nearly bought it in EBay recently until I realized the more I looked at her/him the worse he/she got.
still makes me wonder how Hasbro saw Nitro Convoy as a female, i managed to catch the debut episodes of Galaxy Force back in the day & never even think how feminine his design is, to me he's just built like a typical anime mecha with a super robot bishounen face.
"It was the mid-2000s; we had better paint budget back then." Yeah, because Hasbro didn't run about 50,000 different toy imprints back then. If they cut out the movie junk, Generations and the TV tie-ins would fair a LOT better.
That doesn't exactly mean things will automatically improve if they did that. Kids aren't into toys much anymore and not to mention budget's taken a huge toll on many toy companies nowadays so even if they cut out the movies it wouldn't at all make the situation Transformers in in in terms of paint budget any better. Whatever you like the TF movies or not there's no denying that they helped put Transformers in a much better spot compared to other brands like He Man and Thundercats in terms of exposure and being able to give us the updates in Generations that beforehand wouldn't think it was possible.
Unfortunately she has the kind of Cyber Key gimmick I always hated. The point of the keys were to unlock extra weapons and powers to go along with the standard armaments. This one means the character needs the key to unlock their ONLY weapon. It's not 'tap into the power of our god for better weapons", its "tap into the power of our god because I don't have a weapon unless I do".
You know, a lot of people frequently ask you to review a good armada toy, because everyone knows how generally crappy the line was, but there still were quite some good figures, such as blurr, thrust wheeljack, demolishor, cyclonus, bendy prime as well as sideways. However, to my knowledge, armada is not the worst transformers line, so I challenge you to review a good star wars crossovers transformer, as in my opinion, that is the #1 worst transformers line, armada coming in second
I no longer own any Star Wars Transformers, though I at one time had Yoda that's regarded to be the one good figure of the line. I felt like Animorphs and Built To Rule made for much worse toys than Star Wars Crossovers.
Oh, well, yeah, I absolutely forgot about animorphs and BTR... you're right, they're even worse than crossovers, anyway, I just thought of giving you a suggestion, thanks for your reply)
Wireless_Phantom Hmm, i can't seem to find anything on a silver variant. Might be the gold paint rubbing off to reveal silver underneath or even a knockoff.
While it makes sense that transformers from Cybertron would have cockpits and seats, due to the whole, enslaved by the quintessons and what not, why would transformers from Velocitron have cockpits and seats? That just doesn't make any sense.
Great review brother!!! I always liked the look of She? He? It? The partially auto transformation never bothered me and I agree I always thought of Elita One with this figure. I think overall this is a fun interesting looking figure. I just think it's unfortunate that young kids who were able to figure out the background of the character were introduced to such messed up and disgusting concepts at a young age...
Hey TJOmegs, it has been years since you uploaded your last plastic addic episode, and if you've ran out of ideas, how about reviewing every beast machines toy, armada devastator, and g2 Megatron. Trust me, these piles of plastic shit have been long overdue for their own plastic addic episodes.
It's not a matter of ideas, it's a matter of real life preventing me from having the time. Beast Machines had good toys, Armada didn't have a Devastator (you mean Scavenger, who is iffy), and G2 Megatron was fine for when it came out, G2 was just G1 repaints then so that Megatron was functionally like the others. It's not that easy to pick a video subject.
TJ i know you love cybertron as your favorite toyline but jeeez.. so many cool designs but so many compromises that make the toys just wasted potential.. the biggest of these being wasted is starscream with those horrible arms with the elbow at the forearms.. this is why im glad hasbro heads the design releases because as takara has shown with transformers go and more recently godbomber.. yeah.. people give hasbro way too much flak imho
Wow, even Transformers isn't immune to the "She's a Man in Japan" trope
Look up Airazor's japanese depiction.
"Some people are just like that" lol

Well you're in luck
I love this toys altmode but I hate the rest. This is one of the characters I really hope maketoys redoes.
Oh man, the day we get 3P Unicron Trilogy figures I'll be having a massive nostalgia trip.
It's already happening, mate. Take a look at Baltmatrix's review of MakeToys' Galaxy Meteor.
Maketoys already their cybertron prime. We're getting there.
Ryan Bartido I know, and I'm hyped for that figure since I want a version of the design that can stand, and it only just occurred to me but we might get a leobreaker that doesn't look awful in arm mode!
SilverHairedFreak Ohh yeahhhh, Howling Meteor completely overshadowed him in my memory. I'd still kill for a good Armada Starscream though!!
Speaking of Elita-1, the GTS version of this toy was repurposed into a Shattered Glass version of Elita-1.
Proportions, Override. Look into them.
Yes, I know she was originally a he, but even for a male character, that chest is way too huge.
And for a character that's supposed to be the leader of a speed planet, having a large, blocky torso isn't exactly speedy
Otaking Mikohani at least she's not a total block, like Energon Hot Shot or Titanium Megatron, but wow.
Yeah, like a voyager chest on a deluxe figure...that ain't right...
I could totally see her as the new Hot Rod character: "Arise, NITRO PRIME!"
HashbrownMashup we got nitro zeus
Well, Mastermind Creations retooled their IDW Rodimus into this fembot.
She is called nitro convoy
So its possible
What makes the automorph feature funny it's that it does fit into Override's theme of being a speedster and what's more fitting then having her transformation be quick?
Much like the RID Tow-Line mold, this is basically the engineering of an Animated Activators figure blown up to deluxe size...
This was the only one I didn't have of the leaders as a kid , well beside Megatron
I said so at the time, and still say so now, this mold would make a killer Batmobile/Batman DC/Transformers cross over toy
something funny, all these years later, with you talking about Elita-1's Car Mode in this is weirdly prophetic going by the the current toyline
Ah my first Cybertron figure. Bought it about twelve years and two weeks ago today.

*UPDATE! Guess who may or may not be getting a new figure?*
I have the GTS repaint, and I think I was able to get a full 360 out of her head. I don't know if I broke something, but nothing seemed off afterward.
This Autobot really reminds me of Endolf/Singe from Kyoryuger/Power Rangers Dino Charge.
This video was released on my Birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
Blackarachnia is sad that you forgot her.
Such an awesome vehicle mode betrayed by the transformation
I can't help but see a Cars type face in her alt mode that I just can't unsee.

tiny lil arms so cute😍😍

To be fair to FunPub though TJ, they DID use the Override GTS design for Shattered Glass Elita-1...
I think TJ likes the Velocitron Cyber Key because it looks like something Kamen Rider Accel would use
Swap out the head and that is clearly Elita-1
When I got her when I was younger her head couldn't move for some reason and her legs were SUPER loose. But not anymore
