what a great day. old red, the new step deck and a new wrecker. i love tow trucks. cant get enough. hal and the crew are fantastic people. great channel.
got to play with several of the toys that day....lol i really enjoy Sumter wrecker I believe your actually the one that turned me onto them, iv been meaning to give them a shoutout for a while.
I just built a '89 IH 1854 4x4 Wrecker to do Offroad Recovery work with. I LOVE these trucks !. They always start !! They are Slow and a Rough Ride, But are a "TUFF" Truck !! . Enjoy it !. P.S. love the Exhaust Stack !!.
At least one thing is for sure this will make good content for more videos. This will be like watching Ole Red coming back to life looking forward to seeing the videos of this Truck. It's been awhile since We have had any steady Truck videos for sometime now. Can't wait to watch what you do with this project hope it takes awhile so We can have lot's of good videos.
I've seen enough of North Dakota through your vids to know that I will not spend my retirement years there. Everything sux more and takes longer when it's cold.
The cold ❄️ is somewhat manageable for a Texan like me , but when cold and that wind get together, that's when the going gets tough... nearly freeze burned half my face off up in Dickinson about a month ago..lol
Beaver tail build is looking very solid. It’s pretty amazing that you are able to fab something like that up. I have to look up the video and watch it again. It’s great to see another truck being saved by your sheer will. Nice find EZ! Amazing condition for an old International. I think a recovery rig would be a nice addition to your tool box.
Nice wrecker! Can’t wait to see what you do with it. I definitely agree that Sumter Wrecker is a great channel and definitely should have a lot more subs! They should have at least 100K subs cause they have great content and great knowledge. I love their channel!
I've owned a few of this model wrecker units. I came to the conclusion they are more than a one ton anything frame wise will handle long run. As said, the one tons seem to bend the frame on the one tons right behind the cabin of the chevies I mounted them to.
Ezra, one time I saw an old wrecker in a local parade and on the back of the wrecker bed the gentleman had put a bumper sticker that said “old trucks are fun.”. I think you are showing that he was right.
That's an awesome International! It's funny you mentioned Sumter Wrecker, I just saw a few of their videos not too long ago, when searching for an old Show I use to watch on SPEED called "Wrecked" and I fell in love with those videos. I think I'll sub to them, I always forget. lol
Every time I see the inside of your shop, it makes me want to volunteer to build muscle Shoals around the perimeter of the shop. Just to get some of that stuff off the floor it’s my OCD kicking in.
I bought a IH S2155 (1982) about four years ago. The 2155 was built as a tractor but was later converted into a dump flat bed. Had to rebuild the front cab supports and floor on both sides. There was nothing left to hold the dog house tight. All the same issues you have with a old IH. By the time I was done it was a pretty solid truck. The oldies are fun to work on. (My memory my ust be failing):) Thanks for the video!
Please make a bunch of videos on fixing everything! Your videos are always entertaining and informative. Cheers from sunny Sydney Australia MATE 🇭🇲👍🦘🇭🇲🇺🇸🇭🇲🦘👍🇭🇲
Happy new year Ezra! Not a bad purchase, thanks for bringing us along. Looks damn cold out there in the Dakota's. Makes me not feel so bad about the NY winter. 👍👍
It’s not a bad truck, it just hates the cold. It even screams at you when you try to put it to work. Come to think of it that’s me 😂😂😂😂. Love the video
An excellent purchase Ezra I am very interested to see what you are going to do with it. I would leave it as it is and fix it all up myself. As you say the truck has excellent bones! Best of luck with it!!!
Agree with the like of tow trucks I’ve always had interest in them especially Holmes twin boom trucks from small to the 750’s good luck with what ever you do with it I’ll be watching with keen interest and yes a big shout out to Sumter wrecker channel brilliant tow truck work to watch
Sweet find! Great old trucks, DT466 engines will run forever, all they need is clean fuel, oil, and antifreeze. A little underpowered, but they get the job done. Worst problem with the S series trucks is the cab rust. Take care!
The old Holmes units were good stuff. Holmes built a lot of their own winches and were excellent winches for there day, I've rebuilt a few of those. That size unit is appropriate for the chassis.
That’s a lovely old wrecker mate. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it. Good work mate. Love seeing you out in the Pete. Best wishes fella regards from south London England 🏴
That is a nice old international truck with a jerrdan wrecker body on the back of the truck its like having a very big surf fishing rod in the yard at anytime
That DT466 sounds good! I like the truck and I think you have a great plan Ezra! 🙂👍 I'm with you, I think that bed would be perfect for a 4500 chassis. I enjoy the videos that Sumter Wrecker does as well. Mr. Hal and his crew do great work. Take care and be safe on the roads my friend.
Ezra that is a good looking truck for its age. Plus everthing seems to work. Can' t wait to see the videos on its repair & changes you make. You're going to need a bigger garage. Stay Warm & Be Safe
EZR, that motor sounds tight and I bet that mileage might be correct. Tow trucks are short haul vehicles so they aren't usually high mileage units. Cut and plate the rust out of the cab and you'll have a good one! Thanks for the winter video. It takes some 'nads to work in that kind of weather!
Sumpter wrecker I second that motion 👍🏻🙌🏼👊🏼 their Channel is awesome, they really should have more subscribers. Like the truck you got, homes bed looks in good condition 🔧👊🏼🙌🏼👍🏻
I'll give ya a tip I used. Chok you tires and leave the break off during the winter. It will save some tire wear and break wear. Not to mention hammering on the rear end.
That tow truck is in good condition for its age. I've seen newer trucks in worst shape. Yep, you have a lot of options for sure. I agree with you about the truck doesn't match the bed. Holmes must have not installed it since it's mismatched. Good find congratulations.
That Holmes Commander 1200 is definitely better suited on a smaller chassis, since it’s only rated for 7 tons. I have a Commander 1200 on a 1980 Chevy K30 and it seems to be perfect for the 1 ton chassis. I also have an 01 International 4700 with a Century 612 that’s rated for 12 tons. You could definitely run a 10 or a 12 ton bed and it would be perfect for the medium duty International chassis
Cool 😎 truck looking forward to this project. You are very talented liked the work on the step deck and ol red . Keep them coming much enjoyment watching thanks 😊
From that truck up to 2003 have always had a chopping problem because their kingpins suck. I drove a new medium duty rollback international tow truck and everyone since 2002 have had that issue or factory front steel wheel balance problems.
Those 1200's were a really good unit. The only problem was the controls were cables to the valve body. I had a 1200 on a C-65 Chevy, I changed out those problematic cables for direct linkage, worked much better...
EZRA hi your viewer from CANADA Ontario, hope to see if you are going to be doing a project with this tow, because after work, 3-11pm, I need something to relax me, so I have looked at all your videos and this does it for me, keep them comming, and God bless you and your family, leslie.
It amazes me how people sell stuff and don’t even clean out the cab of trash and do a quick wipe down. But I guess everyone is different lol. But other than that it’s a nice truck can’t wait to see more on it. Nice purchase.
Yes watch the wrecking company you gave a shout to he knows he work through and through .hope you make a good little tow truck from what you have now .also .
I was stationed in Alaska and one of the things I saw the truckers doing is painting bright color strips on their tires so they can see when the brakes are frozen.
overhauling this old wrecker would make for some interesting content, thats for sure. Go ahead man,do it. Be interesting to see how much you could get for it once its done...........unless you decide to keep it,that is. Either way, keep or sell, watching it get rebuilt would be cool as hell.
That was a kool awesome show, love seeing the peterbilt and the IH tow truck glad you can fix to sell and use the wrecker bed on another heavier chassis truck,I really enjoyed your educational show and I'll catch ya on the next one brotha.
I found a 1972 c30, i think, chevy tow truck in bowie Arizona. Didn't look close up, but it looked really nice. Orange and white. It was still used, at least moved around sometimes. I wanted to buy that. Looked really cool.
Cool old wrecker, as a former wrecker driver it be cool to own one. Your right though that truck is to big for the wrecker body. Looking forward to the repairs on her. Good luck Ezra.
I'd put a newer style cab and front end on that truck because the international 4700 cab and front end would work on it and pretty sure the cabs are basically the same
this may be a stupid question, but why don't more of the tow trucks built have small sleepers on them? Most times during the winter, all tow trucks are going 24/7 and any sleep the driver get even if it's a half hour would be a lifesaver for them and sleeping on a bench seat is never all that comfy lol
Great show Ezra. Not many trucking u tubers that I watch. You and the guy from poplar bluff mo. Not afraid to do some hard work. Nice looking wrecker sir. And happy new year. love that old Pete.
If the gvwr is 25k that is for sure the correct weight bed for the truck. With that Dt466 the unloaded weight of that truck is between 13 and 15k and most likely closer to 15k. So that only leaves a 10k load on the truck at the maximum. So roughly it could safely tow a medium duty day cab truck with a 30 foot delivery trailer on it as long as the trailer wasn't full of paper or steel !! That 9 speed is a much better transmission for that truck than what's in it.
Mr Ezra I can wait to see to see this project. We really appreciate the shout out. Thanks for sharing and stay safe.
Thank you Mr hal I enjoy your channel and appreciate you watching 👍
Thanks for Mr. Hal @ Sumter Wrecker for the excellent videos, and always projecting a positive image of the heavy towing industry!
what a great day. old red, the new step deck and a new wrecker. i love tow trucks. cant get enough. hal and the crew are fantastic people. great channel.
got to play with several of the toys that day....lol i really enjoy Sumter wrecker I believe your actually the one that turned me onto them, iv been meaning to give them a shoutout for a while.
Actually looking like one JC Smith picked up awhile back is it
I love those old International’s they still look modern for being 40yrs old ! And the DT466 will run for ever!
We need more videos EZ
You make great content 👏 thank you.

I've seen enough of North Dakota through your vids to know that I will not spend my retirement years there. Everything sux more and takes longer when it's cold.
Looks a lot like Mars! I agree with you, not on the retirement state list.
Lol. Summers are nice though
Summer time there and winter Arizona lol 😆
I spent 2 years working outdoors at night in the oilfield in ND and let me tell you. Never again 😂
The cold ❄️ is somewhat manageable for a Texan like me , but when cold and that wind get together, that's when the going gets tough... nearly freeze burned half my face off up in Dickinson about a month ago..lol
Awesome wrecker man. And DT466 for the win!
Such an underrated content creator. Your videos are always helpful in my quest for more knowledge
Great find. Sometimes you just have to jump in to see how deep the water is.
That's a cool find. Looking forward to seeing more! Thanks for the videos!!
What a nice guy EZrider is and a great truck driver and hard worker. I hope it all turns out good for you mate.
Oldy but goodie! Look forward to the build !
Nice wrecker! Can’t wait to see what you do with it. I definitely agree that Sumter Wrecker is a great channel and definitely should have a lot more subs! They should have at least 100K subs cause they have great content and great knowledge. I love their channel!

Which ever direction you decide to go with this truck, i cant wait to see the next video in the series Ezra! Welcome back brother!
That's an awesome International! It's funny you mentioned Sumter Wrecker, I just saw a few of their videos not too long ago, when searching for an old Show I use to watch on SPEED called "Wrecked" and I fell in love with those videos. I think I'll sub to them, I always forget. lol

Sweet little truck with a mean sound. Love it and can't wait to see more.
Nice looking forward to see what you do with it.👍🏼
Happy new year Ezra! Not a bad purchase, thanks for bringing us along. Looks damn cold out there in the Dakota's. Makes me not feel so bad about the NY winter. 👍👍

14:15 bonus vice grips. Nice little truck man
Good eye… Vise Grips, not just a tool, they’re parts too.
Score !!! 🥳
That engine in Red sure sounds sweet 🙂👍
Agree with the like of tow trucks I’ve always had interest in them especially Holmes twin boom trucks from small to the 750’s good luck with what ever you do with it I’ll be watching with keen interest and yes a big shout out to Sumter wrecker channel brilliant tow truck work to watch
My friend has an 85 4x4, an absolute tank. Great score Ezra
Thats a Dimond for sure and not to rough! I would love to see it restored and on the road again making Money! 👍
Great looking transtar! Reminds me of the yellow lime green DOT international dump trucks our city still runs!👍
Sweet find! Great old trucks, DT466 engines will run forever, all they need is clean fuel, oil, and antifreeze. A little underpowered, but they get the job done. Worst problem with the S series trucks is the cab rust. Take care!

Sweet ol tow truck cant wait for the rebuild series
My favorite International the S Model with the mechanical Dt466🙂
That’s a lovely old wrecker mate. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it. Good work mate. Love seeing you out in the Pete. Best wishes fella regards from south London England 🏴
That is a nice old international truck with a jerrdan wrecker body on the back of the truck its like having a very big surf fishing rod in the yard at anytime
it be a good little dump truck. looking forward to what you do with it.
Yeah. I feel like that wrecker body is to light duty for that chassis. So it might be best to separate them.
Yeah I feel the bed would be perfect for a 4500 size chassis. Thanks for watching Zane
Ezra that is a good looking truck for its age. Plus everthing seems to work. Can' t wait to see the videos on its repair & changes you make. You're going to need a bigger garage. Stay Warm & Be Safe
Looking forward to the next videos series on the wrecker project Ezra! Great content

Those are the really good old international trucks, mod to late 90s till now I wouldn't have one, but the older ones are excellent trucks
Nice rig mate.... did anyone else see the pair of vice grips up in the rear wheel well at the 14:15 mark
I'll be patiently waiting for more Great Videos!!!
Not all of us have a sweet 359...thanks Ezra for the driver's eye view. Been missing "driving" your Pete!
Sumpter wrecker I second that motion 👍🏻🙌🏼👊🏼 their Channel is awesome, they really should have more subscribers. Like the truck you got, homes bed looks in good condition 🔧👊🏼🙌🏼👍🏻
14:14 there is a pair of locking pliers pinching off a line on the boom controls
At 2:15. What a bad ass cold start. I remember that sound well
I'll give ya a tip I used. Chok you tires and leave the break off during the winter. It will save some tire wear and break wear. Not to mention hammering on the rear end.

Awesome buy Ezra! That will be really fun to play with!
Looks like you did well and it sure will make for good content.
Good Job there loading it up and that 466 is One great engine!
Cool 😎 truck looking forward to this project. You are very talented liked the work on the step deck and ol red . Keep them coming much enjoyment watching thanks 😊
I grew up in Spokane WA and I love your videos but this one reminds me why I didn't move back after I got out of the Seabees.
Ol’ Red is probably reassuring the ol’ Binder that he is in good hands. 😊
Yeah I'd like to see more of the recker 👀👍👀👍👌
From that truck up to 2003 have always had a chopping problem because their kingpins suck. I drove a new medium duty rollback international tow truck and everyone since 2002 have had that issue or factory front steel wheel balance problems.

Great find!!!37 year old IH from the dakotas with a solid body and frame---SCORE!!!!
Heck ya man!! nice buy and definitely content ill be looking forward to watching
Awesome video thanks Ezra for your time and consideration top job I like a bit of snow ❄️❄️❄️ regards from England 🇬🇧🇺🇲🚜🚛
Ole Red saw you coming and I could hear her say, “Don’t look at him and maybe he won’t see me 😂😂 Its too cold for this mess “
EZRA hi your viewer from CANADA Ontario, hope to see if you are going to be doing a project with this tow, because after work, 3-11pm, I need something to relax me, so I have looked at all your videos and this does it for me, keep them comming, and God bless you and your family, leslie.
I live in the same town and had no idea that Sumter Wrecker had a UA-cam channel. Funny that i find out about them from a guy in North Dakota.
I really enjoy there channel
It amazes me how people sell stuff and don’t even clean out the cab of trash and do a quick wipe down. But I guess everyone is different lol. But other than that it’s a nice truck can’t wait to see more on it. Nice purchase.
I don't mind normally people who clean the inside and detail it are people who are trying to get top dollar for what there selling
@@Ezrider359yeah that’s true
You’re right old girl does have good bones. Can’t wait to see you get her back to prime condition.
Sweet ride man. It's going to look pretty good.
Yes watch the wrecking company you gave a shout to he knows he work through and through .hope you make a good little tow truck from what you have now .also .
Been watching the sumpter team a while bud. Be safe out on those roads. Those roads are why i live in south east texas
Nice find Ezra , the S series were good trucks
Can’t wait to see you restore this beauty good luck I’ll be watching 👍🏻
I was stationed in Alaska and one of the things I saw the truckers doing is painting bright color strips on their tires so they can see when the brakes are frozen.
Congrats Ezrider359 on ur newest 85 International Tow Truck. Fix her-up and she will do u good around the areas..
Drove one back in early 90s. She would get it done!
overhauling this old wrecker would make for some interesting content, thats for sure. Go ahead man,do it. Be interesting to see how much you could get for it once its done...........unless you decide to keep it,that is. Either way, keep or sell, watching it get rebuilt would be cool as hell.
Even though that part of our great country is not my "cup of tea " l do appreciate your ride a longs!
Regardless whatever you do with that unit, it is very handy to have around for any situation. I'm sure you will be happy with this "tool".
That was a kool awesome show, love seeing the peterbilt and the IH tow truck glad you can fix to sell and use the wrecker bed on another heavier chassis truck,I really enjoyed your educational show and I'll catch ya on the next one brotha.
Like the dragon wagon good luck buddy see you soon buddy
DT466 is a positive in my book!
FRICKIN AWESOME EZ RIDER NICE GRAB BUDDY
beautiful rig congrats
Stay safe ezra no accidents or sliding off the road
I found a 1972 c30, i think, chevy tow truck in bowie Arizona. Didn't look close up, but it looked really nice. Orange and white. It was still used, at least moved around sometimes. I wanted to buy that. Looked really cool.

AWESOME RIG 👍
Cool truck man 🤙
Real Nice.
believe that is a normal International frame a lot of pre punched holes for any future equipment that might be added
I'd put a newer style cab and front end on that truck because the international 4700 cab and front end would work on it and pretty sure the cabs are basically the same

Free pair of vice grips under the wrecker bed in the back on the drivers side
