Chaining logs to the driven wheels of a vehicle IS a viable last ditch way of getting out of a particularly deep area of mud or snow, but in this case, these guys used logs that were WAY too long. They're only supposed to be a few inches beyond the tire at most. The idea is to use them to push the tractor forwards by dragging the tip of the logs in the firmer soil underneath (There's also a paddlewheel effect helping too), the concept isn't to try and pole-vault the tractor back up to the surface level on friggin stilts !!! What they did was stupid, but the "Drivers"* reaction REALLY annoyed the hell out of me. His first thought was "QUICK, RUN AWAY !!!", rather than having the basic reasoning power to think that hitting the clutch, stamping on the brakes hard, stopping the engine, or multiple other things would have been safer for him, saved unneccecery work for everyone, AND prevented essential equipment from being put out of action. UA-cam prevents me from using the words I'd need to use to truly describe the shear idioticness and cowardice of that guy. I bet these idiots would also be the first ones to make a fuss when they got told that without the tractor they'd now need to cultivate the land with hand tools ! (* I say "Driver", but as soon as the tractor started doing something unexpected he was just a useless passenger who didn't see it as his responsibility to prevent the situation getting any worse. He's not a "Driver" in any sense of the word I recognise, and if I was his boss, for the safety of everyone around him I wouldn't let him get anywhere near the drivers seat of another vehicle !)

I am amazed i didn't blow out my back but i wonder why i ahve back problems now when i did crazy stuff like that

It does work, they do that all the time. But once you get past 30 degrees, clutch in, its too stuck for that. Or try reverse.

Simpler just to reverse the tractor out, the engine pushes down on the ground for extra leverage.
