Glad to see this, hopefully this run will be a little less cursed!😄 Hope it went well today, Wish I could have joined you, but 8:00 UK is 3 am for me🫤 I like to do the Ancient Ruins before Druids Grove for the xp & loot, plus have Withers if I need/want to respec anyone. …noticed your Tav has odd numbers in Wisdom & Intelligence? Only benefit is on even numbers, so can round down those and put extra 2points in Charisma for better speech checks and pricing, or in Strength for better jump distance and carrying capacity. “Back in the thick of things at last!” “Um, right Gale, would you mind going around casting Longstrider on everybody and then swapping out with Astarion? Thank you so much” lol (p.s. don’t forget to prepare (and use, if needed) spells in advance of combat). In some circumstances I have Shadowheart cast Guiding Bolt (does 4-24 points radiant damage and gives you advantage on attacks on the enemy it hits) and then move her right up to the enemy. That way rogue can use sneak attack with advantage 😊(Before doing, double check that Shadowheart has melee weapon equipped).
Thank you! I am praying for the same! 🤣 Oh my goodness! I had no idea! Well I'm glad you found my UA-cam and are able to give me tips from here 🥰 That's interesting! Because I like to do druids grove before the ancient ruins for that exact reason! How weird is that! Yes, it wasn't until after I started that I realised. It will be the first thing I do when I get Withers! Respec my awful stats 🤣 Hahaha! Yes! I have done reading on what people to with their companions they don't use and using them as "buffers" appears to be a thing. I assume that's what you were trying to tell me previously but I was just too daft to understand 😅 That is an amazing tip! I will try my best to remember it! 🥰
@ Yep! This playthrough I’m playing Storm Sorcerer again, so Gale spends lots of time in camp-just use him in morning to cast Longstrider and swap him out for melee fighter of the day. Now that I’m in Act 2 I also have 3 hirelings respec to Life Cleric to cast Warding Bond on me and melee fighters and upcast Aid on everyone, including summons critters, so breaking camp takes a minute. If you’re looking for an overpowered class, I heartily recommend the Open Hand Monk-have Astarion done that way-at level 6 he took down Grym by himself!! the rest of us just threw healing potions-and I did not use the big hammer even once!! 😄 Lots of good videos about best ways to spec and best gear if you want to check it out. And he’s still excellent at lockpicking, especially wearing the Graceful Cloth (increases dexterity by 2 to max of 20, gives advantage on dexterity rolls, so rolls two dice for locking)
@@wawho9645 Oooooo hirelings is not something I know much on! Is it essentially just buying new companions over and over? I thought you'd be limited to only one? Yes! I saw that somewhere on builds! WOAH! That's wild?! Did you give him fire resistance for that fight?
@ can get up to 3 hirelings, I guess so you can still have full party even if everyone else dies or leaves. Astarion was jacked up on Elixir of Hill Giant strength so couldn’t use Elixir of Fire Resistance-instead I hit him with water bottle, wet condition made Astarion immune to burning condition for 3 turns lol (but have to jump over lava, that still damages him). And one problem fighting is best attack against Grym is the Flurry of Blows: Stagger, a bonus action that keeps Grym from using his opportunity attack, but jump is also a bonus action, so… 🫤 One advantage of Tempest Cleric and Storm Sorcerer is that Shadowheart and I both have the Create Water spell, useful for keeping party wet but immune to burning-would take double damage from cold or electricity, but that’s not a danger in that fight lol. One other great piece of equipment for Monk-the Sparkle Hands, found in Decrepit Sanctuary out in the swamp. Sparkle Hands give Lightning Charge for unarmed attacks and Advantage on attacks against metal constructs and armored foes (tore up the Githyanki as well by the way, stunning and toppling all the way home lol)… Although my Storm Sorcerer did take out 5 or 6 githyanki is one round, sneak attack with potion of invisibility, create water and scroll of ice storm, everyone surprised so got extra attack, plus elixir of Blood Lust for another attack, so 2 rounds of twinned spelled Chromatic Orb Electricity, to mop up stragglers. Astarion and Lae’zel didn’t even need to do anything (that was in the room in front of the Infirmary, I had already fought the Inquisitor, confronted Valkith and the Dream Visitor, was just moping the rest of Githyanki).
@@wawho9645 Ahhh that's sensible! Astarion using Hill Giant potion as well is also sensible!!! Ahhh no, I take it you never kept Astarion in a rogue build a little for that second bonus action? Sparkle Hands added to the list! I've been doing research and a tavern brawler/throw Karlach is seeming like a good choice, do you think I could use those gloves on that sort of build? Wow! That sounds epic! I found a magic build called Ice Sorcerer that looks SUPER useful for AoE! I'm thinking of who to reclass in to that, once I get Withers of course!
Fingers crossed she makes it to the end ❤
