Also, quick question on rigging.. how you keep the teaser from tangling up in your lure every cast? I've tried 3 way swivels, and dropper loops and every cast it seems that I'm always untangling the twisted mess every cast to the point where I stop using the teaser.
I put a link should pop up on the video with rigging with a dropper loop. What pound test are you using? I normally go with 30lb all around if I am not sure what is biting but can go as low as 20 and as high as 60. If your mono is too limp the teaser will do what your saying. OR if your using a BIG hook like a 5/0 6/0 and especially 8/0 that hook adds a lot of weight and the teaser will swing around and tangle. a big hook will also cut into your cast substantially as the size goes up. Its one of those 2, the hook is too big for the mono or your mono is too light for the hook. What size hook are you using? 4/0 30lb should be ok, but 40lb would be more stiff to the hook, 8/0 your in 50-60lb mono range. It should have a slight curve when you hold from the top of your mono leader your teaser should not drop down the main line or stick straight out. This is one of the beauties of fishing there are plenty of other finer details to worry about! Hope some helps, kindest Jerry
@@FishYourWay Jerry you have shared the secret sauce finally! Really solid video, you are the UA-camr that turned me on to teasers and I had the best season last summer.. in fact the teaser outfished every lure I used. They will most days outfish any lure in front or behind them in addition to other lures on the beach! Jerry--I tied your teaser design and got into a major striper blitz yesterday and a 32 inch striper took my teaser! And it was tied on my own teaser rig that I tied myself and everything held up--that was so awesome catching a bass on a lure I tied myself. Thanks Jerry for all of these great instructional videos! You are the master! I'd love to fish with you one day!
That is so awesome to hear really makes my day when I read a comment like this thank you crumpybumpystick! They are great! Work the best of all I have had and used! So cool to hear again thank you!
Hi Jerry.. I just caught a 20 inch Spanish Mackerel off the jetty at LBI using this..your hand-tied teaser pattern! I had it attached to a Deadly Dick but the Mackerel went for yiur teaser! I have caught so many fish on this teaser all thanks to you! The gift that keeps on giving (really catching lol). Thanks again! It was my very first Mackerel I ever caught too!!!!
Just want to say thanks for all that you’ve taught me. I’m tying my own teasers now, based on your videos. They truly get fish on the beach! I kept good stats for the past three years and discovered that I caught 20 percent of my stripers on the teaser. Best wishes!
@@FishYourWay With your teasers you sometimes seem to catch even more fish, than with the usual bait. But the most I like is that you allways keep the stuff easy. No fancy 500$ reels or rods. You even have a heart for old tackle and especially old reels. Sometimes I really wish to simply call you up and go fishing. Keep fishing your way Jerry!
Hi Enthusiastic thanks! I bet you could make smaller ones on a size 6 or 8 hooks for fishing through the ice by you above your lure or bait! Bet they would work!
Jerry, thank you very much for taking the time to teach us how to tie your deadly striper teasers! I’m gonna start tying them as soon as my order from Aliexpress gets to me!
Some weeks before the surf gets in gear so youll have plenty of time to tie a bunch! Much welcome and thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
Love the teaser Jerry. The term simpler is better certainly holds true when it comes to teasers. The way you tie them and work them makes them resemble so many different types of baitfish. Being able to make up a bunch in a short while and fish them at will helps keep you in the game that much longer!
Great points you bring up there Kev, I think the main feature is fast to tie! I should have mentioned more that sparse is good too making them easier and faster to boot!! Thanks as always for adding! Fish your Way! Jerry
I would suggest getting a head cement as superglue breaks down over time in water. Hareline, loon and wapsi make good ones. But thanks for the video I'll try tying this up later!

Fishing with an egg is a great way to get em out there! Sometimes I have a popper ready and tie one on 3 -4 behind to work on top, also great as a chaser fly with a clouser! Thanks Capt Fish Your Way! Jerry
Hey Jerry hope all is well. Teasers are getting better each day. I know you already know this but I have learn that not all Bucktails are created equal. Size, density of the hair, coarseness, perhaps age of the buck...enjoying tying none the less.
Hi Thomas thanks good to hear from you, doing a lot of tying too! So true on the bucktails, what I tend to do is make them somewhat full then as they wear they are on the sparse side of the spectrum until most of the hair is gone and then repeat. 3 bucktails one full, one medium one sparse and cycle through! If I dont have anothe bucktail I will alter/add/change/remove the trailer. The type/size trailer you use will also change the sink rate significantly, why sometimes they work better without or with. What I do with the 360 bucktail teasers is tie them really full as they wear and thin I graduate them to flies that get out a little further then a full. Fishing is so wild!
You can use any color thread I just like red think it adds to the red chin looks nice. In the end I think I show some I tied in black which I had laying around but red is my prefer color MOST the time, sometimes if I am really busy I grab whats in front of me before refilling a bobbin!
Enjoy your videos and appreciate your wisdom. I can't justify expensive hooks so I also use Mustard 3407 and Eagle claw 254. Someone showed me how to bind 2 chainsaw files together with rubber bands. Then run the hook points in the groove between the files to quickly sharpen hooks. I crush all barbs to protect myself and the fish. Thanks
Thanks a bunch for watching and your comment theodore. The Mustad is a great saltwater hook well priced and one for every tie. i will have to look into that chainsaw file look like make a quick sharpen! I like a slight barb I actually do crush the 3407 barb down a bit I think its too big for a good bite but leave a tad for holding. Thanks for sharing!

The imperfection makes em the perfect teaser! Yarn is great I am still playing with that still in awe how the yarn uv just works! Tipping with gulp may make em the ultimate fluke bait! Thanks Mickey!
Very good point Tim, always know when to keep things sparse and when to go heavy a time and place for everything in the fishingverse, thanks for sharing that good stuff!
awesome video Jerry--what are the 2 devices you are using...the one that holds the hook in place and the one that is wrapping the thread around the hook?
@@FishYourWay Thank you Jerry! One other question...you say you tie a lot of them at once..why? Do they fall apart, or do you lose them with snags? I fish at LBI a lot and there is minimal structure there..when I use store bought teasers they last a long time but they don't look as good as your hand-tied ones.
I tie a bunch because I got the hair out and its quicker then having to take it all out again and I can give some away and not have to bother making em until I run out the more the better! Come to think I have to do some soon IO am low on em!

Hiya john thanks for watching and the kind words. YES, you wife or grandmas thread is fine but check with her first, i remember as a kid using up all of grandmas thread and she was not too happy! The super glue will bind it all firm long and tight. thanks again for watching and hope you subscribe to the channel! Fish Your Way! Jerry
