The problem of truck charging is something that The Electric Trucker on UA-cam highlights in his travels around Germany in electric articulated lorries where frequently he has to unhook the trailer to squeeze in between ordinary electric cars to charge. In Germany there are specific truck charge hubs but they are few and a long way between and often have no toilet or washing facilities that long distance electric truckers need. Well worth watching his channels (one in Germany and the other dubbed into English)
Yes, I also recommend the Electric Trucker UA-cam videos. The dubbed English works very well. I really like his positive attitude and how he finds solutions to everyday trucking and charging problems.
It's an interesting channel for sure. And, it's shocking to see that after all this time, EV truck drivers have such little support. It's a system that needs a lot of improvement. Charging stations, and facilities for drivers of BEV trucks. These trucks make big improvements in air quality, so the cost is payed back many times over in healthcare savings.
This is very interesting and something the UK needs to start doing. This is a pertinent issue, and I'm glad you're raising it. The UK needs to address accessibility in EV charging infrastructure, especially given the ongoing discussions around challenges faced by disabled drivers. The placement of chargers and the weight of charging cables can indeed pose significant hurdles. I'm particularly interested in learning how Norway, a country with high EV adoption, is tackling this accessibility challenge. Could you share any insights or resources on Norway's approach to inclusive EV charging infrastructure? Maybe you could make a video about it.
Bjørn, he is very good. Chargers, they are fast. Lorries, they are going there to charge. Buses, they will know how to back up. This video, it is good. ❤
The future of charging is that you won't have to bother with it. You just drive. And you charge when and wherever you stop. If a bus stops for 15 minutes at a location, that's where the bus should charge. If you need a restroom or food during a long trip, that's where you charge. They should have mobile chargers that you could rent and put at places where you stop. For example, at your company quarters. Those chargers would have a local battery storage to not limit the current to whatever connection there is to the grid. Also, I see no reasons for truck chargers not being located near those for smaller vehicles.
Here where I am in Canada on the major highways we a service called OnRoute that is specifically for this kind of stuff. Gas stations (with truck spots separated) with restaurants and bathrooms. They are massive and provide a lot of parking. But theyve only just started adding EV charging places in, with most only having level 2 chargers and only a handful at each location. Im hoping to see more EV charging included, especially when they start to modernize them more or maybe put in new ones. There are some near me that are fairly new and I dont think they added mucb EV charging sadly. Not very future proof. But I digress.
Monthly demand charge of 30,000 Euro is actually low for a 3,000 kW peak demand for the month. That is only 10 Euro/kW. Rates in the US are in the $15-45/kW range. If demand is calculated over a one hour period, that is also good for the customer. In the US demand is calculated over a 10-30 minute period, depending on the Utility. For example (kWh/15 min)*4. That doesn't allow short peaks to be averaged down to as low a value as a 1 hour calculation (kWh/h). While expensive, demand charges allow for a low energy charge, the $/kWh that residential customers are used to paying. This allows industrial customers to lower their electricity costs, by increasing utilization of their electric service, that is operating near their monthly peak kW 24/7 to get lots of cheap kWh, without affecting their monthly demand charge.
Kempower still uses a single payment terminal without weather protection? You have to hope that there is not a line of people struggling to pay in bad weather like most of the time during the winter 😞
This solution also exists at petrol stations, where only one terminal is available for several petrol pumps. It usually takes 10 seconds to pay with the card. The lack of a roof is generally the problem with charging stations.
Problem with one pay terminal is that if you need to hold the plug during the start of the charging , it is not possible. If you driving alone. I released that in Sweden a week ago. Handshake problems if you not holding the plug. 180kW charger😊,cant remember the brand
At this point, I see EREV trucks (like Edison's) as a more sensible solution. Long haul trucking is going to be the hardest to electrify; but it is nice to see someone actually moving into the heavy EV direction.
Everyone can charge here with a company (bedriftskonto) account. Even with your Mini EV company car. The slow chargers on the upside is for OsloBuss. OsloBuss is a company that do many different jobs like driving tourists, driving school children driving for VY when the trains have problems - and that is almost everyday. They have MB EQV, Sprinter and all kinds of busses. I did a film shoot here and talked to a lorry driver. ua-cam.com/video/Xtr_fTYDMv0/v-deo.htmlsi=kkHC4KZZ0_LXNKZZ

He took the certificate for lorrys to start the channel.

I like these infrastructure reviews, good to see some forward thinking going on.
Yo was up! Just convinced my mom to buy first electric car! BMW!!!! IX3
Nice we also have ev buses around Lisbon Portugal now and they Run all day they are pretty cool

Great to see, thank you Bjorn!
It's amazing to see how far ahead Norway is with charging infrastructure than other countries.

Here in Germany we have Aral as a provider for Truck-Charging.
but at what preis..
@ individual contracts with big companies like Amazon. They won’t reveal their prices.

Missing some microwaves in the lounge area!
I thougt this tent was for the passengers while the bus was being charged 😂
I wonder, in what timeframe will they be used up, or deplicated? This place is big, high in spec.... So do they plan to use this for 15years maybe?
hur lång tid tar det att ladda en buss eller en lastbil? måste inte en sån investering gå två skift? är det möjligt att ladda så snabbt?
❤❤❤
I’m surprised there aren’t any Tesla Temples yet. You know, for worshipping the big man 😄
Social Media is the temple already.
Kempower still uses a single payment terminal without weather protection? You have to hope that there is not a line of people struggling to pay in bad weather like most of the time during the winter 😞
Kempower terminals are mounted on the satellites. This is Fastcharg own payment terminal system

@@Brainar then it's a really stupid solution.
Simply enter the charging point number on the terminal, "reserve money", charge, done
At this point, I see EREV trucks (like Edison's) as a more sensible solution.

Largest truck chargrt
First
Why so many vehicles parked but no one charging?! I thought Norwegians have more "electric culture"
As shown in this video, it was an opening event going on
Norwegians charge at home if they can, fast charging is more expensive and inconvenient when you just want to use your car around town
ChatGBT. Sorry probabky an old joke.
It is cool to have but that is an ugly station setup
Solar in Norway....😅😂
I think it’s ok for half of the year
PV electricity is so cheap that it is definitely worthwhile even with lower efficiency levels.
